The loco (Class 57) is hauling a Pendolino, because it is on a Liverpool to Crewe drag. The normal route through Runcorn was closed at the time for engineering works, hence the need for Class 57's to haul the Pendolinos via Manchester.
Thanks robmasterman. I am only half an hour or so away from Manchester and sometimes I pass through there, en route to Bury. But these were the attraction yesterday, and will be until nearly Christmas.
So will Eddie be repainted back into normal livery now DRS have lost the Stobart job? Shame really, I can't see DBS painting one in Stobart colours.

Hmm. Would imagine so, but I'm not 100% sure myself.

Its just that this area has become dead for anything interesting since the drags ceased near Xmas

I'm not sure what else is going on. Thanks.

I'm afraid I've no idea at present. Thanks for commenting.

Why is a locomotive (class 91?) hauling a Pendolino? The track there is electrified as the 323s use it.

South West Trains Manchester to Sheffield? :p
Nice bit of variety there, although I'm not sure Eddie would approve of the cleanliness of that 66.
