its allways been a internal combustion engine it was used as a farm engine

This engine is a Bessemer kit on a Hart and Taft steam engine bed plate. they also added a extra ring on the flywheel.

Is it me or is it running backwards compared to many other stationary engines?

This is a 2 cycle engine and can run either direction.
