Minako's lyric tells us that if we have lost heart she will give us a true, sincere, kind and faithful heart [minoru kokoro]. This image of receiving the true heart and mind originates in Shinran's interpretation of the larger sutra on Amida Buddha. This teaching is preserved in the Jodo Shinshu school of Buddhism. Minako Honda's funeral was at the Jodo Shinshu temple, Tsukiji betsuin. She was a Bodhisattva who shared her goodness and gentility with us. Now she is a Buddha. Greg G. of Portland

Minako,like Dvorsak, always gave us beauty. Minako may not have had the vocal abilities of Beverly Sills and Dvorsak was not Beethoven, even so...I can listen to Minako every day. I love Beethoven but on a day when I'm a bit down I'd rather hear Dvorsak. We all wish that Minako had lived longer but she put so much warmnth, sweetness and sensuality into her performances I feel that she must be singing to the Buddha right now. Perhaps I will meet her in Amida's Pure Realm one day. Greg G.

Minako was a bodhisattva who thought she was just a cute tokyo girl. Now she is a Buddha and the beauty she could express in this realm as matured beyond our full understanding. I hope too that you will meet her one day in a realm of purity and goodness. For now there is living this life.
