  • I hate ROG.......

  • Simon Shaw is a legend

  • i still well up watching that 2.5 years on....

The interviewer...(Graham someone I think?) ruined it by saying "Cmon Shawsy, gis a hug".

    Knob.

  • interviewer was a twat there

  • Shaw was EPIC in that game i had never seen him play so well before

  • he was magnificent and it should have levelled the series but that's the way it goes

  • What legend

  • Thug crybaby

  • @Aussiephil99 thats just uncalled for you criminal bastard. Absolutely uncalled for.

  • @curlyies .....grow up and get your violin out...Shaws a thug. You Brits love to accuse everyone else of playing dirty...this prick is a thug. By the way i was born in England...so I'm not a criminal........hardly any Australians are related to the convicts that were sent. Judging by the riots at the moment in England Aussies could you lot a thing about having a civilised society.

  • @Aussiephil99 Shaws an absolute hero! One of the most passionate around. And im not English nor do i live in England, so the riots wont teach me anything about "civilised society".

  • I will never forget the way the Lions team lost this test. ROG was not at his best on this saturday.

    ps i'm Welsh

    Al

  • aww shawsy :)

  • Shaw was outstanding and gave his all. 100%.

And as a three time Lions tourist, he understands what the Lions is all about.

No one deserved the shirt more.

  • calm down you two, this is a talented and passioante rugby player who knows he hasnt got that many big days left he lost a game he and the team wanted to badly win I love the passion of the big man its the reason he has the shirt on his back.we need more simon shaws big man great rugby skills doesnt need to the 21 century fashion of bulking up.

  • @1984ioc Wow I didn't know that. Thanks! XD

  • First of all: That guy is hot js

2nd of all: he's even hotter when he cries XD

3rd of all: what the hell is wrong with his ear? thats the only non sexy part lol :)P

  • @chasgris91 its called cauliflower ears, rugby players get it from being in scrums etc. so much.it causes the ears to disfigure so to speak.

  • @chasgris91 its called cauliflower ear- when the friction of sticking your head into a scrum and rucks causes your ears to irreversibly deform - the ultimate badge of honour in a world ruled by padded american footballers and pansy soccer players

  • @chasgris91 That is a true rugby player's ear, that.

  • Countdown to Oz 2013 !! My then nine year old son and I watched every single match in our 'local' in Dunboyne and we got the itch. He quits his childcare at the end of June and the money saved is immediately heading into our 'Lions 2013' fund !! Cant wait. Love the Lions !!!!

  • @wolfandcub0070 sounds great bud, hope ye have a great time.Great gift to the child.im sure he will never forget it.looking forward to it already myself after watching these lions videos

  • Its hard for us to imagine how he feels...

You hear about people retiring from their 9-5 office job and having some tears..

well, in effect shaw had retired from the lions...or had realised that the lions had lost and that he would never play for them again...hence retiring from them...

got to admit that hug at the end was a bit cringe-worthy...i mean 'come here shawsy'.... he was probably like 'umm, thanks, that makes it all better! ¬_¬'

  • This was his greatest game ever, such a shame we lost

  • Simon Shaw, legendary english lock, total rugby inspiration. A true gentleman and warrior.

  • he's a welsh idol but bugger me he doesnt half have a pair of cauliflower ears.

  • I'm a welsh man, and I have huge respect for Simon Shaw. He's a idol.

  • @TheRealChadMustang

    you absolute mug!

  • @TheMorsey007 He got man of the match. If he's 'soft', 'a coward' and 'useless', then that must make u a fucking piece of inbred pigeon shit scraped off your dead mothers cunt. You fuckin wank shaft.

  • ok officially english scotts welsh and whoever else makes up the lions team is gay. hahahaha they cry in rugby. there is no crying in rugby unless you australian. but i guess the softies wearing the red jerseys have more in common with the aussies than we thought. shame hugging and crying. bet you they were kissing in the changing room. poor little fags

  • @MegaJeza I bet your IQ is off the charts.

  • I am a rugby player and I admit to crying on some ocasions. Its not the defeats, where you have been beaten by a huge margin that hurt, bt the games when you have given it all you've got for a team that you love and lose by a small margin. I take no shame in crying on these matches, those who ever represented theirteam, college, uni or country in rugby, football or any game will agree with me, Im sure.

  • Bhahahahahaha!!! Go Cry Me a RIVER!!!!!!

  • This is the reason Shaw is awesome. Passion. Stop leaving stupid comments. It's a couple of minutes after a game. You can't tell me that you wouldn't feel the same.

  • @TWYI Oh yeah they won by a whopping one point. So if the AB's are so useless then why did the British press make such a song and dance about it? why do they sitll make a song and dance abiut it?

Why have they not beaten them since?

    And hardly had before that?

    Not very smart are you?

  • I can't believe he got a hug at the end, I've never seen that in a post match interview!

  • im welsh and after his performance in the lions tour i fell in love with him he's in my top 5 2nd rows FACT

  • @TheMorsey007 So what do you think of burger eye-gouging or botha's headbut on cowan as well as all the suspensions he gets for illegal play. Ow yeah, and what about the pathetic childish way they wore arm bands with "justice" on. Now thats a fucking joke!

  • @TheMorsey007

Not really, I'm not complaining about the result, I just uploaded the video because it shows the passion of Shaw and the Lions.

Winding up people on the internet for kicks? Sad little man you are.

  • @theirishneilers

Well done in your replies to this idiot (who has now closed his account).

You didn't lower yourself to his level, when it can be so easy with stupid, nasty comments like his.

Thanks for uploading this. Nice to see a rugby fan who can appreciate a great player, no matter where he comes from.

  • WTF is up with the lion at the end?

  • @TheMorsey007

If you watched that game, you'd know that his performance was not one of someone "untalented".

Take your bigotry elsewhere. Your channel says your Australian, but judging by your comments you're a Welsh person with something against England.

Piss off, by saying Shaw isn't talented you've lost all credibility as a genuine fan of rugby.

  • I was there at Loftus I have to say this game was like watching two heavyweight boxers from the golden age slugging it out. SA were the last man standing, but, I have to say, Shaw's performance transended this epic match. It was an individual performance for the ages.

  • Come on! If the Home Nations decided to put out a full time, 100% on Lions team week in week out, year in year out, we'd cream NZ and SA every time. And they know it. The point is not about 'winning' but playing and honouring a commitment to a game that unites many countries across many cultures and to play that game with style, pride and flair. And the Lions continue to provide that unique pride and flair.

  • @66Nico Absolute rubbish. NZ & SA simply have a better side than the Brits (at least most of the time). In regards to the Lions' lack of preparation argument, the NZ Maori side this year had less than 6 weeks to prepare for games against Ireland & England, and they beat them both.

  • @66Nico I have to agree with you that I take my hat off to a Lion as he goes on a tour to 3 of the strongest nations in the world and have to face club sides that all want a peace of them too then 3 test on foreign soil. They should have made the Lion tour so you play one there and one at home I guess but then it would not be the same. To say you'ld cream us is far fetched though NZ and SA would always be a tough team to beat anywhere, but yes I'd give you the home advantage argument.

  • The Realchadmusta - You know nothing about Rugby or the history of the Lions. Botha is not in Shaws class. He is just a thug! He head butts guys 5 stone less than him! What does Botha offer apart from the odd right hook, headbutt or flying shoulder!

  • @TheRealChadMustang

springboks are the gayest team ever,

they dont diserve to win any RWC..

  • Too much over celebrating of mediocrity in the Northern Hem. If that was a Southern Hem team that had come so close we would be angry with each other.. It's as if these boys were about to get knighted!! What a joke.. They played well but if I was a Lions fan I would not be content with what too place, and I would complain about the lack of tries in the second test, the defending of O'Gara and the BOD's lack of impact.. Jaimee Roberts and Shaw were kings in the Southern Hem!!

  • @mkwapower English as I am, The Boks comeback in the 2nd test AT THAT LEVEL was impressive, irrelevant of the centre pairing and Jones (who in fairness showed "Beast's" limitations) having to go off, it was a hell of a turnaround. But YES, you're right, it was there for the taking and I was bloody upset at last place. Shaw can certainly hold his head high but again, credit to the Boks.....AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

  • All I am saying, is that if South Africa, New Zealand and Australia had almost won a series like that, we would not be celebrating such mediocrity!!

We would be in a state of national crisis!!

  • i felt like crying after that game =(

  • wow... The best of 4 countries combined but they still can't beat the boks

  • @Brademan120 Yes, but only SIX weeks to prepare with players who know sod all about each other apart from trying to take their ribcages apart during the domestic and 6 nations competitions! Unfortunately, The Lions preparation is 2nd class in the proffessional era and as such, winning a series will always be difficult so long as this carries on!

  • he was about to cry

  • Just shows the strongest of all people do have a heart an can put it into what they do best felt sorry for him man =/

  • @TheRealChadMustang hahahahaha who's laughing now you prick! I think you'll find England beat Australia, and you calimed Australia would "rape" England, BOOOOM! you lose, i win :)

  • @ajm6665

hahaha dude England RAPED the aussie scrum.

who suck shit and have the worst forward pack in the world.

the aussie scrum! ahahaha! what scrum do they have???

    i know stronger house plants!

    Rofl.. Lmfao!!

  • @GrungeRocker1000

Have you seen the Australian scrum recently ? In the AI's with their first choice front row they dominated.

The Aussie scrum is no longer a joke.

  • @TheRealChadMustang and you're american so you can fuck right off you yanky twat, no one gives a fuck about you and you're opinion!

  • @TheRealChadMustang

Read my last comment again - it was about more than the game itself. He put his heart and soul into it, and had lot of pride in representing that team.

  • @TheRealChadMustang

representing britain and ireland in a game like that is about so much more than a game - your comment highlights your ignorance.

  • @TheRealChadMustang

This just shows how much it meant to Shaw. I can't imagine Botha ever putting as much into a match as that.

    And Shaw is English btw....

  • who is this prat givin him a hug haha

  • worst referee ever he didn't give burger and red card! and don't anyone hurt poor shaw, he is just emotional and I was 2

  • I've could never work out why they're called the Lions. I mean you don't even get Lions in the UK. A more apt name would be the red deer, the foxes or the badgers.

  • Graham Simmons is a twat of the highest order

  • his proformance in the 2nd test was as good as i have seen from a second row ever, that proformance put him in martin johnson league

  • This interview still gets the fire and emotion burning inside me right now.

To see this man, 6 ft 8 and around 18 stone, choking back the tears because he wanted his efforts to reward the team.

For anyone who wants to play rugby, this is the sort of spirit you encounter. There is nothing quite like it.

Simon Shaw- a credit to himself, his family, and both England and the British and Irish Lions.

What a wonderful series it was, although as a Lions fan a tough loss to take.

  • only premeirship lock to score a drop goal and he had a three man overlap! h

  • Simon was a colossus in South Africa. I hope he carries that form and fitness through this six nations. He seems a top bloke to boot. I agree that its been a real shame hes not had more caps. Final test series result withstanding, it was one of the best tours Ive ever seen, and he played a huge part. All credit to him, and nobody can take that away from him.

  • Solid bloke, hard but fair.

  • id like to see you say that to simon shaws face

    he fucking kill you

  • id fuck him up

  • haha yeh you keep thinking that

  • Passion. pure passion, and that's exactly what England and Britain needed

  • incredible man and player, just achieved a career long dream and man of match, but all he can think of is the team, fabulous team player

  • i think the interviewer knows shaw quite well, not exactly inappropriate

  • I met Simon in a pub a few months back whilst he was over here for a charity do. Really nice guy, i asked him about this interview, what he thought about it, he jokingly said he didn't want to comment. I guess that tells a bit about how he felt. Very down to earth guy, he and his mates had a great sense of humour, wish him all the best, definitely put in a huge effort in this game.

  • greatest player on the pitch by far that day, immense and involved in everything, would have over 100 caps if it was not for some bloke called martin johnson Even Botha said after the match how well shaw was, and botha never ever compliments

  • Nout wrong with a hug. :(

  • Bakies is the enforcer. He does more at the Break down than Shaw ever does.

  • does he fuck, hes jus a dirty south african cunt

  • Always resort to racism when things go wrong.. Typical..

  • @MrUncleadrian Its because of people like you why this World is such a fuck hole...

  • Enforcer lol. He is nothing compared to Johnson in those areas of the game.

  • i think what he meant to say is, in this game shaw absolutely dominated botha. botha is the best normally, but in this game shaw was king

  • @mkwapower Can't show an ounce of respect to another nations player?

  • Simon is a great player and he has been a magnificant server to the game. A true legend.. I was just in atmosphere of Boks vs Lions. I would have Shaw on my team any day..

  • my rugby hero apart from martin johnson

so under rated by england what a shame for us tbh

the best game i have watched and one of the best efforts by a player i have watched.

  • "just wins lineouts" ok....LOL! Oh, BTW, that 'thug' got a two week ban during the series for clearing a ruck... And Shaw got a 2 week ban too... for planting a knee in Du Preez's back.

Shaw was immense during that 2nd test though! Dont blame him for being upset. That interviewer was out of line, and OTT

  • good call, interviewer can eat sh*t and die. He was the biggest man for the lions by a mile. Lions would've stuffed NZ or OZ on that form, just a shame they came up against the best side around ATM.

  • LOVE IT!

  • If O'Connell had given HALF as much as this guy I'd have been happy! O'Driscoll showed throughout why he should have been the captain via his playing, attitude AND non-stop talking. Shaw was simply outstanding, he can certainly come back with his reputation intact! Jan, Arnie and some more top guys we met at Newlands for the Stormers/'Cannes game last year have said he was up there as the stand out FORWARD in the series, cheers fella's and we'll see you in 2010 for a caaaastle or 3!

  • I agree with you on Shaw but I don't think it's fair to criticise POC. He was good in the 2nd test and enormous in the 3rd.

Always gave everything, topped tackle count etc and the lineout held its own vs Matfield and Botha.

  • He was MUCH better in the third but I just kept thinking "too late", didn't do enough "reffing the game" if you know what I mean, Smit conversely was at it throughout all the tests very effectively. However, looking at this interview again, I think we'll agree that Simon should have silenced the interviewer quickly! Then at the end of the pathetic questioning, the pat on the back....please! Oh, just a quickie, next 6 nations? Ireland to carry on??? I'm on the fence, ha, ha!

  • Speaking as a Scot I hated this guy when he played against us, but he seems to be the caliber of man you want on your team. Gutted we lost

  • Likewise, I'm Scottish and nothing but admiration for SS. pharry4life, looks like you should have a word with yourself

  • I'm Scottish too, but Shawsy is by far my most favourite player. Such a lovely guy and a credit to the sport!

  • Him And O Connell Are The Best 2nd Row Partnership

  • I think you might be forgetting Victor Matfield and Bakkies Botha there my son.

  • hah you fuckwit stop trying to big up south africa we know they're a good team

  • I agree with you on the South Africa point, but you're kinda hypocritical. I mean you big up the All Blacks on every 2nd rugby video.

  • jeez like youre gay.

  • "jeez like you're gay" - you're the only faggot on this page and btw people with comebacks like "you're gay" can't call ANYONe useless, trying to cover up for yourself there little fella?

  • Admit it. Youre a fag.

  • it just sums up what the lions means us.

  • a true rugby warrior. excellent guy

  • am i the 1st to notice dat simon shaw has HUGE hands.......lol

  • Itspassion.. Isnt rally just a game!! Its some peoples life!!

  • I would of given him a hug, and I'm Welsh. The guy looked upset, really upset. It's just being nice.

  • After being out in SA for all 3 tests and the emerging boks game where you could clearly see the passion in all the British n Irish Lions players and all the fans, unless you have being on one of these tours its impossible to really appreciate just how much raw passion and emotions run through you when you are there.

All the players have my utmost respect, unless you go on a lions tour its hard to appreciate just how emotional even the hardest grown men can get even you sat reading this.

  • What a dirty titty-boy

  • Shawsy sums up what it means to be a Lion here. Inspirational to anyone aspiring to play the game.

  • for someone who lives in ireland, scotland wales or England and plays rugby, the lions team is the ultimatum, it truly is the peak of your carreer

  • Give us a hug? What a joke!

  • "What did you feel right then, Simon?"

"How much did wearing the shirt in a test match mean to you today?"

A fine example of bovine, banal interviewing.

  • I love the shape of his ears

  • Some still say the Lions dont matter? They always will.

  • Agreed 100% grandslam43. Lions players from England,Wales,Ireland and Scotland bust a gut to get on any Lions tour, and especially to play in a test for them. They know better than any what that jersey means, it's special, and always will be. Long live the Lions!

  • dickhead

  • Thick cunt.

  • STFU YOU JUDGEMENTAL CUNT

  • GFY

  • One of the most stupid comments i've seen on youtube, and thats saying something.

  • Well, you should know...

  • Seriously? From all the video's you've seen, you think That is one of the most stupid ones? It seems to me your judgment cannot be trusted...

  • Comment removed

  • Right well,I'm going to have to apologize for the comment.First of all cause I didn't post it(you can tell from the difference in spelling)and second of all...well for the sake of manners. You'll have to thank my cousin for the comment. However I would like to take this opportunity to thank whoever called me a judgmental cunt(you spelled it wrong by the way), it's the most entertaining attempt at insulting someone. Finally I'd like to say to the eight of you, go hump a dry stool and let people be

  • fucking hell, simon i totally feel for you mate

  • yer I do to, we was mussged so I do feel soo upset

  • means alot to him. seems like a gentle giant. he played a blinder tho

  • man his ear friken hell

  • my hero

  • Simon Shaw is a legend great player and pro but graeme simmons this guy is embarrasing

  • I have always thought that the questions Graeme Simmons asks and the crap he comes out with is pathetic.I can't stand him.Shaw was a broken man and didn't need some ass clown make him look daft on t.v when he was upset.

  • yeh my thoughts exactly "big boys dont cry" i mean its not something Shaw can really contemplate and that guy is like "cmon give me a hug" That guy asked some fucking dumb Q's, How did you feel when the kick went over........HOW DO YOU THINK HE F*CKING FELT!!!

  • thats a broken man

  • poor fella lions didnt deserve to lose

  • class act played brillant so sorry that the lions lost he didnt deserve to be on the losing side

  • passion.

  • well played simon shaw

  • The hug is a bit embarassing. But they know each other, aint a random reporter. And that is really passion, real heart, that is what it means to him. A hell of a lot of sports man could learn from that!!

  • That hug is embarassing

  • You have to feel for the guy. What a blinder of a game he had. I have no doubt that he'll be in the starting XV on Sat.

  • I'm in South Korea and didn't catch the 2nd test. Does anyone know of a link where I can watch the game?

  • Highlights on Youtube ( 10 mins) if that helps.

  • The rugby is available live and on demand at rugbyzone.
