  • He is amazing! Just listen to the power in his voice!

  • Can 't wait to see you at Hofstra in Jan. You're the only one who should ever sing this.

  • Can 't wait to see you at Hofstra in Jan.

  • Does no one like Michael Ball's version of the song? Or am I just bringing bias into it, being an MB fan from Les Mis?

  • Robert Cuccioli is the only man alive allowed to sing this song, IMHO. :)

  • How many people did this song for the musical? And who was the first one that sung this song

  • Where was this? It's not the worst outdoor location thanks to be buildings nearby, but there was no guarantee even Robert could carry it off out there. But he did!

  • Although Robert Cuccioli is still Awesome

  • Anthony Warlow was the best! :)

  • Obviously you haven't heard Anthony Warlow singing it then.

  • He was awesome in the show, one of the best performances I've ever seen.

  • His understudy Frank Mastrone is a better singer.

  • hey try my song, just type joey villamina this is the moment on youtube,i hope u like it too

  • Comment removed

  • I think Rene Froger is singing the best version of this song. Just take a look: Rene Froger - This is the moment

  • He is good, but I still feel Anthony Warlow brought something special to that role that nobody else could.

  • Such emotion.

  • i cant belive most people favor the teen singers of this JB can suck it Rob forever

  • yeah i wanna sing like that

  • LOVE HIM best jekyll/hyde by a long shot just INCREDABLE

  • Years of obsessing over this musical since performing the music in high school marching band and now I finally get to see the ONLY man who has ever done the part justice in the flesh! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! =D

  • The greatest challenge for any singer is to sing outside and be able to produce great vocal production. Cuccioli is a master of this! He has not failed to amaze me with his technique. Bravo, Robert!

  • no it's the easiest thing to do as a singer to be able to project their voice even though they are singing outside.

  • I can't find anymore where Cuccioli sang on Rosie O'Donell show. It was removed! Please help. I really liked that version!

  • No one can do it like Cuccioli. I saw him in the play many time and he can sing, sing, sing as well as act! I wish they would revive the play.

    No one can compare

    Cam Brooklyn, NY

  • oh singing in the morning...how I hate doing it haha

  • Bob Cuccioli is amazing as Jekyll & Hyde. But i most certainly love his Hyde more than of his Jekyll.

  • @MichaelCrawfordsFan Bob Cuccioli ??? i only know of robert

  • Notice the women watching him...hypnotized. I too was hypnotized, in '97 ...I saw his play 7x and didn't care paying for $75/ticket each time. It was worth it but I won't be that silly again...ever ever. i hope.

  • If you like this video please also check out BRAD ROBINS' version of "This is the moment" thanks :)

  • Good version, but I've always preferred Anthony Warlow's rendition.

  • I would have to say, that under these circumstances (singing early n the morning and singing outdoors) I think Robert performed quite well. He surely sounded better here, than Hasselhoff ever sounded, even with the very best acoustics.

  • Rober Cuccioli was the best Jekyll & Hyde. I saw most of them. This was sung live in the Plaza--not the best accoustically. Nonetheless, He sang it amazingly well. He was robbed of the Tony!

  • He isn't playing The Phantom. This is from Jekyl and Hyde

  • wow...show's how much you know...he is one of the most acclaimed male broadway actors

  • Yeah, seriously...

  • Yeah he can

  • you're retarded and obviously don't know what you're talking about.

  • AWESOME!

  • Robert Cuccioli was the best Jekyll/Hyde there was. Sebastian bach can suck it

  • crazyoswaldbanana:

Robert Cuccioli was the best Jekyll/Hyde there was. Sebastian bach can suck it

    >

    >

    So can the Hoff!

  • Ok, this is better than most versions of this song on youtube, but the vocal technique is always way off-- I just feel like the music, and the character deserve so much more than what they're being given by the performers-- and I say this as a performer.

  • Listen, I don't realy agree with what people say, maybe his voice wasn't well (singers get ill too, and have to perform with there instrument regardless, like i do at he moment) I thought this was a great performance, great hand gestures/Presence.Performance is not all about singing. It's how about you bring it. he did amazing. Don't forget Warlow ,had to leave Les Miz (for a while)due to voice problems.Don't get me wrong, Warlow is the Ultimate Jekyll/Hyde Though.

  • I agree with that performance is not all about singing techniques, but Anthony Warlow didn't leave Les Miz because of voice problems. He left Les Miz because he was cast as the phantom in Phantom of the Opera. There's nothing about voice problems there.

  • He sounds like he could have been ill, or stressed. Because Cuccioli has such a lovely voice. And Warlow had non-Hodgkins lymphoma. a form of cancer :-(

  • nice version, and I agree with the guy commenting on the fact that his environment(outdoors) is awful to perform in, but still a good performance from Bob.

I know people don't like to hear people asking to check out their versions of the songs, but I have just recorded this song, due for release back Norway, and would love to hear peoples opinions:)

  • I don't see an earpiece. In this environment, it is easy to think one has to push in order to be heard. You can never separate a singer from the acoustics he is performing with.

  • well, this is a very polished performance. however, i find the sound spread and unfocused, the larynx is high because the breath is high and there is a lot of subglottal pressure (he's pushing), which is not healthy for the voice. You can hear the wear and tear of it on his voice at times (especially "I will always recall")...too yell-like. I wouldn't want to hear him have to sing it twice in a row...he'd burn out.

  • If you love this song and would like to hear a GREAT version of it, search for a guy named Kurt Bowen on Myspace...WOW!! (YouTube won't allow me to post the actual address- sorry:)

  • id like to c him play javert!

  • in fact i believe he did do something with the role of javert!

  • You can hear how harsh the score was to his voice, but nevertheless a fantastic peformance with a great end note.

  • I also sing this beautiful song.

    please checkout my live recording.

    id love your honest opinions.

    regards dave..

  • I am a twelve years old girl living in sweden. I love to sing and have made this song in a swedish version. If you like you are welcome to listen in my channel. I really love this song and this version is the best at YOU TUBE !!! Rated Awesome of course.

  • Yup. He's the best to do this part. No question. His balance between supporting the technique and the acting is what makes him so great.

  • Im sorry but im gonna have to go with Anthony warlow for jekyll and Hyde....and Phantom

  • i share your oppinion, warlow have got a very clear voice i think. it's a bit better... but this is not bad, too

  • oh my god. i have chills. he is so... amazing. simply amazing.

  • robert cuccioli is a god

    honestly

    he's amazing

  • I love Robert singing this song - his passion, his emotion makes you feel and understand the true meaning of this song - bravo Robert bravo.

    Excellent stuff, cheers

    Lyn (Sydney, Australia)

  • I love his emotion. It made me smile :D

  • I' with you 'spiceofmadrid' I get so wrapped up in Roberts rendition. I think the way he sings it is exactly the way it is suppose to be sung - "strong and emotionally charged" - for such a pivotal moment in the play - EXCELLENT.

    cheers

    Lyn (Sydney, Australia)

  • wow thats the fuckin dumbest thing i heard "bboymasochist", i sing on broadway for one of the greatest high school theatre directors in all of canada, and i've sang this song just like that, and i can still sing all sorts of kind of music with and with out backround.

  • This mans voice is pure joy to my ears.

  • The thing about most Broadway singers is that their voices sound great with the acoustics of the theatre but they sound hollow and empty otherwise. The echo adds to their voices, and without it, they don't sound very good.

No doubt Rob has a great voice, but he has no idea how to sing in terms of technique and the like.

  • well actually singers are trained to project their voices no matter where they are. True acoustics add to voices, but alone singers voices aren't usually hollow and empty. Plus he's singing outside. Anyone would sound a bit unsupported if they were singing outside.

  • Perhaps it is my opera upbringing. I personally have a hard time most of the time listening to Broadway recordings, because it picks up just the pure voice, rather than the reverberations that make actually being at the theatre more exciting. It doesn't exactly cut it for me, but then that's just my opinion.

I listened to this again, and it's really not so bad. He has a good voice.

  • Take a look and listen to Robert in the video from the stage play itself, its here on YT by tuber 'bdtb' it may change you mind about your comment 'he has no idea how to sing in terms of technique and the like' - he is really very very good.

  • wasn't he the origincal broadway jekyll/hyde

  • yes and the best

  • no not the best Anthony Warlow from the oringal 1991 concept album was thee best

  • true anthony warlow was fantastic but his voice it to clean and pure for that role... rob is the best at this role. Now anthony as the phantom makes ya melt

  • sounds like adam west :|

  • He's trying too hard.. :P

  • this guy is a butcher

  • He's rather orange. :)

  • i agree he did this better on broadway, but there's 2 things to note. first, it's a much different thing singing on stage than on tv. you have to downsize everything because the camera's so close. second, i detect a slight case of strained vocal cords. if you listen VERY closely, his voice wobbles and becomes ever so slightly hoarse at the words "with" (2:44), "always recall" (2:52) and the last note "all" (near the end of his holding it out at 3:15).

  • Not to mention on stage you can't see the audience because of the lights...

  • If you watch Robert in the stage version of this song (which is on here by tuber 'bdtb' you'll see Robert sings 'always recall' with that little crack in his voice, even the song version (also on here by 'phanaticaljekkie') is like that too. It must just be the way he sings it - so awesome.

  • Love love LOVE him, but his tan looks like a cheeto. :P

  • omg...he is my new love

  • this is probably the worst i've heard Cuccioli sing this song...he's good otherwise. This is about average though

  • good singing but vocally not on the par with Anthony Warlow...

  • Robert Cuccioli is the best hands down.....this version doesn't do this song its justice though.

  • excellent voice...but the german borchert is as good, they fall in the same category as freeman and barton...4 great singers

  • Sadly, we never got to see Warlow perform this role in the show itself so I don't know how people are able to make a comparison in terms of Cuccioli's and Warlow's acting abilities. What I can say is that Warlow's portrayal of the Phantom was astonishingly good and not just because of his sensational voice, it was the whole package including his characterisations, energy, movement and evident passion. There's a strong reason he was chosen for the world cast of Les Mis, he's the world's best!

  • Robert Cuccioli was born for this part, it's just incredible, he's just perfect! I just watched the Swedish version of the musical and it was incredible, but I mean, Robert is just.. BEST!!

  • I just watched Warlows version, I felt like I was watching some evangelist on sunday morning. Yea he does a good job singing this song but Cuccioli is freaking singing outside and you believe that he is Jeckyll and Hyde. I think the band is actually off key and it still doesnt throw the guy. F U 700 club

  • I don't care what anybody says, Cuccioli *IS* Jekyll AND Hyde...Accept no substitute.

  • I love this song robert cuccioli is fab he has a great voice I don't think there are any songs in J & H that i don't like

  • so mediocre, its my least favorite of all the J&H songs(complete work) not that broadway trash they put out, but this is by far the worst version of it ever. Warlow is the best Jekyll and moreso Hyde, but i'd have to say Rob Evans does the best on this particular song, i've heard him sing it like 5 times in concert and its always great

  • OOPS...

as I was saying, singing is not the same as performing.

    Just IMO.

  • I completely agree

  • I have listened/seen many versions of this song, and I must admit that Cuccioli and Wilkinson have done the best job. I agree that Warlow may be the better singer, but singing is NOT

  • Warlow is the bet5ter singer, but Cuccioli is the better musical actor. When he sings you feel it!

  • He's great but NOBODY beats Anthony Warlow's version of this song...

  • Robert Cuccioli is my favorite Jekyll and Hyde.

  • He is so flat in a lot of places that it really detracts from his singing. The held "Done" is about a semitone down. Fair enough some slight flatenning with straight tone before the vibrato kicks in is expected, but his pitch really was very off in too many places with this. May have just been having an off day, given the multitude of comments on here....

  • Here is really good BUT....Listen to Anthony Warlow...NOBODY does this song like HIM... NOBODY

  • that's true...but I just think Robert Cuccioli is excellent, and Anthony Warlow is too excellent.

  • He is my favorite Jekyll and Hyde...And OH MY GOD!!! This song is so POWERFUL!!

  • Bach needs to kick this guys ass!

  • I have seen Robert do this live on Broadway and it is truly amazing to watch him live...His recordings do not do him justice. He owns this role...Please check out my video of me singing the Confrontation from Jekyll and Hyde on my page...Thanks...

  • Oh, he's got DIMPLES! ^^

  • Cuccioli is the best - it's not only the voice but the presence, the passion he brings to the role.

  • He has a nice tone but strains way to much. Probably why he blew his voice out on Broadway. The song is very demanding and one that can sing it with ease it Anthony Warlow. Srr Robert =(

  • agreed. good voice but you can hear the strain in his voice. plus this is a very difficult song in terms of dynamics and tessitura. sing like this on tour is definitly going to bust your vocal cords

  • Well after singing this song twice in a row it can blow your voice!

  • Wasn't the role created for a tenor anyway?

  • I think he's OK but like I said each person to play Jekyll/Hyde had weaknesses. Warlow was a bit better at this song

  • Not a patch on Anthony Warlow's rendition.

  • Where is the best possible place to get the actual vocal/piano sheet music at the most convenient price?

  • Considering they couldn't get Anthony Warlow to play this part when the show opened on Broadway, Robert Cuccioli is PHENOMENAL

  • you poor tormented soul...

  • Seriously, is that a joke?

  • is your soul mortred???

  • Please.. you can't be serious. Hasselhoff's rendition has always been laughable.

  • Cooch is the man!!!!!!!

  • Hasselhoff????? god bless him, it's like putting a t-ball player in the big leagues!

  • He's also fairly good rolling around hotel rooms in a drunken stupor.

  • It is insulting to Cuccioli in my opinion to compare this very REAL SINGER to David Hasselhoff (luv ya David, don't be mad) so let's not go there. I have rehearsed my ass off to hit the notes in this song and I can tell you that Cuccioli impressed the hell out of me. Leave it at that. A vocal tour de force. Bravo!! I have often wondered how Tom Jones would do singing this song. A young Tom Jones would have owned it for eternity but still I wonder about the present day Tom Jones. I wonder.

  • He's better than David Hasselhoff, that's for sure.

  • This is not the best performance by Robert C. but I saw him do it on Broadway and it will always give me chills. He's spectacular in person!

  • I think what a lot of people are saying (and I agree with it) is that Warlow sings the best vocally, but Cuccioli performs the song the best because you can hear and see his transformation throughout the song.

  • Good, but a bit wooden.

  • I think Robert Cuccioli tells a great story with this song and has a great voice as Hyde but....

I'm a Warlow fan to the end and his power and voice virtually recreate the song as he sings it.

  • This is not the best performance by mr. robert but I think he has the best voice, and I like his transition from the beginning to the end of the song. I also believe he captures both roles flawlessly.

  • now pwer behind this song at all- too breathy and dull....does he do better with other songs? (of course nothing could be as bad as Hossellhoff

  • Not the best performance of Cuccioli. Still I like him the most. Warlow, true, is a better singer, but Cuccioli made the biggest change in his voice when he became Hyde and that's why I like him. He's the best Hyde if seen and heard yet!

  • I am talking about Warlow's peformance on the 1994 concept cast in comparison to any of Cuciolli's or Evans performances or recorddings.

  • Vocally Warlow is the best. Warlow never played Jekyll, however vocally he blows both Cuccioli and Evans out of the water.

  • WOW what a superb voice. Roberts version of this song is brilliant. I love the way he enunciates each word with such PASSION and EMOTION and his range is awesome.

    Magnifico, bravo Robert. Bello

  • Cuccioli captured the essence of this song quite brilliantly. He pays attention to detail to the lines being sung, and you can hear the evolution of the character from beginning to end.

  • Cuccioli portrays the role very well. His voice is amazing and he acts the role. Great job.

  • Robert Cuccioli is so amazing! I love the way he sings this song! ^.^

  • I'm sorry Cuccioli fans but that was not a great performance, this guy doesn't even come close to Anthony Warlow. Please check out the concept recording with Anthony Warlow, Linda Eder and Carolee Carmello and then come back and tell that in all honesty you still think this guy is better.

  • The reason i like rob evan better is when he sings "Damn all the odds...". I love how he sings from that line on. But this guy has such control with his voice, and i like him better than Warlow.

  • This is unbelieveable, I do think Rob Evan is the best, but this guy is in a close second.

  • rob evan is good......but cuccioli is JEKYLL/HYDE. hes the original and therefore the best

  • well, actually...

The first ever Jekyll was Colm Wilkinson, in a largely forgettable concept recording.

Then came Anthony Warlow, who is clearly better than Cuccioli and whose interpretation Rob Evans seems to have used as a base to build on

    THEN came Cuccioli

  • but cuccioli is the man who originated the role on Broadway

  • Sorry guys but Robert is still the best. He's go the range, power and EMOTION which everyone else lacks.

  • i love this guy he is awesome!

  • Bravo~~

I made a piano version of this song, come to my box~^^

  • He;s good, I literally JUST saw him in Hamlet in DC..he was Claudius. Good stuff.

  • i liked it, he showed he could sing and i liked how he acted the parts, usually people sing this song without acting the part.

  • good, but not as good as anthony warlow :P

  • One of the reasons why i like Cuccioli as Jekyll/Hyde is because of the fact that, Jekyll/Hyde sound so different from each other

  • wonderful!!

question: what happened to the screen test of Take Me As I Am?? thats like my favorite song from the show!

    :(

    (n00b question lol)

  • I don't agree. Warlow is far superior vocally to Crawford and Wilkenson.

  • I think Crawford is better

  • I agree

  • OOPS LOL , I was so excited about it I forgot the damn URL .

    YT.(com)/watch?v=PdilChc7FRM)

  • I found this on YT by chance and it shows what many including myself say Cuccioli is a beter JEKYLL and WARLOW is a better HYDE. This guy painstakingly edited the two guys doing the confrontation scene and shows images of who is singing in case you dont know the difference lol

  • I prefer Cucciolli. Warlow is great no doubt but Robert has the edge on this role. What one lacks the other has so together they make the perfect Jekyll/Hyde. Vocally neither of them are a Crawford or Wilkinson though, not even in the same league.

As for the EDIZ version it was decent but I hate to hear someone strain on top notes. If it's not within your range (Fantasia) then omit it from your repertoire.

  • Warlow is definitely better than both Crawford and Wilkinson. The man is a singing machine.

  • Please check my performance folks ....

Hope you will like it and comment mine please...

TYPE ediz this is the moment and observe.

  • Cuccioli is the best. Beautiful voice, beautiful man !!

  • PLEASE CHECK THE BEST VERSİON OF THE SONG

TYPE ....... this is the moment ediz

  • Had a friend do this song back in high school as a solo

    Good stuff

  • Much better than Warlow. I really love Bob Cucc!

  • Great, but Warlow is better

  • warlow is not better, warlow is god, the best singer of all times and I swear I am not that kind of people that does like to worship.

  • my god, please dont make jokes

  • I don't know why american singers insist on singing everything in an american accent - this musical is based in London!!

  • Get real - the man who wrote the music from the play Frank Wildhorn- is American- so is his wife Linda EDER- who played the original Lucy. The story may take place in London- but it isn't about London- it's about a man's fight with the good and evil that both live in him...it doesn't matter "where" it takes place. Just enjoy the music for how beautiful it is and listen to the story. And for the record- most people lose much of their accent when they sing.

  • Ilovegreatsingers - I second everything you just said. Amen!

  • The day I see a performance of Phantom of the Opera or Les Miserables with the entire cast singing in French accents, I will personally track down Cameron Mackintosh and demand a refund. If you think that performers should sing in accents, please take a look at Michael Crawford's performance in Dance of the Vampires.

  • MitchConnor83 - I also second everything you just said. Exactly. Haha I'd also ask for a refund!

  • I agree..it's hard to sing with an accent...and it will sound really weird

  • Don't even mention DotV! What a disgrace, the original show was so much better. I don't understand how a "von Krolock" equals an Italian accent. I'd rather not hear Western and Central European accents enunciated in English-speaking musicals.

  • Truly amazing. Second only to Anthony Warlow himself.

  • um wow... sorry that was not a good performance at all though.
