@12321Walrus They feel so contrived to me. While the truth of a story doesn't make it more or less funny, Merchant makes the stories far too complex and long, in order to fit in extra amusing points. Also, he has a bad habit of explaining why these situations are funny. It really grinds me when he'll even say, "ironically ...". At times, Gervais intervenes to catch Merchant when his stories get too long, without a pay-off, but occasionally Merchant grinds on regardless.

Now Im sure if you are the bookish type and met him in a library or bookstore and had a chat, you might just get on. I am sure mentally and intellectually he is your type, he is a witty, thoughtful guy, but If you had never talked to or had seen him, and he wasn't famous, would u say yes to a dance?

@painxtreme I am not having a go at Steve. Quite the contrary. Good, intellectual and creative people like him, who are vastly more interesting than vain, self absorbed pretty boys or gym rats get passed by constantly for the vain, crass and loud bad boys that women, to their detriment seem to flock to. I know that when I was in my 20s, intellectual chat didn't get too far with most ladies, unless you were at University, or in a job with very educated people.
