This whole feud, though apparently real, is also kind of funny and entertaining. It almost appears to have the makings of a publicity stunt. At some point, they need to get together and shake hands - life's too short.
Shatner and Nimoy were allowing limited photos to be taken after the panel. It was a lottery based win.
This kid won a chance. He lost his ticket. He asked politely to be allowed to anyway. He even had the director of the lottery vouch for his win. Shatner brought the kid to tears with his refusal.
Leonard Nimoy let him take the picture anyway, and Shatner's BG yanked the photo out of the boys hand and ripped it up.
It was all over the Con, and most of us agree, we don't want him back.
As much as I love cap. Kirk, I've heard too many... things about Shatner.
And what does it matter if Sulu is a support chara? Suppors characters, camera men, make-up artists and everybody else deserves the same respect! Besides, Shatner is not Kirk.
I see this conflict as being the result of two men both with a too-big ego.
George had no real acting range or charisma. Maybe the same could be said of Nimoy, but he fit his character, became popular, made the most of it afterwords hosting paranormal shows. It's pure jealousy. If anything Bill and Leonard were a lot more typcast and made the most out of it. If George was so great he could have done other things with his acting. The fact is, he is bland, and that doesn't attract viewers.

What are you saying, George does have range? Do you know what acting range is? The ability to display joy, anger, sadness and make it believable. I enjoy the drama of the situation. I just keep thinking of Shatner as Dr. Evil and Takei as Mini-me. Maybe there was some sick crush Takei had on Shatner and he wants to wear his skin. It puts the lotion on its skin Bill or it gets the media slam again. Who knows, but its funny.
I think the main reason why the clash of George and Bill is a clash of egos and it's a tit-for-tat fight. Why can't these two put aside their egos and find a common ground and work from there.
Well, at THIS point, who can blame him? Since Shatner's books, Takai has been taking jabs at Shatner relentlessly. It was not reciprocated until the wedding snub. Frankly, I think Shatner has a right to defend himself and level the field.

Shatner is just too cool for words. Firstly, let's not forget, he is Kirk. Nothing against Chris Pines,nice kid, did a nice job, but Shatner is Kirk.
And Shatner is TJ Hooker. He is also the guy that, as if to stick a PR24 in critics' eyes, has won many Emmys.
He writes, he's funny on talk shows, he is great on these type of projects, you name it.
And again, let's return to the fact that he has made it with a green skinned chick. Not many people can say that.

George had no real acting range or charisma. Maybe the same could be said of Nimoy, but he fit his character, became popular, made the most of it afterwords hosting paranormal shows. It's pure jealousy. If anything Bill and Leonard were a lot more typcast and made the most out of it. If George was so great he could have done other things with his acting. The fact is, he is bland, and that doesn't attract viewers.

What are you saying, George does have range? Do you know what acting range is? The ability to display joy, anger, sadness and make it believable. He may be a nice guy, he may be an intelligent guy, but he doesn't have much acting range and strikes me as generally bland, if not grandiose and pretentious. And if he is such a nice guy why has he spent the last few decades bad mouthing Shatner? Shatner isn't Laurence Olivier either, but unlike George, he knows it. George is another Robert Reed. Ego.

I heard all the varying comments he was making that were condescending and insulting to George Takei and seemed to reveal his negativity or lack of enthusiasm towards George. I took it as him and George having a personal history..it seems they mutually don't like each other all that much. George T takes jabs at Shatner. Personality clash it looks like. It happens in life. But I didn't get the "condescending, and frankly insulting to homosexuals" in general part you mentioned. Where was it?

@hossrex I'll agree but Takei behaved beyond horrible at Shatner's roast towards Shat, Farrah Fawcett and others. He behaved as the lowest common denominator. I only watched a minute or two of him and changed channels. I don;t care who was being roasted, Takei acted in a deplorable manner.

Just because YOU don't care that it was a roast, doesn't mean that isn't a PERFECTLY valid explanation. That's what a roast is man. You go up and... get this... ROAST the person. Roasting the person means you're supposed to be MEAN... BITING... HURTFUL. That's what a roast is.
