Chicago Stadium was an incredibly difficult place for opponents to play. The sound level was incredible there. Yes, the United Center may be a superior facility but it definitely didn't give as much of a mental edge as Chicago Stadium did.
This was high intensity, body checking, hand checking, physical contact playoff basketball. You don't get that kind of basketball in today's basketball. The only recent high intensity, defensive minded type playoff basketball that slightly resembles this type of basketball i can think of was game 7 of the 2010 NBA finals between the Lakers and the Celtics where Kobe shot 6 for 24 from the field and he was absolutely HORRIBLE. That just shows you how today's "top players" are pussies.
NBA basketball at its peak right here. Doesn't get ANY better than this. I'd happily sit and watch re-runs of 90's basketball all day over the trash we're fed from ESPN today. This is back when players CARED about the game and not the entertainment value of it.
ohh what a memories, i was 15 at that time, will we see again games like this, players like michael, pip, patrick..? a shame HDTV did not exit 20 years ago.
LeBron has the size, strength, and skill to have been able to hang back then, and depending on which coach/mentor would've gotten ahold of him... excel. Kobe though? His ass would've been overseas after a few seasons like his dad.
@HooliganMovement Kobe is more fundementally sound then Lebron. Kobe has better footwork, a more consistent mid range game, better FT% shooter, and he is the 2nd best post up guard of all-time behind MJ. Lebron is far more athletic then Bryant, and has better court vision, but he isn't a more complete offensive player and the Finals highlighted Lebron James glaring weakness.
@game3525 So you've never actually seen basketball, then? Fair enough. LeBron weakness is that he's a team player. 24-7. And still hasn't learned when it's time to flat out tell him team to shut up and play their roles while he carries them. Give it a season or two and LBJ will go on a ring run, regardless of whom he's playing for. Kobe's days of being carried are over (hence why everyone in LA media and on NBA.com are begging for D. Howard to go save him).
I had the original, original Dream Team t-shirt, before Clyde the Glide and Laettner were added to the roster. The t-shirt had cartoon likenesses of the original 10 players selected to represent USA. When this game took to the air, I put on that Dream Team t-shirt, but placed a sticker over Patrick Ewing's face.
I'll say this about Jordan, man I hated him. I couldn't stand him. He killed The Knicks. They never did beat The Bulls with Jordan.
But Jordan is the GREATEST player the game has ever seen. Other guys may score more in their careers. Other guys may be flashier, but NOBODY will ever be as determined, motivated, and competitive as Jordan was.
Jordan's heart was bigger than his talent and that's saying something because nobody was more talented than #23. Jordan >> Kobe/Lebron
knicks fans get used to this picture... cause this is going to happen every year in the playoffs when rose, noah, booz, and deng put an ass whooping on you.
Man, these were some battles. Looking back on it after all these years, it's absolutely ridiculous that MJ could score 42 on that Knicks defense. Absolutely amazing. That 1992 title had some serious blood, sweat, and tears on it. They earned it!
I have never seen kobe bryant do anything remotely close to this. How people even begin to compare bryant to jordan is still beyond me. I got chill bumps looking at this play.
Kobe would have went pissed his pants being in a situation like this. He don't perform well in game 7 situations. He was 6-24 last year against the Celts.
this is why he is the best he never ever gives up the kobe lakers even with shaq would have fell apart trying to fight agaisnt these knicks they played so hard just like my bad boys they had some beast's starks oakley ,x man,pat and mason .

@rmur23 Thank u. Finally someone who will tell the truth. Kobe was nervous the whole game, and as far as i am concerned that means he was'nt confident that they could win that game. Nervous=lack of confidence. The officials were being favorable towards the lakers the whole series, that was the reason for all the soft foul calls, to make sure it was'nt a physical series bcuz they know the lakers would'nt be able2 compete in a physical series.
It was ironic at how during the pre-game and halftime, they were talking about kobe time when in the end, he shot just 25% and nearly blew the game for them.
@rmur23 are u kidding me? i fuckin hate the lakers and kobe is a fuckin faggot from getting a free ring in 2002 to gettin gasol for nothing but jordan was favorably officiated thru the 90s, theres no way in hell he woulda gotten 6 if it wasnt for sterns henchmen
Favorably officiated? Ok. Then you give MJ 3 straight rings from 1988-1991 because he was basically beat the shit out of by the Pistons and never got a call. So in my mind its all fair play. Had he got half the fucking calls Lebron, Wade and KObe get today. He would have averaged 100 PPG a game. Favorably officiated. Take back Dwaynes ring then.
@willsmackyoudown , "Had he got half the fucking calls Lebron, Wade and Kobe get today." Come on now...keep it real.....after he earned his stripes by beating the Celts and the Piston....Jordan got the "superstar treatment" that Kobe and the rest get today. No body needs to take back any rings.
Yo starks23, if you wish to improve in basketball, you must start following a genuine exercise course. I used the famous workout training here at (50 inch vertical [dot] com). I didn t even tell this to my high school teammates yet heh
I think this video not only displayed the greatness of Michael Jordan but also showed just how great 90's sports were in general. An injured player ala Patrick Ewing, Isiah Thomas, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan seemed to always elevate in the most important situations. When I saw Lebron James play against my Celtics I saw an injury take him out the game, excuses being made by the media, absolutely no will to win, no fire .... pretty much like modern sports today
This is what made Jordan so great, he had a will to win. I don't think most of the NBA players have that particular will or desire. For them it's all about the money but for guys like Jordan, Barkley, Magic Johnson it was all about wanting to win. Of course Jordan was the best at it, but I swear put those 90's NBA teams on the floor against the teams of today, they'll wipe em off the floor. Nothin better then 90's ball.
starks23 blah man, this vid is why I watch NBA perhaps even with its issues. I'm doing this workout course that's utilized even by NBA players - 50 inch vertical (dot) com - I'm already jumping higher and dominating on the court!
LOL...Remember, people that can't stop or keep-up with another player on the court turns to playing dirty ass basketball...That's a true fuckin pussy.
LOL...That is not defense, it's playing dirty hacking basketball...When a player is getting schooled, burned or fustrated (like yourself), you turn to playing dirty ass basketball, that's the only way you have a chance to win...That doesn't make you a man, that makes you a cheap-shot CHEATING fuckin coward...If you can't play the game by the rules, get the fuck off the court you worthless piece of shit...
Chicago Stadium was an incredibly difficult place for opponents to play. The sound level was incredible there. Yes, the United Center may be a superior facility but it definitely didn't give as much of a mental edge as Chicago Stadium did.

starks23 shit, I increased past 12 inches on my jump by finishing the training system at (50 inch vertical [dot] com). now being being shorter than everyone else is the least thing I have to worry about in a game now, haha

Jordan was a fuckin cold blooded killer. The greatest EVER!

This is what you do in a game 7 when youre the GOAT.
Not shooting 6/24 at home and getting bailed out by teammates and favorable officiating.
MJ>>>>>>>>>>>>>Kobe.
rmur23 1 year ago
@rmur23 Thank u. Finally someone who will tell the truth. Kobe was nervous the whole game, and as far as i am concerned that means he was'nt confident that they could win that game. Nervous=lack of confidence. The officials were being favorable towards the lakers the whole series, that was the reason for all the soft foul calls, to make sure it was'nt a physical series bcuz they know the lakers would'nt be able2 compete in a physical series.

@SIDub14 Kobe gm 7 = C.H.O.K.E City
It was ironic at how during the pre-game and halftime, they were talking about kobe time when in the end, he shot just 25% and nearly blew the game for them.
at1212b 1 year ago
@rmur23 are u kidding me? i fuckin hate the lakers and kobe is a fuckin faggot from getting a free ring in 2002 to gettin gasol for nothing but jordan was favorably officiated thru the 90s, theres no way in hell he woulda gotten 6 if it wasnt for sterns henchmen
bigsteve0999 1 year ago
@bigsteve0999
Take back Dwaynes ring then.
willsmackyoudown 1 year ago

I agree
