If gays keep pushing for legal marriage, then they will be asking for a Constitutional amendment banning all gay marriage. Keep it at a local level and don't try to push it on everybody everywhere. Gay marriage is not mentioned in the Constitution at all. Therefore the 10th amendment kicks in in this case. If you want gay marriage legal in all 50 States, then appeal to the collective conscience of the citizens of at least 38 States and you can pass a Constitutional amendment.
