Thank you for putting this out. I love this music, I love your spirit and your drive to teach us interested in organ!, These are very useful techniques!! God bless you sir!
I had no idea how funky blues scales sound on the organ. They sound great on the piano too, but the organ adds a whole new dimension. Thanks for the video.
I'm 16 years old and just learning to play this beautifull instrument.
Thanks to you i made a little progress =)
Do you have any ideas on what are the best steps to learn playing this instrument? There are not exactly many teachers or peers who can help me out xD
Now i just try to learn some easy songs, but i guess i can't keep doing this if i want to make any progress.
I bought a full Hammond XK-3(3)c with 2nd keyboard and classic wooden hammond stand from someone i know. the guy never played it and just wanted to put it away in some dust old garage..
Now it's here and i'm learning to play it.. and thanks to you i made a little progress =)
Do you have any ideas on how to continue? It would be great if i got a little help.
So glad I found this. I'm a fairly competent guitarist thinking about buying a Nord for my small-town funk/soul band. The theory you explain here is awesome - and feels soooooo good and funky! Thank you for sharing your gift.
Great Work. Im a Singer / Guitarist, and ive got an old Hammond sitting in my garage.i jammed with some buddies recently, and spent an afternoon comping chords on organ, i decided i would learn to play it. im going to mess with learning this blues scale until i have it down in any key. Thank You! - Chris
Wonderful. The great thing is, if you feel it then that's the first step. Many people try to play something they can't even feel. You can learn to translate that feeling into tangible chords. You just need to memorize more and practice expressing yourself musically. Remember the music comes from the individual not the instrument. From the man not the machine. From the person not the piano. Lol. Should I keep going. From the dude not the drum. Lol
Thank God for black folks. I am a non-religious white guy who loves the soulful legacy you carry and share. You bring something that makes the world a more joyful place.
Yeah, I know. Im sure it sounds strange, trite, maybe even dumb. Nevertheless, its real; and you and your music remind me. Its a culture and a feeling that you live and play. Its great and its powerful and I wish I could play it myself.
Im a drummer who took up the piano because he wanted to boogie like Jerry Lee,Johnny Johnson, and Marcel Richardson I havent even approached the organ aside from the Korg M1 I play. Thanks to you Ive already learned to play something cool "organwise".
just writing to say a big thank you for this video. Your the first person on here to make me suddenly understand how the Blues scale fits together, and how it goes into Gospel music. Keep up the good work!
its about someone slow down the processs to help younger musicians learn how to play organ due to the fact that your left hand must accompany your left foot, please!please break down your chord progressions THANK YOU, and most of all be BLESSED ...........P>S Hymns would be NICE
Doc, I appreciate this. Man, a lot of the older musicians would have loved such a tool. You help simply a process that was once considered "difficult." However, you constantly mention the key to it all: PRACTICE! Bless your ministry.
Thanks, I'm a starter. I'm gonne practice Em, it is new for me. Nice to use a lot of black keys.
Thanks again.
