  • Сразу вспоминаю как Толкиен охарактеризовал танец хоббитов брызгу-дрызгу:

    "милый, но несколько буйный" :)

  • i really dont like chorographed routines for comps, but being the pro section, you kind of expect it- esp. with the tricks.

i really like the fact that there are so many people in this final, you always seem to get the same faces (rockstars) so well done, a breath of fresh air!

  • Everybody who was in pre-lims went straight to finals. I'm not sure why they did this, but that's how it happened. Also, not everybody in this is a 'rockstar', since some people don't even know who any of them are. As for one day competing yourself, it's always biased. Lindy hop has no rules, no standards judges are judging by. There are so many ways of doing it as well, a judge can only decide based upon thier own preferences. It's often about coming up with the most surprising trick.

  • @Tiffyshea23 That was my point, since they took that many couples for the finals, it gave the opportunity to dancers that are not necessarly super well known to show some surprising tricks. Most likely, if they had taken only six couples, you would have only seen the "rockstars" there.

  • Why 11 couples in a final?

  • @theholmSTORM Hi, do you think 11 is too many? I think it made for a good show and gave a chance to more competitors to show their stuff in the spotlights.

  • @PatrickAndNatasha I do think it might be too many. And I didn't particularly enjoy this video, doesn't go into my favorites immediately like ILHC 2009 and they had at least 8 couples. It may just be that NJC isn't my kind of competition. I watch this video and I feel badly for the first couple for falling. And two other couples looked off. I think fewer couples might have brought it up for me. Not my event, but my opinion, really liked some of the new stuff like Kevin's first aerial.

  • @theholmSTORM I understand your point of view. At the same time, I think a lot of good dancers might not even try to enter the competition if they know that all the spots in the finals will go to the "rockstars". My feeling was that the NJC spotlights were way more "prechoregraphed routines" orientated than the ILHC 2009 ones.

  • @PatrickAndNatasha That's a very good point, as a young dancer I'd like to push myself and see what kind of potential I have. I'd hate for it to be impossible for me to make a final (should I be talented enough) because all the spots went to rockstars. I am definitely happy to see there are a lot of different events and a lot of people dancing and competing.

I'm looking forward to potentially meeting you in October at Columbus.

  • @theholmSTORM Cool, see you at Rocktober.

  • Can someone please tell me who a re the dancers. Don't know anyone except Nick and Laura.

  • @FraneCiperle I've just posted the scoresheets of the competitions on our blog. You'll find the name of the dancers on the scoresheet of the Pro Lindy. I'll maybe add annotations with the name of the dancers if I find the time :)

  • Pat & Nat - Y'alls did some real nice stuff in both your spotlights. Some pretty innovative dancing. For this comp in particular though - this is a contest won in the air.

  • @HaoleTrio Thank you, we appreciate the compliment :)

  • nick n laura are badass.

  • SWINGOUT!!!!!!!!!
