Reminds me of my crazy teenage years when I fixed a CB to the handle bars of my pushbike and starapped a car battery to the cross bar and fixed a half wave silver pole on the back of my bike. Yes, it was am arial 13 foot high!!
Up here in da Nort Voods of Minnesota, 6m is about the only reliable band for 10+ mile comms. 2m is OK, if you can hit a repeater, but otherwise feh. I have to get my ancient Specialized RockHopper cleaned and lubed for Mud Season! We get frost boils so big it will swallow a Dodge 1500 off-road up to the axles, I kid you not. Make a bike and rider disappear. Can't wait!!
I still have to rig up some 6m 1/4 wave for my Rockhopper, plus a battery carrier. I think a headset is a must.
I wish i had my 2510 as ten has been hopping and id like to do portable on 10 from the G/Fs place. My 2510 is in the shop with a bad transmit issue that the radio is blowing the final just from sitting turned on not keyed up.
@radionut63 Hi from uk here, used to be into 26-30Mhz range, but this was in 1992 - 1997 when I was into it, so it's a good 14 years since I had one myself, but watching various radio video does make me want to aquite another one. Unfortunately I live low down, I can't put a twig up outside here, which kind of sucks..
@radionut63 Hi Darrell thanks for the offer but i think i will do some more studying try it again. Do your wife have a friend monica if so your wife knows us lorne & tina thank's lorne
