Guys, let us all agree that Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are equally the two greatest film trilogies ever made. Neither is better or worse than the other. The Lord of the Rings books inspired the Star Wars movies, and the Star Wars movies influenced the Lord of the Rings movies. In many ways they both feed off of each other. I think both J.R.R. Tolkein and George Lucas are the two greatest storytellers of our time. J.K. Rowling only wishes to be like them.
Should drop the whole 'episode 4,5,6' thing and leave it as their original names. I'd rather get this than the blu ray one, least this one is less broke.
they called dvd the ultimate format and i agree blu ray is nothing but better quality with dvd we dont have to rewind all the time like with VHS and with tv shows we dont have to wait for 436 tapes before we get the whole show and we can actually get more then 1 episode of a show when we buy it i think dvd's is the best format ever
I adore all the original Star wars trilogy movies all just as equally!
God I miss the days were movies were all about characters, story and great action like The Star wars trilogy, Terminator 1&2, Blade Runner, The Indiana jones trilogy and The Back to the future trilogy, now it's all 3D 3D 3D! :(
@SergeantLuke yes of course and im not saying a bad word about the books or the films, BUT the innovations the Star Wars trilogy made, and particularly the impact they've had on cinema and popular culture was a major influence of Lord of Rings, i mean more so than they are on alot of other movies. Peter Jackson himself stated that Star Wars played at least a minor part in influencing the movies.
i bought this on dvd but i didnt know that difference between gold and sliver so i got the gold and it was in full screen ugh so i started watching the single dvd with the original version before the late 90s retouch then the stores stoped selling them oh well if i want this in widescreen im going to have to wait till the blu rays come out
I remember my cousin taking me to the local video store at midnight to pick these up...only to be stranded there until 2AM when he locked his keys in the car.
when will they bring them out in blue ray all six in one box set with both the original versions of the original trilogy and special edition and digital copy
I hope the next time this gets released to the home market, let's hope they can find the best surviving prints of the original (non-"Special Edition") trilogy!
This trailer was awesome, but I think it would have been much better without the video game and Episode III preview scenes. I have each Star Wars movie on DVD (the Original Trilogy in both as this box and Limited Edition DVD's). I really love the original movies and they were a very important part of my childhood. The Prequel Trilogy wasn't that good, and with all due the respect to Mr Lucas, I dislike what he has done with the Original Trilogy in recent years (adding new scenes etc).
The Special Features on the DVD BoxSet could have been alot better. I too own both The Original Silver BoxSet from 2004, and The Limited Edition DVDs from 2006.
holy shit, I remember how many times I watched this trailer because I was so excited about this box set, then I bought it the day it came out. Then two years later George Lucas
re-releases the trilogy individually as two disc sets with the original version. that really ticked me off cause that is what the box set should have been.
Lol why the fuck is Godzilla even looking at the trailer? You are calling star wars fans nerds , but yet you go to a youtube star wars trailer to talk shit to random ppl online...yea your cool. lol what a dumbshit.

Stop making a big deal over Star Wars. There great movies, but how about getting a life everybody. Your just giving that asshole Lucas more of your money. You guys are dorks and nerds. Go fuck yourselves!!!
@godzilla0083 it's our money to give, asshole. why dont you concentrate on your own economy? I dont know about you, but I work 16 hour days, often 18-20 hours, and the money I make is fucking mine to spend how I want. Some assholes steal their entertainment, others understand the value of work and pay for it.
@godzilla0083 star wars is better than any other movies certenly better than star trek, better than lord of the rings and way way way way better than godzilla
First of all Star Trek came before Star Wars. And Star Trek is way more better than Star Wars. Star Trek had many movies, tv series and video games. Star Wars had the movies, which a few were good, shitty tv series (clone wars), and especially the games. Both franchises are equal with each other.
@godzilla0083 no 2 b fair the story itself is epic and brilliant.t he acting and fx are also awsome, but I agree with u that without Williams Star Wars wouldn't have been as successful or popular and...well it just wudn't b star wars without it
I already had this trilogy and I still watch it again and again...The Empire of Dreams is worth watching and also the enhance version of the trilogy.....
I've been putting off Star Wars DVD until the original versions are enhanced for 16X9 TV (but we already have the original version of episode IV on fullscreen VHS) My stepnephew loves Star Wars more than I do but he doesn't understand that the movies were altered so frequently.
This set SUCKED. The colors were all wrong, the picture was too dark. The sound in ANH was all wrong (swapped channels, sound effects drown out the awesome music in the rebel attack on the death star trench.. but not on the French track, deliberate creative decision my ass!), and the original versions are NOT included.
The original trilogy was famously known as star wars, 'empire, & 'jedi until fucking retarded episode 1,2,3 come to life

Bet you didn't know these films were historically inaccurate?
That's right, most of what you hear about Star Wars is leftwing propoganda spewed out by the damned liberal media.
For a Fair And Balanced view of the Star Wars universe check out the featured video on my page entitled "Is Yoda A Terrorist?".
Stay safe. Vote Jesus.
