@78merlot Most people today identify the song with Ray Charles but it was Joe Williams who made it famous back in the 50s when he was with Count Basie. My guess is it was done originally by Jesse Stone, Alias Charles "Chuck" Calhoun. Stone wrote the song in the 40s but if he was the first to record it, it would probably have been in 1949 or a bit after. It's a great song and if I had time, I would try to hunt down alternate versions.
