This video reinforced many stereotypes about light skinned people being "bougie" and darker skinned people being ghetto. Historically, Martha's Vineyard was the only upscale beach town in the northeast that well to do blacks could vacation and not feel threatened or uncomfortable. My family has a summer place in Oak Bluffs. I thought that it still was a great movie, however there would've never been a wedding because I would've kicked Lorretta Divine's ass for exposing that secret!!
@TheMdterp About the "bourgious" issue, there are darker-skinned Blacks who think and act this way. In contrast, there are light-skinned Blacks who are ghetto. I don't think those stereotypes hold up much anymore. Not saying at all, just not rigid as they once did.

I.m really surprised at all the negative comments on this movie. However, this is one of the beauties in life, everyone has different opinions. I thought the movie was nice. Yes, it is similar to the movie "Monster In-Law" but was still good. For those who didn't or don't like "Monster In-Law" b/c it seemed like a movie for whites, then "Jumping the Broom" is a good black version of it. Overall, I give the movie a 4.5.

This was a very attractive, goodlooking cast with people of color, which was so refreshing to see for a damn change! Get sick of these overrated (some not all) how superficial Hollywood likes to over "HYPE" these very average looking caucasian actors/actresses, who are not all that attractive, nor good actors (Ann Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, Shia Labeouf). @ama00010 it should not have been made. They didn't get married,so the movie is pointless. Plus there are tons of movies that these great and talented actors should be in rather than this. It's a waste of time.

This was a very attractive, goodlooking cast with people of color, which was so refreshing to see for a damn change! Get sick of these overrated (some not all) how superficial Hollywood likes to over "HYPE" these very average looking caucasian actors/actresses, who are not all that attractive, nor good actors (Ann Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, Shia Labeouf). We need more movies like these, I wouldn't even care if they did a latino version of this movie either, I'll watch it.
