considering the antiquity of the fil/clip it ought to be a small enough 8mm or super 8 format of movie camera and probably was shot by several cameras/people secretly and then edited together!the news channel will cash in any thing to raise their TRP ratings. It was probably late 60s may be '67, '68 or '66, that was the time when camers became small enough to be smuggled into the sanctum sanctorum! The poor illumination ( ambient light) and the inability to use lights might explain B&W clip

Tirupati was part of Madras state, after state bifurcation it was given to AP.

History shows it was built by a Pandya king, further extensions of the temple by Krishnadevarayudu, which became more famous during Vijaynagar empire.

Dear Friend. I wish to enlighten you that Madras state does n't mean tamil state. Before it existed there was Vijayanagar empire who constructed presnt temple and before it it was part of satavahana empire, an andhra kingdom that ruled beyond tanjavur.

The main temple was built by a Tamil Pandya King, evidence is that you see only Tamil script written on the stones of the main temple. Ofcourse Krishnadevaraya rebuilt the temple surroundings with Tamil, Telugu and Kannada scripts around it. It is during the Vijayanagar empire that the temple became famous.

the ttd back then apparently allowed them to shoot inside the temple but not inside the main temple so the crew had to shoot the god scene with a set...

whats more interesting is the priest (left) was an actual priest in the temple back then...he performed some pujas for that shot in the movie...

to prove that it is fake...some sort of lighting seems to be focused on the statue itself...ttd never allowed to have electronics inside the main temple, not even a single light bulb.

I have complete DVD of this. This was a movie taken by TTD and there was so much opposition after the movie was made and they destroyed almost all the copies of the film. This movie was made in 60s. The DVD is made from the actual film. This is real not fake. When you watch whole DVD you will know. There was so much pressure on TV9 after they aired the program and I don't think they will ever air again. I think TTD don't want anybody to publish the original pictures of the Lord.

yes but there were never light bulbs installed or even brought into the main temple Ever...in that video there appears to be a bright spot light on the statue (like on a movie set)...

My family (5 generations) are from tirupati...my grand father told me that nothing like this happened on tirumala...

The rare footage on TV9 is from the film "Venkateswara Vaibhavam" - A Documentary Film consisting of 2 CD pack which I have a copy of it. But it is really shot for which the TTD had given permission in those days. It has some color footage and some songs sung by Ghantasala Mastaru and Srirangam GopalaRathnam.
