  • was this also the first time Madeleine McCann when missing?

  • Labour lose in all nations, what next?

  • @cameranzo1 not quite here in Australia, Labor under Gillard has formed a minority government

  • At the current rate the SNP are heading for defeat at next years election. They only had one more seat than Labour in the Scottish Parliament and let's be honest, Labour in 2007 were in one big mess and then Blair left and then a Brown bounce occurred, but then it all went tits up after he failed to declare an election. If Brown had been in power during the Scottish Parliament elections and enjoyed the approval ratings of his first few months in power then the SNP wouldn't have won. It's simple.

  • @Rascasseman

What a pile of wet dream Labour politics ,

" if only this " and " if only that " You need a reality check mate ,

Labour are going DOWN not UP and that is a fact !

In the last 10 years the SNP have got stronger and stronger

    going from strength to strength

more so than at any time in the party's history and there on the rise .

Simply put; Labour have had there day .

  • erm what?! What is this Braveheart shite you spout on about? The Labour party after all are the party which has served Scotland best. Labour have a 15% lead over the SNP in opinion polls in Scotland currently. 15! That is a massive drop from 2007. The SNP are on course to only increase their seats in Westminster by a seat or two. That is piss poor and especially from 2007. Suggests to me they are on the decline. And no surprise the SNP have betrayed and lied to this great nation

  • @Rascasseman

Oh the Braveheart card , how original .

You do know that 2007 was a holyrood election ,

in case you haven't noticed this is a Westminster election .

You say it's " piss poor " from the SNP but you support labour ?

The latest poll indicates that the SNP will be the only major party in

Scotland to actually gain seats , so if the SNP gain seats and it's " piss poor "

and labour lose seats or stay the same what does that make labour ?

" Bang Bang I've shot you down , Bang Bang !

  • @Rascasseman

" the SNP have betrayed and lied to this great nation "

Back that up Mr Labour supporter , oh the irony .

  • I don't think you know what you're talking about (and I'm in Toronto). Scotland has a long history of independence (unlike Quebec), and could be an independent member of the EU along with many other small countries. They have no language grievances like the PQ. And it's for the Scottish voters, not you, to determine their "right choice." (Incidentally, the SNP just won the country's Euro elections as well.)

  • The SNP has been in power in the Scottish Parliament for over 2 years, so this was in essence a mid-term report card for them--and they won by almost 9%. Considering the Euro win and recent polls giving them a 13% lead over Labour for the Scottish Parliament and 3% over Labour for Westminster, I'd call that solidifying their position as the #1 party in Scotland--not a protest vote.

  • David Cameron will win the next Westminster election EASILY, but he will have at most 4 Scottish MPs out of 59. And he will preside over the UK's nuclear weapons, 100% of which are in Scottish waters--and are not wanted there. Meanwhile the benefits of the Union included Scotland having 5 Euro MPs to the SMALLER Rep. of Ireland's 13. You're right that the Union was great for Scotland for centuries, but more and more agree that's no longer the case...

  • OK, they will hold Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale & Tweeddale (that's one constituency) and could take Edinburgh SW, East Renfrewshire and Dumfries & Galloway. I don't see any others. They'll target Perth & North Perthshire but I don't see the SNP falling back there. They've only got the one seat right now, bear in mind. Between 1997 and now they've had either zero or one MP in Scotland...

  • @onwisconsin4214 @onwisconsin4214 I agree with you completely that the union was good in the past but not anymore. I would like to expand on why it was good in the past. It was good in that it finally gave Scotland access to much trade, and what did it do with it? It became one of the greatest and wealthiest intellectual and industrial hubs in the world. The Scottish enlightenment and the industrial revolution.

  • No, we are realists who are aware of the damage the london westminster government has done to our country.

  • It's now two years since that historic victory for the SNP!

  • It sounds so weird, referring to her as "a 3-year-old girl from Leicester"...so strange. Hope she's found soon.

  • what's the difference between the english council elections and the local elections that you guys voted on only a few months ago

  • There is no difference really. Its just that in some regions they are referred to as "local" and in others as "council" elections. It all depends on the type of council (county, metropolitan, borough etc). The council elections are held every year near enough (each "ward" generally has three councillors representing it and the seats are usually contested in a three year cycle) the Parliamentary elections are every 4-5 years.

  • was it really that long ago wen maddie went missing?

  • and does it matter?

  • Love it.
