But the real problem is not people going hungry but people wanting above themselves that is the real motive behind theft, the vicar should really be thinking about "Thou shalt not covert thy neighbours goods".
i'd love to say "shocking!", except i'm not shocked.
where's the advice for the affluent to give to the poor? was there any admonission on the wealthy in any sense to be charitable?
nope. make your own charity, in the form of thievery. master stroke. a basic admission that the rich don't give a fuck about the poor, so you might as well steal from them
I think I remember a verse somewhere in the Bible that said that if you were walking through a field - and you were hungry - that it was acceptable to take some of the harvest of the field, so long as you ate it there, and did not take it with you when you left the field.
I would think someone who is hungry enough to steal a can of ravioli could just as easily find a soup kitchen. Or, how about the hungry person ASKS a restaurant or a grocer for a loaf of bread and a package of bologna?
Perhaps they should close all these large buildings they have for "worship" and stop hording all the money they get from tithes and then they can do what the church should be doing... helping the poor and needy.
I'm actually impressed to see a priest offer a practical solution to anything, even if its a poor one. We can find hypocrisy in almost anything they say, I'd rather not grill them when they start to make sense.
I understand your comment. My problem with his is he is speaking as a priest. This advice goes against his very own dogma and ,In my opinion, it is not sensible to tell his congregation that theft, no matter how small, is the answer.
Dual Ranger - you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Thanks for the video of sanity!

Isn't that an incitement to crime? Silly man!

You know what? I *agree* with Mr. Jones. If someone does not have anything to eat, I think it's morally justified for him to steal food.
But then again, *unlike* Mr. Jones, I don't have to follow that list of commandments in that silly book of his :-D

This must have been one of those commandments on the legendary second tablet that Moses received but broke on the way down. Oops!

He thinks he's Robin Hood!! Aww.
I don't think I'd mind as much if he wasn't directly going against a commandment.

Exactly. It's HIS own dogma he is preaching against!!
