  • Remake FF7 for ps3

  • There aren't really any bad Final Fantasy games. I mean, sure every game has their flaws (FFX - the never-ending dialogue), but each game presented something new and awesome (FFVIII - GF/Draw/Expanded sprites and whatnot). What is sad though is that you get fanboys that obsess over the older ones. On behalf of real gamers, stfu. Respect a game because of its gameplay, its storyline and whatever neat features it has, don't only have respect for a game because of it's age.

  • @Em3ralditan FFX-2 sucked bro .-.

  • @mauriciodisponivel FFX-2 was good for what it was, especially for those that loved FFX (which was my personal favorite in the series, but the transition to PS2 helped). From a gameplay aspect, the job system was handled well in FFX-2, and it was refreshing to see that. On top of that, it was a real treat to see how Spira (?) had come along over it's years without Sin. It's nowhere near the best Final Fantasy, but I doubt it was meant to be. It's just a neat sequel to a great title.

  • @ChocoboDreams Yeah, that was the only reason why I played FFX-2 (FFX is my favorite) to see what happened to Spira and it's people but, since I'm not the biggest fan of real-time turn combat system, the only effective thing to do was constantly attack (doing any other thing would give the enemy the chance to strike a lot of times. yeah, i exaggerated) and really, Yuna turning into THAT was not very pleasing.

  • @ChocoboDreams The job system was far from good imo. And, I played that game 3 times getting the same ending, even with 90% completion. Thanks to the internet that told me to press square on the cutscenes and bring Tidus back. Not a pleasing memory bro. But, it's just my opinion, and I do respect yours. good gaming :D

  • @mauriciodisponivel I can see where you're coming from with it, it's just that I don't really consider it a Final Fantasy title so much as a spin-off I suppose, so I don't give it much scrutiny. FF13-2 seems much more ambitious, and reserves the right to call itself a stand-alone title, despite having such a terrible story (from what I've heard). I'm eager to see what it does have to offer, though, I heard a lot of good things about it (despite the story).

  • @ChocoboDreams FFXIII-2 should be good, SquareEnix made too much mistakes to learn nothing from them... I hope they can bring back the good times of Squaresoft.

  • From what I've seen from you I think you just like complaining. And from the complaints you seem to constantly make I don't even know why you play RPG's. Only like %15 of how many if them play is up your ally.

  • @scoress6 Based on the things he's said about Final Fantasy 8, it's only logical that he'd like Final Fantasy 13, but I'm sure he even has complaints about that one. :P Seriously, based on his complaints, it'd lead me to believe FF13 is right up his alley. Still, he's fun to watch.

  • THIS GAME KICKS ASS! but i think i like FFIV moar "/

  • the only bad final fantasy's are 12 and 13

  • @jrobear10

ahev you played them? Or are you just going by popular relief?

In my opinion, FF12 was great, except for Vaan and Penelo. 13 had a great artwork and battle system, it was very fun too play, but just as everyone else said, it is indeed linear.

  • @BinaryDood

oh no lol i've played all of them except for the first 3

Just in my opinion the story line and gameplay changes in the later games disappointed me.

I just hate the linear nature of ff13, its not the same to me.

  • I don't hate people who are obsessed with Final Fantasy VII I just hate people that hate on what other people enjoy a lot, who gives a fuck if people love it that much I'm pretty sure everyone is obsessed with something at some point so deal with it.

  • if they do remake final fantasy 7 then i hope they keep with the old script and not pull bullshit like they did with crisis core at the end and remove G or any other emo rockstar from the game. final fantasy 10 is way beter then the FF7 spin offs and that is saying some thing.

  • am i the only one that loved ff10 lol i like the rest but 10 mainly

  • I agree with everything you just said.

  • I won't say FFVII was bad, but I will say that as a huge FF fan before 7, I found that it really spiraled the series downward into some of the worst that JRPGs have to offer. Just watch Spoony's reviews of 8 and 10... spot-on. Horrible stories, ridiculously stupid characters and outfits, countless plot holes, nonsensical story twists, careless use of deus ex machina way too much, and an embarrassingly heavy emphasis on sexualizing female protagonists and antagonists.

  • it changed the way rpg should be played and the boss fight soundtrack of it gave me a reason pick up a guitar and learn how to play LOL.

  • I tried this on a PC when it was first released, but immediately lost interest because Fallout came out around the same time and was a much more interesting and creative RPG.

  • I love FF7 because I thought it was going to be another castle,s dragons, knights sort of game, but I was pleasently surprised when it was nothing like that. Made my childhood great.

  • Yeah, i don't really agree with the point that the mini games and side quests are annoying. I guess the whole drag queen thing was bad but what else would you expect from japan?

I do dislike all the weirdness the game has brought with its fandom, but you obviously do have some hate against the actual game too.

  • @Khrene You say it changed everything, how? The materia system was taken directly from FF6's Magicite system, except customizable and available from the beginning of the game..

That kinda screwed the job/class system though, especially with every character pretty much the same and the changes that materia made to characters was very minor and pretty much negligible.

  • @Khrene Dude, this video was from 2007. I don't think he is going to respond to a comment of a video that was made 4 years ago.

  • im all fairness it was the story that made the game good and also the mini games which brought me quite a bit of amusement lol.

it is my favourate of all rpgs but thats because its the first one i played :)

  • I actually played Final Fantasy VII over 200 hours, I'm not even fucking kidding, you might say that I became obsessed with the game. Now, it's been about 4-5 years since I've played it but I still have the Playstation 1- memory card with the saves and I actually have been waiting to play the game over again because the soundtrack was fucking mesmerizing, the story was really good and I still think it is one of the best games ever made. Something about getting all the Ultima weapons and...

  • @M34tgr1nd3r ... finally getting to the epic showdown with Sepiroth and just unleashing all hell on his ass and completely obliterating him with an epic score backing the fight. I mean holy shit. The game just culminated perfectly. It was just fucking epic as all hell.

  • Magic Rocks = Materia in FF7

  • @ fruitpunchsamuraikun

What about the people who aren't obsessed over it but still regard it as the best ff?

  • Magic Rocks = CRACK!

  • So calling this video deleted scene was for...... oh right, just to get more people to watch it.

  • ff 7 is the bomb and will never be forgotten :) i think the maker of ff will all was live on in history as one of the best game programmers or makers of all time and a bluddy rich Asian to boot :) lol (im not racist here just saying)

  • I don't think FF7 made the psone look better, there are a lot of other games which had incredible CGI, Parasite Eve 1 & 2. FF7 wasn't beautiful or anything, but it had depth to it, which most games didn't have at that time.

  • I love ff7 and it is my favorite. But its still not the best game.

You can put it in a list of the best rpgs, but you just cant compare it ://

  • Final Fantasy 10/X

    Final Fantasy 10-2/X-2

there you go...just found 2 FF games that have nothing to do with collecting magic rockes

  • @dirtygurty4 he was talking about before ff7. he said the older games most of the time made gather magic rocks.

  • @dirtygurty4 Spheres.

  • @Gharmos the spheres are made from the liquid found in macilania woods (the same liquid the Spheimorph was created and also the same stuff use to make the BlitzBall Stadium)

  • @dirtygurty4 It wasn't the same stuff used to make the Blitzball stadium. That was water. But the notion of collecting magic orbs, stones, rocks, whatever, still applies. Whether it's actually a rock or not. Materia isn't supposed to be made of rock, neither are spheres, but it all still counts as collecting magic rocks.

  • @dirtygurty4 ...well...er...you dont have to collect them! HA!...Victory is mine!

  • First of all fagget you hate ppl who upsess over it best game ever made all you can say I feel sad for the new gamers who missed out when those graphics were stunning before mass online play that was it and boy was it something and faggets like you writing retard reviews scare them from remaking the game I do not want a remake I want a new game in that world meteria and hearing about cloud and his buds and visitng old towns same world map would be best game for ps3 by far

  • I don't see a deleted scene

  • I remember getting FF7 in 1998 on my 8th birthday, I'm not a "fanbwoiii" but I fucking love this game because it introduced me to RPG's. I have a mild obsession with it... sozzard.

  • @CLOUDSTRYYYFE I got Final Fantasy Four, and I absolutely hated it. I didn't know what I was doing half the time. I didn't even get past the opening sequence. But then I got Final Fantasy VII, and it reopened me to this series. Well done Square! You always impress me 98.99999999 percent of the time! But Metal Gear still has the glory.

  • That bit about "magic rocks"...never thought about it, but SO TRUE. But is it a bad thing?

  • Well, Spoony did mention in the full FFVII review video that part of the game revolved around collecting magic rocks, but that's one of the things that makes FF a franchise: crystals always find their way into the game.

  • I say neh they teased all the final fantasy players when they released the e3 trailer for final fantasy vii enough said , but saying thatI would have purchased a ps3 brand new in the box with the advent children complete blu ray and the final fantasy 7 remake witch would be the f ing shit and ya it be cool if they made it with the same kind of fighting as crissis core or even better??? i d k they would have sold more then any other game in a years worth of time from its release

  • what the hell? how is there NOT a reason to obsess over THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME?

  • I'm with spoony on this one since i became a fan of FF IX and from there i have almost tested all ff to see if they live up to the hype, i must say the older kinda do but the newer ones... nah not really, overall FF7 is okay but it should not be praised to the gods.

what stuns me a bit is when i meet fanatic FF7 fans they always tend to think their opinion is fact and it makes them free to bash any other ff title with no coherient reason

I could draw a parallel line with 2D and 3D zelda also

  • Obsession brings order and purpose to our lives. Sitcoms are better than soap operas. Hate makes us powerful.

  • @IggyHazard ...thinking maybe you're confusing order and CHAOS. Re: Xenosaga.

  • @thephoenixforce Yeah, I do that a lot. XD People need ergonomic order to reduce the stress of everyday life but they also need creative chaos because self-liberation is a basic human need.

  • I like just about all the Final Fantasy all but FF2 FF9 FF12 and FF13 and FF12 Eww.

The best one for me would have to be 10 love Blitzball then 7 8 5 6 4 1 3.

I do wish they'd bring back the way RPG were 12 just drove me mad I think I might of even killed a few hundred people.... GTA.

  • "I don't necessarily hate Final Fantasy VII, I just hate the people who're obsessed over it"

    AGREED!!!!

  • @fruitpunchsamuraikun i've been obsessing over final fantasy for 7 years straight....

    booyah.

  • @fruitpunchsamuraikun Even though I don't really care much for Spoony and I am a Final Fantasy fan (especially 7 and 8) I have to agree that the fanboys (IE: The obsessive fans) are annoying as all hell. Case and Point: Final Fantasy XIII can break the PS3's Bluray drive (I have seen this happen) and what do the fanboys do? Blame the owner of the console! That is incredibly retarded! They are actually calling me an asshole for refusing to buy a game that can break my console, WTF? :|

  • @Mykayel Wait... It can? What about the 360 version?

  • @Meidoification I actually heard there was a lawsuit regarding FF13 breaking Bluray drives...and of course the fanboys are blaming the people suing Square because they "used the game wrong"...how exactly can anyone use a game "wrong"? I'm not sure about the 360 version, but I doubt it since I haven't really heard anything about that version having problems.

  • @Mykayel I think sueing anyone is a bit dumb, but if a game does break a console (and I've seen it happen), then I think it is the responsibility of the game developer to compensate the losses. You can't use a game wrong, like do you put it in the slot upside down after covering it in maple syrup and bake it in the oven? So those fanboys need to cut their crap, lol.

  • @Meidoification People did call Square-Enix, they where rude to the consumer and blamed the player claiming that no else called in with such a complain, then they found out (if you read forums and such) that a lot of other people called S-E and got the EXACT same treatment, IE: The company claiming that no body else has called them.

  • @fruitpunchsamuraikun lol i never got to play FF7

  • @fruitpunchsamuraikun i just like ff7 more than the rest cause after 7 they turned into a chicks game to much love blah blah love. and the battle system was really well balanced

  • @Cronotfalcon FF7 did have kind of a love triangle between Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris. But it wasn't completely over done or obnoxious like the love story subplots in FF8 and FFX were.

  • Comment removed

  • I completely agree with you, Spoony. I was so excited for FF7, because I'd been a Square fan for years. When I got the game, I played it for about two hours, saved and didn't go back to it for almost a month. I replayed FF6. It took almost a year for me to beat FF7 the first time. I hated the departure.

  • i made my top 12 games ever list FF7 & FF8 2 best games ever ,

  • The golden age was from 95 to 2005

    Old fags (>.>)

  • Why not just be happy they didn't stop at Final fantasy 1 or 2, they've belted out 13 awesome games with numerous spin offs and dozens of hand held or completely different (Dirge) games, even the very worst (XII) wasn't that bad.

  • FF VII is a good game, good enough that I can recomend it to those who are new to RPG-s. The battle and character system isn't hard, the story has enough twists to keep the player interested.

Sure it has faults but I would rather play this than FF IX which to me was a butchery of the FF serie. I didn't play any of the online games and I don't plan to do so. X-2 is something you can beat once, XII was booring to me so I didn't even play it through. Is XIII good enough to enjoy not just to play?

  • I love FFVII but that doesn't stop me from agreeing with his last line. I certainly love all the other FFs as well.

  • @Shikomaru136 u do know FFVI is ranked #1 according to IGN.

  • @muslimgiga Well I'm not surprised, it's amazing. Though IGN isn't the most reliable of sources. But I still love FFVI.

  • @Shikomaru136 Yeah, Final Fantasy VII is most definitely on my top 5 rpgs. But I still hate the annoying fanboys/girls of the game, or really fanboys/girls of almost anything. I can understand why there are a lot of haters of the game being that it's so popular. It still bugs me when people hate on it so intensely of course.

  • @WolfSyn Yeah. It cool that they find FFVII their favourite game but trying to force their opinions down someone's throat to make them like it as well is sure to absolutely piss someone off. I love itm but that's not to say it's my favourite game that I would attempt to persuade another in order to change their beliefs. I mean there's so many other games out there. I for one love Sonic the Hedgehog, but not so intensely that I would defend the '06 remake. *shiver*

  • @Shikomaru136 I don't support remakes in general. Like FFVII, I do not support a remake of that game. If you wanna play it, play the original. The reason I don't like the idea of a remake is because Square is completely full of fail nowadays.

I think people should get over the whole remakes thing, stop trying to hold on to the past with nostalgia. We should hope for new games that are just as good or maybe even better to create new memories. Just play the original game if you want to play it.

  • @WolfSyn What about the first few? There was a lot of confusion considering the origanally japanese exclusive games and the remakes set that in order. I like remakes but the games from VII upwards do NOT need a remake. I like FFXIII but no XII. They're all different games to appeal to different people and if you don't like one the play one you do. I like the Final Fantasy series because of it's variety of styles.

  • @Shikomaru136 I didn't like X-2, XI, XII, XIII, VII Dirge of Cerberus, and XIV turned out to be god awful. I've seen two big review sites give it 4/10... and for many good reasons that I can understand. That's probably the worst rating ever bestowed upon a Final Fantasy.

XII woulda been okay if it weren't for Vaan, Penelo, and the huge amount of the story/characters being ripped from Star Wars.

Maybe II, III, and V needed a remake but to me, that's about it.

  • @Shikomaru136 I'm sorry if it seems like I am the one being the hater now. I don't hate their newer games... besides maybe X-2. That game is such a shameful scar on Square-Enix lol

But really, I am just pointing out why I think the Final Fantasy VII remake would just go wrong. Especially because in my eyes they have ruined the story of Final Fantasy VII with their prequels/sequels. I can just feel it, it wouldn't be the same.

  • @WolfSyn Nah, hater would be: "ZOMG! THEY NEVER SHOULD HAVE CHANGED FROM HAVING THE SAME STORY AND GAMEPLAY OVER AND OVER AGAIN! I HATE YOU BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE THE SAME OPINIONS AS ME!"

You have a valid point... and X-2... I just don't count that as a final Fantasy.

  • I LOVE FF7 an I don't giva a fuck if you hate me or not =]

  • @666anarchy666 FF6 > FF7

    hurrrrrrrrr wat

  • @sonick7777 ff6 is a great game. ff7 was wayyyyy better though just because of the story

  • @666anarchy666 "sigh" no, just no....

  • @sonick7777 sigh no just no

  • @666anarchy666 like a story about emo cloud about his boyfriend zack.

but ya it has sorta good story...

  • your last line in this vid i agree on lol

  • death doesn't really sound objective

I don't love FFVII, I just hate people that always search the negative points of something no matter how good the material is

  • @tintor2 i hate fanboys. A LOOOTTT. yes 7 is a good game but lets just leave it at that. None of the characters are real nor are they even human. The story was WRITTEN by a japanese guy. so whats the need of tearing each others hair on who cloud slept with or who he loves?(in truth he loves cid:)lol).

That just makes me lose respect for the game.

  • @muslimgiga what?

  • @muslimgiga why do you care about who Cloud slept with?

  • @tintor2 he didn't sleep w/any one btw(he's gay JK). But my point was that Fanboys OVER EXAGGERATE a decent story and they are MELODRAMATIC.

    Don't u find that annoying? i do.

  • @muslimgiga That's a reason to find the fanboys annoying and not the game. And who knows, maybe Cloud likes animals (wow, I can't believe how we can exploit these jokes!)

  • why people even say ff 7 was their favorite game when they didn't even played the other ones?

  • fina fantasy 8 wasn't really about magic rocks was it? Did they even have crystals? i forget.

  • @ColonelHakha there is a side quest in the shumi village with funky rocks... if that even counts. Seems like once the crystals were gone, the stories lost something; because there's no crystal gathering in Final Fantasy X (that I can recall) either.

  • @MrWezlum18 Well FFX had spheres, which gained more prominence in FFX-2.

  • and then the world explodes and you collect more crystals.....

  • FF7's alright, Sephiroth didn't seem to click with me as being that big of a threat, I know the whole "meteor" hitting earth thing, but he didn't actually win. The plot was meh, not too great not too bad. The Party members however are pretty interesting and had unique personalities.

My personal favorite FF though was 6 hands down, can't beat Kefka. Plus I always thought Terra was interesting as a main character since its usually a guy who gets that bit.

  • @badarbiter

i totally agree. although FFVII is hands down my favorite Final Fantasy(and favorite game period) i do think Kefka was the PERFECT villian. hes just fucking nuts, besides how many other vilians can you name that actually succeed in blowing up the world. and as far as terra goes. while she is the main character from a story's standpoint, the game(after a certain point of course) really lets you pick your main character and party.

  • "Name an FF that wasn't about collecting shiny rocks."

    Final Fantasy Seven....

    FUCK!

  • @Pumpie Dude. Materia....? The Black Materia...? Huge Materia...?

  • @MrWezlum18

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!

  • I understand what you mean, I suppose it's like comparing final fantasy 11 12 and 13 to 7, 8 and 9. They are just different and the creators are trying to keep up with the evolving cravings of video gamers. 7 marked a huge transition for ALL rpg's and I honestly think nostalgia is one of the main reasons people (including myself) obsess over it. FF7 was great, as were all the rest of them in their own way... Except 11... Who's idea was THAT anyway?

  • This is why Final Fantasy sucks now because it strayed too far away from what made the original games great and the fact the creators went to form Mistwalker. People can't call themselves a FF fan if the just played FF7 and up they need to get a GBA and play the old games with the last good one being FF6(FF3 SNES) the best FF in my opinion FF4(FF2 SNES) including FF4 DS remake.

  • Thank you! FF7 was my first rpg, then i went back and played chrono trigger ff3, and so on. So i seen the dramatic change in rpgs. everything you said was right on t he money. the game is amazing because of the change in gaming overall (especially with rpgs and FF fans).

  • ff7 is the best final fantasy, the best rpg, and the best overall game ever made... hands down!

  • its really hard to choose the best final fantasy cause there all pretty good, not just the gameplay but the story for the series

  • FF VII is the first FF i played. and its my fav by far ;).

  • I FUCKING HATE AIRPLANES

    I FUCKING HATE ROBOTS

    I FUCKING HATE MACHINE GUNS

BRING THE GOOD OLD FANTASY AND MAGIC BACK

  • @boitahaki dude FFIII, FFIV,and FFVI( dont know about V)all had airships.

  • @ThePope17 Yes they all have airships

    sirships are NOT high-tech shit

I'm sick of seeing only generic soldiers and their dogs being killed by a over-powered chick using a sword-gun or whatever

  • for example, I talked to a friend of mine who plays MW2, and he says he doesn't "give a shit about single player, it's all about online". This worries me because it tells me that videogames are becoming more generic. I miss the old days when the storyline (such as ff7) truly engages you with it and realize that what you are playing, is a work of art.

  • @Xyntech06 Those games still exist. You're talking about an FPS. With RPGs the story draws you in to playing it. I never have once said about KotOR "Gee I can't wait to level up and choose feats!" I think about the story. FPS's are about shooting people, there isn't enough room for a good storyline, when the title says "Modern Warfare" which is an instant clue-in to the War on Terror. So you don't need a story, you just need the mindset that shooting people for 8 years is fun.

  • @RyanKaufman

idk i still think those games are still pretty hard to find. Most games i find nowadays are really quite shallow. Not just on storyline but just overall. It's like being a parasite, once it drains all the energy out of a host, it simply moves on to something else. That's how it is for me at least. I play for 1-2 months then just stop. I was satisfied for a bit then find it really hard for me to go back

  • @Xyntech06 Well that's replay value I think. If not, I know what you mean, but those games have always been around. Look at pong, no storyline, the only reason it's good was because it was revolutionary. If you look at Doom, again, revolutionary, but that's it. "Shoot teh things they are = bad, they from hell, kill them" big huge plot there. I mean, we've revolutionized everything, so all that's left is plot, which is hard to make well.

  • @Xyntech06

me too. i mean i play mw2 alot, but that has and never will stop me from playing story driven singleplayer games like Final Fantasies(especially VII) and Metal Gears.

  • so far in this day of age, the only game I know that has a story that has a certain type of complexity that matches up with the old PS1 games such as final fantasy would be Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PS3. It was the very definition of the word epic.

They had to make more of these games cuz the trend is starting to be more based online games and gameplay.

  • FF VII... I usually don't complain about graphics, but something in those early 3d graphics just annoy me... I can't stand to watch the game. Also the story of the game, rhe main character is partially a clone of a weird emokid who wants to use the planet as a spaceship and only cares about killing him... he pretty much literally says at some point near the end that he only cares about killing Sephiroth and saving the world is a side-effect.

  • @DarkvindFromIllier I totally agree

    thumbs up!

  • @DarkvindFromIllier

    LMAO! wtf are you smoking?

  • @ThePope17 Nothing, but just looking back at the game nowadays, the story seemed cool back then but in reality when you now look at it, Sephiroth is more of an emokid than Squall, Cloud's just interested in killing Sephiroth and dating Barret and I remember Sephiroths plan being after he got the planets lifestream to be that he'd use the planet to go around the universe... So the real question is what were they smoking when they came up with this.

  • @DarkvindFromIllier

yea. but what i bugs me is you said that seph is an emokid. where to me he when he found out about his artificial creation he just went crazy. turned into a mad villian(not as mad as kefka, if you haved played FFVI u know what im talking about)

  • @ThePope17 Yea, I have finished FF VI, but i would count it as being crazy that he goes over half the game going "blah blah mother blah mother mother blah blah blah"

  • @DarkvindFromIllier its whatever man.lol. people have different opinions.

  • IMHO the systems of FFVII - FFX-2 got it right. I grew up in the age of epic, character driven soap opera FF, with integrated FMVs and characters that made you cry during cutscenes or endings.

To me XI-XIII are not final fantasy games. The standard system of controling your 3-4 characters while fighting in a line is what FF was to me. I understand why the system evolved, but to me, it isn't the same series anymore. I supose thats how the fans of 1-6 feel about 7-10/2.

  • So do I, man, so do I.

  • story based ff7 was the best of the ff's and in my opinion it is the best but there are other series which where reaLLY GOOOD TOO sry caps lock xD i mean look at ff8 or ten which where grat too or the new ff13 ok it's a bit stange but the idea is really good^^ the ff series are one of the best roleplaying games that i ever played^^ they changed everything and the characters where epic for example cecil ^^ cloud sephi sqall tidus rikku ^^ the all are sigularity ^^

  • yes yes yes - guess you hate me - I do obsess over this game - I know its over rated but its over rated for a reason - I love the nostalgia this game gives me - this is what got me into RPG's and my gaming life was never the same - good review

  • Theres your problem, Spoony. This is the very game that got me into not just the FF series, but RPG's in general. I liked this game, despite how much I want to throw something when I want to open the safe.

  • so thats basically like saying, "i dont hate sweet new 3d games". "i just hate people who obsess over it". cmon man. this game was the BEST final fantasy of all time. it was un-paralleled in story, game play, sound, visuals, and character depth. (visuals and sound were the best up to that point at least). anyone can follow the formula for success, it's re-writing it that takes true innovation and genius.

  • @003Godsend

    I completely agree.

FF7 is my most favorite game of all time.

It was a great game then and it's a great game now.

  • i dont know what you guys are freaking out about. if it weren't for games (namely to say THIS game) pushing the envelope, we wouldnt have god of war 3, or mass effect 2, or halo, or any good modern day 3d game. it was games like these pushing the envelope that transformed modern day games. if games were still like the old ff, or the old mario bros, i wouldnt play games. it would be boring and played out.

  • @003Godsend You've only mentioned console games. The true pioneers are the PC industry. Without Baldur's Gate 2, we wouldn't have Mass Effect. Without Battlefield we wouldn't have COD: Modern Warfare. Without Doom we wouldn't have any First Person Shooter. These all started on the PC and when to enhance the whole industry. Half Life for example is being credited of being first in having physics in games.

  • @TerrestialSatelite thank you, i completely agree with you. those games had a very large impact on gaming in their own perspectives, as did ff7. which, to be fair, was also on pc, although im not sure the same applies for pc (it may have been running better graphics then, im a console gamer not a pc one so i wouldnt know)

  • I remember buying ff7, the PC version. Even though it played really slow on my crappy old computer, I had never geeked out so much in my life.

  • that last line is truth! it's been over 10 years, get over it!

  • By the way, they did implement gathering crystals in FF7 ;D Huge Materia anyone? ;D When u've got to visit Fort Condor, Junon UnderWater Reactor, Corel Reactor to prevent ShinRa from getting Huge Materia onboard rocket =P

    aahh, good old times ^_^

  • "welcome to the death of the oldschool final fantasy gamer"

RIGHT ON!!!! I miss those days

  • hahaha XD you just hate people who obsess over it. Very funny and nice review!

  • Dude. It was meant to be sarcastic. Calm down.

  • Hahaha.

  • IDIOT... Play tetris and suck yourself down.

  • ಠ_ಠ

  • @SeedKnightSiefer

    'Opinion' - Look it up.

Just because he hates it doesn't mean you have to.

  • Where is your full review of FF7? I can't find it on your website.

  • It's under the FFVIII review. I think it's part 6.

  • final fantasy vii is just awesome. all limbs of it are connected. just look at some names of the main characters; it takes hours, maybe DAYS to find and unterstand every reason giving the person this name (Cloud-Aerith connection, Sephiroth, etc.)

Everything about it makes you think a lot and its totally impressive how many components you have to put together to know everything of it.. THIS is why I think, it has got the best story of all videogames that were ever made!

  • @RubyKowalewicz Only connected through spinoffs and novels. Otherwise, it was just riddled with plotholes before

  • I dunno...I thought about the game the same way before watching AC oder playing CC. Plus, I think AC doesn't fit the story much, cause Cloud was strong in the end of FF VII and in AC, he has lost all of his courage again...

  • Advent Children and all the other spin-offs have nothing to do with FF VII. VII was a brainchild of Hironobu Sakaguchi, the man behind all the great Final Fantasy games. Advent Children, Dissidia, KH etc. are abominations created by Tetsuya Nomura, who turns Sakaguchi's characters into caricatures for profit. But that doesn't ruin the games at all. Only the reputation of the games.

  • Sakaguchi's characters!? You're kidding me are you!? They were made by Nomura! They were his first characters: Cloud, Sephiroth... Before that he only made the monsters.

Besides, should I remind you who made that horrid FF: The spirits within (or whatever is called) AND the game Blue dragon?

Sakaguchi doesn't make good a FF, it's the entire team. Where would be all the good FF without Nobuo Uematsu? Or Yoshitaka Amano? Or TETSUYA NOMURA!?

FF as a game has died, now is just something to sell.

  • Characters for Final Fantasy VII were written by Kazushige Nojima, based on the characters created by Hironobu Sakaguchi. The original designs for the characters were created by Yoshitaka Amano. All Nomura did, was re-design the characters to look like manga characters. He did that well, I give him credit for his manga style, because it is unique and the characters looked cool. However, Nomura has no right to take the characters from VII or VI or IX and turn them into emos in his spin-offs.

  • Emos in FFIX? O.o

So now the one who makes the scenarios and the one who directed the game makes the characters too? Wow, Nojima and Sakaguchi must be busy doing Nomura's character designer work... Btw, Yoshitaka Amano is the Illustrator, not the character designer.

And must I remind you how much the characters of FFXII sucked? They weren't made by Nomura...

And I don't know why you mention FF VI.

  • I have seen the original concept art for VII and I know the characters were first drawn by Yoshitaka Amano. The character's personalities and backstories came from Sakaguchi, not from Nomura. This is an undisputable fact. I mention VI, because Nomura took the entertaining psycopath Kefka and turned him into a boring clown in Dissidia.

  • And here we go again... ¬.¬

All I'm saying is; a good FF needs all the team.

Look, I have my opinions and you have yours, we can keep with this forever. For example I think Kefka has always been a boring clown *shrug*. And I have some books with original concept art and they are always made by Nomura and later versioned by Amano for the covers of the games. But anyway, the characters aren't the only thing in FF.

  • "FF as a game has died, now is just something to sell"

And who is to blame for that? Is it any coincidence, that the last game to not suck was Final Fantasy IX and that was also the last game that Hironobu and Nobuo fully invested in? I agree, that Spirits Within was garbage, but after making 9 awesome games, Sakaguchi had earned the right to make 1 bad film.

  • Blame the new directors, not Nomura.

1 bad film and one bad game, even with Nobuo's music. If they had Nomura, the characters of BD wouldn't had sucked so much.

The only thing that keps alive now FF is Nomura's characters, check FFXIII. Ligthning is a badass character, but the game sucks.

A good FF can only be good with the entire team. Without Nobuo, Sakaguchi, Nojima or Nomura, all the FF would had sucked. But I don't worship Sakaguchi or anyone because alone they can't do a good FF.

  • final fantasy VII has the greatest story ever made in the history of videogames. just follow it and youll understand why. and some people complain about lack of characters closure in the ending. guess what? the characters get closure DURING THE PROCESS OF THE GAME and then the last hour or 2 of the game is about stopping meteor and sephiroth. now get to crackin on that god damn remake square...

  • well i don't hate you, because hate is a very strong word, but i don't like people who hate others because they love something beautiful.

  • Oh please, it's called an opinion. Everyone has one and is entitled to it. It's pointless to try and prove that FF VII is the worst or the best of the series because that is strictly opinionated. FFVII was my first FF and I love it, but I don't think it's the best of the series, or the best game ever made for that matter. Some people just need to chill and remember that the topic we are discussing is video games. The world would be a wonderful place without trolls, and overzealous fans.

  • @OmegaOwA kinda hard with the starcraft fans

  • @OmegaOwA You don't think FFVII is the best FF? Then which one do you think is the best?

  • I like the comment about how pre-ff7 was all about getting magic rocks. So is ff7, can i say the black materia anyone, or holy as well.

yes 1-7 had alot of using magic gems as plot hooks, but the stories still are different.

  • ff7 was probly the favorite out of 1-9. probly even 1-10. many ppl enjoyed the game, even if the only evil thing tht sephiroth did was kill aerith/aeris. and cloud didnt have any personality cuz ppl dont have different ways of seeing things. basically, to most of u, a tree is just a tree. to others a tree could be so much more. and no i dont mean an alien creature tyvm. clouds personality is there but u ppl dont see it. y? cuz u ppl dont think outside the box. i feel sry for yall.

  • 4 a sec, it sounded like a mac commercial
