Steady beat is really important. The students using both hands at the same time are more successful due to physical and brain development. I know they are awed by the size of the bass bars and want to play them, but except for just exploring the instrument, I don't let my K-1's play them. They are so much louder and can mess up the tempo. Teacher on bass bar usually works better. Thanks for sharing.
@jbrad1211 I like having the kids play the big bars because they LOVE them. Yes, if the child on the bass bars doesn't have a strong sense of beat, it can throw the others off, but I'm not looking for perfection here, I'm looking for fun! These students are now at the end of 2nd grade, and they're a great, musical group. They were so teeny here!
