I think they should change all signs in Germany from German to Italian since most Germans should learn Italian anyway. It will help them become more cultured and improve thier image.

Why change the signs to Italian? They have never been in Italian ! All that would happen is that the Italians would add an " O" like Meran to Meran (o) as Mussolini did to all of the original German towns in South Tyrol when he tried to forcefully Italianise the South Tyrol . Fascist Italy did not suceed then and you cannot change the will of the South Tyrolean people now ! South Tyrol is not part of Italy from choice . Now it has autonomy and eventually it will be free !

Dumb issues .. If they put bilingual signs everywhere (Italian and German) there wouldn't be any problem and everyone would be happy.

change those awful german signs they all should be in italian these tyrolean have certainly no doubt create problem for all the the rest of Italian people, furthermore all the tyroleans folks should be integrated as italian, they can still keep thei history of their ancestors.

Moreover Italian government is not arrogant as someone during this interview said, this ITALY NOT NAZI AUSTRIA.

Keep the signs German as they have always been !

Italian hikers can read place names and route numbers as they have done for years. When Italians hike in Austria or Germany they seem to manage without Italian signs!

While I sympathize with the people of South Tyrol in keeping their cultural identity intact, like it or not, South Tyrol is now a part of Italy and the signs need to be bi-lingual. South Tyrolese are Italian by nationality whether they want to be or not. It's just the way events of history played out.
