Just listen to his music and lay back and relax. He doesn't have a great voice but great lyrics. Doesn't matter if you're in Michigan, Kansas, Florida, Utah, New York, etc. If you just like having a good time then he's your man.
Some people think its cheesy, but really its all about having a good time, partying in the tropics. Its fun music to me. Its true that his voice isnt that great, but it has its own charm that grows on you. And in general, the songs he writes and simple but very catchy and fun to listen to. You either get it or you dont. I love this music, it makes me happy. If you dont get it, you need to learn to take music less seriously sometimes.
Robin Thais here, sorry, it was a Rolling Stone concert, not a Grateful Dead concert where the guy got stabbed by a Hell's Angel. Mick had hired them for security. I stand corrected.
Does anybody know if this is available on DVD? I want to blare this on surround sound with picture, but I'm not sure where to get this. Any ideas? And sorry SunnuvasunnuvaSailor, but you're still a baby at 16. No arguement that pot does alter you, but after bartending for 16 years, I'd take a pothead over a drunk anyday. And it was a Grateful Dead concert at Altamont where a Hell's Angel killed someone, not Woodstock.
When you go to Buffett concert it's all about the party and there was certainly lots of booze and pot and coke out there that night on Biscayne Bay. Nobody died but some of us woke up in unusual places missing some clothes...what's wrong with that?
Come on now - don't hate. Jimmy's fans are the most dedicated in the world (including me). Don't make fun of the people who love his music. So what? We get drunk at his concerts. That's what you're supposed to do - There's plenty more artists who's fans are more destructive than Buffett, cmon now. LIGHTEN UP!
Thanks for posting. This was the time to see Buffett. I started to see him back in 90, and it has gone downhill ever since then. would have loved to see him in the 70s or 80s.
Whoever's bad mouthing Jimmy is ridiculous. He's amazing. I have a landshark tattoo, and I'm going to his concert in Tampa & Raleigh. I love him. FINS UP PARROTHEADS!!!!!!
Anybody have any video from Somewhere over China Tour? I can't find any! That was a great concert. It had a short film with Harrison Ford offering to fly Buffet's plane.
What are you talking about? I was a huge Parrothead way before I went to a concert. It doesn't take a concert to know anything about Buffett. All you need to know is how to have a good time.
@james92562 dude........until you spend some time in hawaii, You DON:T have A CLUE what this song is about.. make the kid feel an outsider like you were when you joined up, way to be a mentor mr. Dummas

Sorry, I'm a Deadhead and don't care for Rap or Metal, and I don't care for cheesy crap like Jimmy Buffett either. It's nothing but pop crap for drunks!
Now wait a minute! There are some great bands out there right now. My Morning Jacket, Wilco, Widespread Panic just to name a few. I don't dislike Buffett. What I dislike is the drunks that attend his shows. No one ever died from smoking a little pot, as us Deadheads are known to do, but ppl die every day from alcohol. Just sayin'...
a lot of music out there today is, indeed, good. however i do hate the pot is worse than alcohol argument. i believe it was at woodstock a group of high-as-a-kite hell's angels stomped a man to death. plus people who drive high are as impared as drunken drivers. while both are bad, i dont believe marijuana is better than alcohol

no special reason... probably clicking trough youtube listening to music, dont really remember
anyway... i might just have a different taste, the doors/elp/kruder und dorfmeister/ligabue/the who
still i dont think he has a good voice, or some special musical talent that would justify his work as an artist
anyway its ur life coice, i wont try to make u listen to anyting else... but try el-p they make good vibes

Until you have gone to a Buffett concert, you won't understand him or his music.
