When photography was invented society believed painting was a dead medium. there was just no way that they could compete with how real a photo looks, so what did painters do? They focused on the qualities that photography couldn't ever capture. This lead to the invention of abstraction, surrealism, expressionism, ect, 2d animation can make a comeback if it shows off the qualities CG doesn't have and gets inventive and creative with them.
I think 2D is much more enjoyable because if you can draw it, you can animate it. To me, the whole point of animation is to escape reality... So why make a bunch of real looking 3D films? I've never laughed as hard at a 3D as I have at 2D cartoons that were made back in the day. Not even close. I don't care if people think that 2D is dead. I'm going to be a 2D animator whether they like it or not.
2d animation is not dead! look at japan...or india, hell even canada. 2d is only dead in the US and its a cryin shame. i want to go to a traditional animation college but i think that i'll move to 3d only because it'll be easier to get a job.
I love the experience the cartoon movement drawing how they acting and the style is more excellent i love the 2D animation cause it comes to life the drawing of animal tales and great animals and cute animals, i love the tecniques painting of the artist background and it awsome.. It comes from my heart and im only 13 years old

Well The Princess and The Frog has made a total of 270 Million World Wide, pretty good seeing as it was up against AVATAR, Sherlock Holmes, Alvin and The Chimpmunks 2 and all. It made its money back and then some and gained 3 Oscar Nominations!
lol yes it is i was just saying it is here a little bit and it was just a topic to cover because i didnt know that was going on but the two girls in this video are my best friends and they are studying animation and their teachers tell them this so yeah...
No, it hasn't. It's already made $150 million worldwide. It's not Avatar money, but for a hand-drawn animated film, that's still pretty impressive for this decade.
Is there any way to professionally contact the two guest speakers in this video (Kendall Robinson and/or Janelle Lee)? I'm an aspiring animator myself, and advice of various sorts would be helpful and very much appreciated...
