Just looking up how to knit a scarf and cam across this video. How sweet this little girl is! It's so nice to see a child finding joy in a traditional craft and not be wanting computer games etc for entertainment...so refreshing! This knittting is pure skill! I only know how to use needles :)

Wow! I used to do this as a kid, then recently I heard about finger knitting. I had no clue they were the same thing! I wish I had more use for this stuff; it was so much fun to make. I still know how to do it, but don't have a reason! Drat.

Sarasponda is a dutch folk song that Mothers used to sing while their daughters spun their first thread, and made their first cloth with it by themselves. The song is supposed to immitate the sound of the spinning wheel as the girl spun her thread. It was to ensure that the girl would become skilled in weaving and spinning, and then marry a good husband.

I just mastered the technique of finger knitting; I'm loving it. I've made up some nice headbands; all you have to do is use one of your hands for the loom and use the other as the knitter. Before you know it, you have a nice long cord on which you can make anything. There's no end to what you can do here.
