I can't believe this band opened for Social D. I'm sure social D had no say in this since they are signed to the same label. Frank Turner's music is so gay. I'm glad they got take off the Social D tour.
@djknucklez1 There is an interview on here with Mike Ness of him sharing the fact that he admires Frank turner as a songwriter. AND they just played together last month in Oakland and FT killed it with the Social D crowd. SOOOOO i guess by now you can realized how incredibly dumb and ignorant your post sounds. cheers.
Turner has the same love, passion and appreciation for the historical context of Rock and Roll as Springsteen and the rest of the greats. Doff your cap to genius when you see it folks.
I love this guy, I'm twelve years old and the amount of people who love this awful pop fad make me want to cry. They just can't appreciate this kind of music! But I believe in you Frank Turner!
wow hold steady shout out, I wasn't expecting that but I love it, the hold steady are fucking dope; remind me of bruce springsteen with punk/hardcore roots
I was at this show and after watching this I agree that we (the crowd) sucked! That was the first time I saw Frank Turner and I'm a huge fan. He's coming back in a couple of months and I for one am going to kick it up a notch!
Also not sure if some people here a joking. But this song to me is about keeping good, honest and pure music alive. It is a catalyst chant against everything wrong with music today. Auto tune, Throwaway lyrics, cruddy electronics.
Dont get how some people can criticise this man. And also ive met far too many american people that wont give this guy a decent chance in their minds because he is english.
Frank's songs are intelligent and meaningful. He is always one of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He played a key part in the UK hardcore and rock scene with Million Dead (back when British rock topped American rock in almost every way). He always puts on a great show with a great atmosphere
I bet people like this were slagging off the proponents of our modern numeral system back in 5th century India, "yeah I still reckon we can get along with just words for one, two and many". Ergo, Frank Turner is basically against civilisation and progress.
I believe in full fat milk. I believe in two flakes in my 99, I believe in hot milk with my cornflakes, I believe that Bono is the only frontman for U2, I believe in miracles, I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky, I think about it every night and day, spread my wings and fly away. I believe in rock 'n' roll.
This is just OK....His "I believe" rap and crowd sing-a-long bullshit is too fucking manipulative...and stupid..Can't stand it. ..
That being said, his song "Reasons not to be an idiot" is fucking awesome, and his Bad Religion cover is the best I've ever heard ..So, yeah, Frank's alright in my book.
@Kakuoteyalu ....In the same way a movie score builds to a crescendo as the kids see their lost dog show up...and their faces light up..... or the underdog scores a touchdown or goal, and the crowd leaps to it's feet as the music swells......Like when a singer drops names of artists and icons whom he knows his audience will relate to...while call for a rousing (retch) SING-ALONG...In THAT way, it's "manipulative & stupid". In my opinion.
Also, maybe the singer knows what artists his audience will relate to because they're his influences, and if they like him they probably like those artists as well.
I just don't see what's wrong with it, it's cheesy, sure, but it's fun.
incredible rock and roll song played with passion. i saw them with social d in washington and the crowd was floored by this guy. this crowd is from arizona... and.. we'll.. enough said, right?
@holmeslaw666 Since when the hell do people have to dress the part? You're just mad at the fact that a "posh student geek" is making a hell of a lot of more money than you doing what he is good at. "holmeslaw666", just go back into the hole that you crawled out of. Frank Turner, you keep rocking that American/English Folk punk music!
Just found this song and it`s fucking awesome, intro is so powerful, it is very sad that this video has only 27k views, but shitty pop songs has millions of views. BRING THIS VIDEO TO THE TOP, BRING BACK THE ROCK n ROLL.
FUCK POP, RAP and rest of shitty music, kill em all!!
@jessemaurais I think it's Sumerian. If you wanna look it up/find out about it, it's called Ama-gi. Generally thought to be the first written expression of the concept of Liberty. Cool stuff.
@colintron me too, i'm judging him on his DECISIONS to go to Eton, to study at the London School of Economics and his decision to give that cliche / forced speech before his song to get a few cheers, cheap.
@holmeslaw666 So if the opportunity presented itself to you would you not want to get the best education possible? Remember you cannot choose where or what you are born into, only what you become.
@leoofbodom not at all, READ what i said about Strummer. I just don't think he's believable, he looks / sounds / presents himself like a posh student geek to me. No attitude / edge to him. As a side note, and more importantly...his music isn't that good.
I agree he's a bit of a cunt/ unlikable but still. Saying you don't like him because you don't like his image is a bit weak on your part. Look past the fact you don't really like his haircut and realise he's not putting anything on. Watch tour videos/ him playing in pubs/ interviews about his music. Listen to Million Dead. He's not a fake. Opinion on his music is again subject but lets just say you're in the minority.
Excluding his education and all that shit you're going on about, he is a singer/songwriter, why can't you just respect the fact that he's getting up there and giving it his all? It's the same with Justin Bieber, everyone being cunts about him when he's trying, that's coming from someone who dislikes his music. At least he's not sat at home like all of us commenting on this, have some damn respect from those who are fucking better than you, and this applies to not only you, but me.
@homleslaw666 do you really think education has anything to do with someone's love for music? If he went to Eton or not, the guy can write a song better than us two ever could. I've met him a number of times, he's a real nice lad too. If your not a fan of his material, just don't listen to it.
@chrisianburton Joe Strummer was privately educated, not a problem with that, but this fella is from another world, Eton! alongside royalty. I just think Francis is fake & has no business singing about "punks & skins" and what working class music is, he isn't naturally pissed off, just not buying his Billy Bragg attempt at all. You think this guy had any idea what "Social fuckin Distortion" was in 1996? Look at his last band Million Dead, total trend follower. Reminds me of Charlie from Busted.
@holmeslaw666 and there are working class people who hold super right-wing views? Your environment determines who you are, that's biology. He's lived life being a teenage anarchist, and still is a very liberal, educated man who knows the plight that the working class and poor have endured over the years. Don't hate for where he comes from, it's no different than hating a polish person because they are from Poland.
@bobotohough plenty of working class people hold right wing views. I don't hate the fella, though I do hate Poland, and Greenland, oh and the whole continent of Antarctica...shitholes.
@holmeslaw666 I'm sure he did have a pretty good idea about "Social fuckin distortion". Just because somebody is intelligent and was educated at an expensive school/college doesn't mean they're all capitalists or rich bastards who don't give a shit about the rest of us who are working class. Fuck, if anyone is working class it's Frank, based on how hard he has WORKED to get where he is now. Eton doesn't give you a passion for making music like this man does.
@JackWilliamsChannel Plus, it's not like he chose any of it, he was just born into a more privileged family than us. If someone hates him for that, then they're just a snob. And yeah he speaks properly. He still makes damn good music and he completely understands what it means to be in a band because he could have been some rich businessman and he gave it up to have no money and live on a tour bus.
@JackWilliamsChannel I agree, I mean Marx, the father of demonizing capitalism as the most alienating force and championing the working class came from a privileged home and was well educated none of which have anything to do with what you decide to do with any opportunities or education you get
Why's this guy tryin so hard to be a working class / rock n roll hero all of a sudden? See right through him, a posh student who went to Eton and the London school of Economics for fuck's sake, was educated alongside Prince fuckin William, his dad went to Eton, total bollocks, come on people! That speech at the beginning made me cringe, can't believe everyone's buyin this. 'Hey Yeah'... ugh
