  • Sublime!!!

  • The best interpretation of this song was done by John Candy...

  • she's amazing! though, through the whole video, i only imagined Jerry come out of the piano and mess with the keys xD

  • She's VERY good. But I just don't like her interpretation very much.

  • Easy

    Medium

    Hard

    Asian

  • She's good, but could she do it while a mischievous rodent is adjusting her piano bench?

  • Magical performance, magical pianist..... Pure magic! :)

  • LOLLLL Lang Lang's sounds like a dozen 5 year olds banging away. Bang Bang plays the easier Horowitz vesion and he still makes a mess of it, but he can jump around really well XD

  • if you want to hear it done right, listen to Lang Lang!!!!.....a little bit histrionic, but all in all, a knockout...the girl's beautiful, but weak

  • oooootraaa oooootraaa!!!!

  • bravo!!!!

  • Whoa! Speechless!

  • Lin-sane performance :D

Jung Lin is AWESOME! BEST PIANIST IN THE UNIVERSE

  • i just curious why most of chinese pianist love to shake their body while playing..using hand or head gesture to give highlight at some music piece. i dont blame them, i just want to know.

  • This girl must have watched too many Tom&Jerry movie.

  • I think listista and this young lady are both great pianist. I don't think there is a pianist alive who was attained to skill to play a piece like this that has no "Soul" or "Feeling" in their playing, they have obviously dedicated their lives to this music.

  • @fapestar I think everybody agrees Jung and Valentina are both brilliant. I am one of Jung Lin's fans, she is the one I want to listen to. :D

  • She's a GODDESS, the greatest !!

  • I love the part from 5:16 to 5:42 ~~ the part is amazing !!

  • WWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  • she plays it very well, good technique, but no soul, no emotions, in this case i was audiance and i didn't feel anything, no joy or happiness. Valentina Lisitsa for example plays it Perfectly.

Anyway, it was a very good performance.

  • @hathor100

I feel nothing, no feelings and emotions listening to Lisitsa, she plays this like a machine with no soul, and makes a mess of the faster section, too many mistakes to count, George Li at 15 years old played it better.

There's more emotion and feeling in just this one Jung Lin performance, than in a lifetime of mechanical-piano performances from Lisitsa! LMFAO

Hathor100 you have made insulting comments againts Miss Lin many times before! Stop your trolling.

  • very technically sound, but it feels rushed in some places and almost mechanical otherwise.

i prefer to listen to more "musical" interpretations of the song

  • @wtfpwnz0red Pray tell, whose interpretations are more musical?

Jung's interpretation is extraordinary, as musical as those by Rachmaninoff and Moiseiwitsch. Also you may note her phrasing, tempi, use of rubato, little pedal, all match the interpretations by Rach, Benno, Gilels, Cziffra, etc - It jus can not get better than Jung's, can it? :-))

  • wow. 653 people have no sense of taste or beauty.

  • So very beautiful and full of feeling. I love her performing. ^_^

  • Seriously her pace and rhytm are identical to Cfiffra's and she plays this as fast as Cziffra, why don't you first listen to Cziffra before you make baseless claims. Hamburgers like you should not criticize pure gold like her. Jung's live performance is better than Cziffra's live performance of this piece! Cheers!

  • Comment removed

  • The pace, rhythm bad and sometimes play fast, you hit the wrong tone. So sorry :(

  • @marton01 C'mon man! Who have you been listening to! You know Cziffra? Cziffra's interpretation of this ? Same pace, same rhythm and same tempo as Jung, It's the right way to play this, but you gotta have extreme talent and does she ever!

It doesn't get better than Jung Lin's performance of this! :)

  • @marton01 I agree. I don't like this version at all compared to Maxim someone or other's version.

  • @planethello A Maxim fan! Maxim is lousy, he's the worst. His version is a joke, a travesty mate. He should stick to playing disco versions with backup singers. This lady is one of the best piano virtuso on the planet, her version defines perfection.

  • @marton01 She's doing it live and it's not exactly the easiest piece to play, either. I say she's done a very good job indeed.

  • @marton01 What is 'pace' and 'rhythm'? This is real classical piano dude, not the bs maksim plays. Your terms are wrong, you don't know squat about classical music, you are nothing but a frikkin troll.

  • 8:26 lol.... or its only happened in my comp.

  • superb!!! there are strength and emotions; passion and hope; silence and nature singing!! awesome I may say!!

  • I was actually hoping for a version in which the camera man wasn't panting out of his nose..

  • Comment removed

  • NNNHHH @ 6:52. Did the cameraman orgasm?

  • @bonod1700 @6:52 the cameraman had an eargasm, then he hyperventilated till the end, then he was rushed to the hospital and he recovered! XD That's what you can get with a live TV broadcast.

    She is MAGNIFICENT!

  • @mgbrad3388 LOL

  • Tom and Jerry hehehe :D

  • Sorry, i might be stoned to death here, but i'm going with Hamelin. Really, i know that to dislike something so liked carries some risks, but his version is a thousand times better. She has the ability, but no feeling at all.

  • @DeepAbsentia :-)) I feel the exact opposite, no stones - and I only comment here because the channel that has Hamelin's HR2 blocks people if he doesn't like their comments. IMO Hamelin plays with no feeling, his performance is totally flat: no dynamics, no tempo changes, no rubato, no clarity, uses too much pedal...... you get my drift? :-)

Jung Lin's performance is immensely musical, IMHO the greatest along with Rach's, Gilels' and Moiseiwitsch's Liszt HR2 interpretations :-))

  • @Bret6464 I will try those, haven't before. But after researching for a while, after this piece, i'm getting fond of Vladimir Ashkenazy's versions, i have here a complete version of his Chopin works. I guess i was kind of locked on Hamelin's perspective, but then, i don't know much about the theory of those aspects, kind of a newbie

Thanks so much for the comment

    Peace out

  • @DeepAbsentia Thanks :-)) Ashkenazy is wonderful. On Chopin, greatest interpreters IMO were Rach (his Nocturne 9/2 and Sonata No.2 are on YT), Gilels, Horowitz, Weissenberg and Argerich. And now for me it is Jung Lin, she performs with immense musicality and that gold bel-canto tone that you hear from the great masters. Basically I am hooked on Rach and pianists who play in the tradition of Rachmaninoff :-))

  • @DeepAbsentia Why to leave such negative comment for such magnificent performance?!

  • @lilytoka I'm sorry, but commenting on youtube videos for a while, i knew i could be misunderstood, you see, most people would actually go against my comment simply because i prefer his performance over hers, that old fight about "number 1". You must understand, her version is great, God she is probably one of the most talented musicians i have seen , but i experienced that reaction before.

    Please understand

    peace ;)

  • her fingers blew my mind

  • Hungarian Rhapsody single-handedly inspired me to write a song haha. It's half decent and i would love criticism if anyone is interested! Just check out my channel

  • Yesterday, January 8, 2012, Alexis Weissenberg, one of the greatest piano masters ever, passed away. Alexis was an immense artist and musician who performed in the tradition of Rachmaninoff. Many who love Jung Lin's pianism also love Weissenberg. May he rest in peace.

  • AWESOME PLAYING!!! She is like dunno how many times better Lang Lang, he totally killed this piece!! OMG, this is perfect. Perfect beauty both physically and musically

  • 637 people who hit the dislike button must be hard of hearing or have no taste! trolls n haters get a life, dam fools!

  • @bwinkled At least 500 of those dislikes are by maksim and his entourage. LOL maksim sucks and his people are the worst dirtbags on youtube!

  • @silverbud if you don't hear dynamics in her playing you must be deaf! don't talk stupid when u don't know what u r talking about, lol you look stupid. she went to juilliard and did concerts everywhere, many at lincoln center. critics n world famous pianists have called her a magical artist. jung lin is awesome, the best pianist in the universe!

  • @bwinkled

Which world famous pianists, please? To what sources do you refer?

  • @silverbud garrick ohlsson said 'jung lin is a pianist of extraordinary musicianship, with a glowing tone and pure poise on the concert platform'. ohlsson is one of the best chopin interpreters, won the chopin competition when it meant something.

  • her playing is good but i would not type she beautiful she need more weight

  • She's beautiful and her performance is even more beautiful - incredible! <3

  • This is perfect Liszt.... Exactly what Liszt intended. I put her performance right next to Cziffra's, it's how I imagine Liszt would play it. I love how she does not rely on the pedal and how she does not bang away to produce a lot of *sound* to substitute for true expression.

Only the greatest played this cleanly and this perfectly.... and still evoke emotions the way Jung Lin does.... Great pleasure to have the chance to see her perform.

  • This is too clean. Too precise. Too sterile. Very good but very clinical. Not what Liszt intended. Needs to be a little more asymmetrical and limped. Imagine an old man walking down a dusty road who has had a little too much to drink. This is not music for the academic but for the drunkard....The wowser, the booser, the womaniser, the etc... Most interpreters get this all wrong...a pity.

  • She's Taiwanese... ^____^

  • Comment removed

  • This is such a great performance that the horrible video quality frustrates me to no end.

  • @bioax1x1 You are a racist troll dude.

She's American from Taiwan, trained at Juilliard School, New York, New York U.S.A. and she is pure magic !!!!

  • @36beachbum "She's American from Taiwan" Taiwan is not a usa state nor a city. Im not racist though.

  • @bioax1x1 Jung Lin is American from Taiwan! No different than Arnold S. (The Terminator) is American from Austria, Yo-Yo Ma is American from Taiwan, too many others who are American and came from other countries!

The only thing that matters is Jung Lin is pure magic on the piano :))))

  • @36beachbum

Jung Lin, Taiwanese-American, owns the HR2, she's an extraordinary musician and artist on classical piano from New York :-))

Jeremy Lin, Taiwanese-American, is the new phenom point guard for the Knicks - game's on now playing the Lakers - GO KNICKS!! :-))

  • @Bret6464

Jung's LinCredible !!!!!!!!!!!! Jeremy Lin-Sational outplayed Kobe, XD. Have to start going back to Knick games.

    New York Lins rule :D

  • Прекрасно!!! Джунг Лин, я слушаю Вас каждый день! Спасибо Вам за замечательное исполнение! Jung Lin, you are truly the pinnacle of perfection !

  • at 8:06 does she do all 3 octaves of that run? it seems like she only does the upper 2

  • @RiLeY2011 lol, yeah, i think she only does the upper two...

I dont know why, but the rest of the piece is pretty much perfect.

  • the video is too distracting, to listen to the piece!!!!! ill go back to lang , lang, who is much better, and less distracting,

  • @onekeypianoplayer Lang Lang not distracting? Sorry but no, very disturbing to see him and to listen to Lang Lang play. Jung Lin's performing is very beautiful, so very much feeling and emotion.

  • @onekeypianoplayer I always get distracted by lang lang's weird faces when he plays

  • THIS MUSIC IS A GIFT FROM GOD, PLEASE PROTECT IT AND NEVER LET IT DISAPPEAR!!

  • Jung Lin is a gift to the world !

  • it's soo beautiful to see a different interpretion of the same piece and see how the musians can make it their own!

  • too much mechanical

  • The more I listen to this rendition, the more I like it. Just perfect.

  • see what happens when yo give people access to a piano...make a difference.

  • She's perfect! Magnificent performance...once you get past the distraction...her beauty.... :)

  • good

  • I absolutely love Jung's musical phrasing in this recording. If I had to choose my favorite part, I would say the part after 0:00.

  • so amazing, causes person filming to have small orgasm at 6:53...listen closely :o

  • sexy

  • prfect woman perfect song im in love with both

  • [Insert Asian comment here]

  • Liszt Ferenc was a Hungarian person! :)

    Isten Hozott Drága Jung Lin.

    Rokon vagy a népünkkel :)

  • @Tao1519 She plays with a Hungarian soul, Liszt Ferenc would approve :)

Jung Lin defines perfection in pianism, you should hear her Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Sibelius Nocturne... absolutely incredible! :)

  • @89hedgehog Igen, igen! :) Yes, yes!

I wrote in my first comment:

    Welcome Dear Jung Lin.

    And Last sentence:

You look like our sisters... You are our sister, too... You are Asian, and Hungarians are Asians, too..

we came from the center of Asia, so she is absolutely inconnection with us..

Your comment is perfect. I can not find words..

  • @6:54 the TV cameraman can't contain himself and gasps, overcome with emotion :D

  • 6:54 someone hurls

  • Where's the blues part? lol

  • It seems like to be famous these days...

    *sigh*

.. you have to go to Julliard first

  • Oh my gosh!

I can't even begin to imagine how much time she spent learning that song, and it was incredibly done!

  • thumbs up if tom & jerry brought u here

  • Jung Lin. Megjegyzem ezt a nevet, aki őt hallja nem nevet. Csak ámul! :-)

  • abslolutely amazing!!!

  • she's today's liszt

  • @TheLitepainter Her stature is that she is the one surreal musician performing now :-))

To learn about Liszt and the Hr2, listen to Rachmaninoff, Moiseiwitsch, Brendel and Cziffra play it - then you perhaps will understand that Jung Lin's HR2 is extraordinary :-)) You may possibly pick up that they all use rubato, very little pedal, a fast tempo, changing dynamics - as does Jung here. Hard to believe anyone could ay this is an "abomination", except by a nutcase and troll like you :-))

  • Восхитительно !!!

  • Jung Lin owns this piece, her Liszt 2nd Rhapsody is the best one ever !!!

Bang Bang's version is not even close, lol it's so bad all the cats and dogs run away and hide when they hear him play. Seriously, if LL took lessons from Jung Lin for say the next five years he could actually get there :))))

  • Comment removed

  • Lang Lang's version is 1000000000000000000000000000 times better, but this is also very good.

  • Practice, practice, practice.... she plays so beautifully...

  • How to play like a pro:

    1.) Be asian

    2. )Follow Step 1.)

  • @shabusneliko it's all hard work, has nothing to do with asian, cos im an asian too, but i know ur just kiddin take it easy

  • @shabusneliko How to play like her:

    1) Have awesome piano skills, practice for 20 years

    2) Play Rach's 3 before going to Juilliard

    3) Have the talent n be a composer

    4) Be as beautiful

    5) Be Jung Lin

  • She's very beautiful, her performance is totally brilliant... It just doesn't get any better.... Liszt would have loved this !!!

  • Incrível Fantástico Extraordinário, uma verdadeira viagem graças este compositor e magnitude e precisão da interprete

Amazing Extraordinary Fantastic, a real journey through this composer and interpreter of the magnitude and precision

  • How could people honestly dislike this? This is really good! One of my favorite live performances.

  • thumb up, ha magyar vagy! :)

  • She's a GODDESS on piano!

  • she's anyway AWESOME

  • SO BEAUTIFUL ! im playing this piece (im 11) and my mom qualifies me a 'late beginner'

  • I know it's cool and all that she doesn't use much pedal, but I don't like it that much honestly. It just doesn't catch the emotion as good as with pedal (or another kind of emotion)

  • @shenkeey I totally agree with you.

  • Extraordinary!!! Despite lacking sound quality (live telecast at Aspen Festival, stage set up in a tent on the lawn, single TV camera mic)

Jung Lin is an extraordinary musician with crazy-great technique and immense artistry - she performs in the tradition of Rach, Horowitz and Gilels; with little pedal, a surreal bel-canto tone and color, and clarity :-))

Listen to her Sibelius Nocturne on YT, it is immensely beautiful, with great sound and recorded at one of her Lincoln Center recitals :-))

  • Sorry but I really did not enjoy that performance or the sound of this particular piano.

  • @AfroPoli Jung Lin is American! besides race doesn't matter, only how briliant she plays. You are another racist who has something against Asians. Not surprising! you are a fascista from the birthplace of fascism and Mussolini!

  • 5:37-5:56 her fingers look as if its been fast forwarded

  • i'm playing this piece too and it'so beautiful

  • Tom & Jerry :)
