  • George was already a really good guitarist.

  • kool song

  • Even way back then, you could tell the Beatles had it. It is just simply "right" !!

  • u.u pte is very ugly >.<

  • @Corvet123124 Thing is, that ain't Pete. It's Ken Brown. ;)

  • I really love this (: I love The Beatles, I really do and it was so great hearing John sing (although I think he sounds the same always <3 (: ) and hear Paul backing up vocals and also George playing his guitar so great even when he was young, they all had such great talent and that is why today we know them all as John, Paul, George and Ringo of The Beatles. Long Live The Beatles, Love The Beatles forever**.

  • i know the first recorded song of Beatles is "Inspite of all the danger" watch "Nowhere Boy" when juliane died. her husband gave john ticket, i dont know exactly if that is a ticket but that is the way to record a song in recording studio in Kensington in liverpool.

also watch this video listen what paul said. ^^

  • ellos eran los" futuros genios de la musica". faltando solo ringo.

  • I'm 60 Years old, I was brought up in the 60s listening to The Beatles, The Kinks, The Troggs, Spencer Davies Group, The Beach Boys, Sandie Shaw, The Searchers, Gerry And the Pacemakers,The List Goes on And on .... Stop Arguing!!!! Enjoy Your MUSIC!!!!

  • so thats where buddy holly nicked it from

  • @bulwine - Buddy Holly didn't "nick" this song from anybody! He WROTE the damn thing! Buddy Holly was like John, Paul, and George all rolled into one. I read an interview with Holly's brother some years ago where he said that if Buddy hadn't died, The Beatles would never have taken the world by storm. I always thought the same thing. If Buddy Holly had lived and kept on making music as prolifically as he did, there would have been no need for The Beatles - or anyone else. RIP Buddy.

  • Amazing - Lennon's earliest recorded voice. Absolutely momentous. Thank you Buddy.

  • Listen to this, then listen to Tomorrow Never Knows. Oh, how much they've grown into the greatest group of all time.

  • Cool name bro.

  • That'll be the the day...The Beatles started.

  • wow whos who lol

  • @ratm50101 (left to right)- George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney.

  • I like listening to this then to A Day In The Life.

  • I think*

  • whos tht with the glasses on the right

  • @truckermad2k9

I am not sure it's Buddy Holly wearing his legendary glasses lol :)

  • John's singing Buddy Holly!!

  • Who's the dork with the glasses?

  • @majorporpoise Stuart Sutcliffe? Buddy Holly? Lol!

  • I am from the future & prefer the music that came before the zombie revolution. Most people where I am at don't, but that's probably because they're zombies.

  • I listen to rap only at parties, i don`t really prefer it. Beatles rule!

  • i won't share the videos because of the name, and there's another one that's even worse contributing Beatles videos. I can't share their videos either, because where I'd like to share them, they'd freak out if they saw the name. and I prefer not to! Just a lack of vocabulary or imagination I guess. Oh well, must be too young to comprehend what they're doing. I do appreciate the videos though.

  • You have a vile, filthy and VULGAR user name, absolutely VULGAR!!!

  • @tommyboy6494 Yeah, but it makes him look " COOL " ?

  • @tommyboy6494 but we all love it :)

  • i reckon that soon people will go back to records and so old hits by the beatles, rolling stones and led zepplin will be back in the charts!

  • It's all about that skiffle thing, the world needs a new music revolution, proper grass roots style.

  • What guitars are they holding in the picture?

  • @quique420 wooden ones

  • These guys sound good,, What happend to them,,

  • @stopdong22 Two of them died like 30 years ago...

  • @CODallnightlong John Lennon died 31 years ago. George Harrison died 10 years ago.

  • @NicoCopenhagen I'm proud you googled that. I was just trying to make a point go back to your chew.

  • @CODallnightlong That is certainly not the kind of information I need to Google ;-) I´m sorry if I offended you, but I just felt, that it sounded so indifferent to say, that "two of them died like 30 years ago"... But maybe you were joking? And maybe so was stopdong22?!? I hope so :-)

  • Damn...they are so young here it's kinda weird. Yet only 5 or 6 years later they took Britain and later the world by storm!

  • Who would have ever guessed from this raw cover that they would ever get somewhere?

  • john looks like a 5 years old kid

  • George is a baby! <3 aaaaawwwwww

  • John's voice! <3

  • I thought "In Spite of All the Danger" was the first Quarrymen song.

  • @TheMacciz that one one of the lasts

  • @TheMacciz "in spite of all the danger" was recorded immediately, within minutes after this buddy holly cover.

it wasnt the original plan however, and being a bit rushed by the grumpy old guy running the machine, paul took charge and here we are. the full story is in the anthology.

  • I roughy myself how to play when I was 10 I'm now turning 14 on the 29th

  • I'm sick of all these companies, like banks or brokerage houses, who tell me, You don't have to call us [for info or a transaction], you can go on the Internet...Gee, what an insight. Like talking to humans to do business is becoming outmoded. How annoying when they suggest this.

  • John, Paul and George LOVED Buddy Holly ... and this being their very first recording is a clear tribute to "The Day The Music Died" ... the late great BUDDY HOLLY!!!

  • This is karaoke..its the original crickets backing music...they must have had at least two track tapes to remove Hollys vocals...

  • @ballbag53 Wrong

  • Mumar had the women stoned, but it doesn't sound like it. Later, 4-track appeared, but much Beatles recordings were somewhat live, at least for rhythm, with vocals over-dubbed, and perhaps some marital betrayal.

  • It's amazing how a "home recording" with but one microphone is so good and indeed, that's the way they used to record in "the old days."

About the only music that is still recorded this way is classical music, particularly "the Symphony;" most often they just use three microphones to record 70-80 musicians.

  • Their best song =]

  • The best ever! Feeling blue that Youngsters don't agree too much. It was hand - made music with a good feeling for strange chords. Man`y a bands did support. Of course they did develope. They've done a very good job. And don't argue about want they have done right or wrong. Better ask Ringo: The one who was permantely on the right site.

  • @wischkaun are you dumb?

  • They're gonna be Yuge!

  • Buddy Holly even covered this song!.

  • This is better than the original.

  • Err. I gota learn to read better.

  • Sorry guys but a recording by Frenchman Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville of a woman singing 'Au Clair De La Lune' is believed to be the first recorded song. The recording dates back to April 9, 1860 making it the world's first known recorded song.

  • @Hellavaride Did you eat paint chips as a kd??? THIS IS THE FIRST BEATES.....Are you OK?

  • @friendinpenn there's a mental illness associated with having no sense of humor whatsoever. I don't remember what it's called.

  • @Hellavaride Esta fue grabada en 1957 , pero tampoco es la primera , la primera es un conjunto de canciones grabadas en la Iglesia St . Paul

  • @Hellavaride You don't have to apologise to us man, we're just satisfied to hear the first song The Quarrymen recorded, I can live without hearing the first song ever recorded

  • nice account name...

  • and from where did you get this info?

  • Wow George was soo young. I mean they all were but God damn, 15?!? My dad was born the year this was recorded.

  • They loved Buddy Holly.

  • Here I see 4 Elvis.

  • i love that john's accent shows up when he says 'that'll' he sounds so posh

  • The song has very bad sound

  • @rockyjnr10 this song was made like 60 years ago

  • bassist

  • my bad...the other guitar player died. pete best was the original drummer

  • hey roadienick, the original drummer died of a brain hegmerage...sorry, i dont know how to say that. and the original bassist quit. paul took over the bass and they just picked up ringo. george joined before the drummer died and the bassist quit.

  • Wait... is this loveme do ?????

  • @dirtwhat This isn't loveme do, it's a song called "That'll be the Day". I believe John Lennon was attempting to sing it similar to one of the musicians of the time that inspired him to get into Rock n' Roll, Buddy Holly. Though I am not sure who oirginally wrote the song, I believe Buddy Holly was the most famous person to sing it.

  • @roadienicknamedror

I'm not sure if this is correct but the guy with the Guinness is named Dennis, and the photo was taken by Paul's brother Mike in 1957. George is 14 here and the house that they're in is 147 Dinas Lane in Liverpool.

  • @kennedynixon That´s really impressive man! Thanks for sharing... it´s amazing :)

  • @sourhead002 the drummer ringo starr replaced was pete best but pete best never died of a brain tumer the person who died from a brain tumer is stuart sutcliffe the bass player

  • These guys are gonna be big.

  • @Bluey26255CP I dunno, they just don't have enough cowbell, if ya know what I mean.

  • @Bluey26255CP Actually, I love the Beatles. I watched their first American performance on Ed Sullivan in 1963, and have been a devout fan ever since. I'm 56 now, and I sincerely doubt that music will ever see such a sea change as it did with the Beatles (f--k rap!).

My son, who's now 38, and my daughter, 36, love the Beatles. They sing them, they play them, and admire them. My 27 y/o likes rap, which just goes to show you that the older the seed gets, the wore the fruit.

  • @Dogheadj don't worry i'm 15 and the only music i listen to is pretty much The Beatles. Jimi Hendrix, Eric clapton, Buffalo Springfield, Chuck Berry, Howlin' Wolf, Greatful dead, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Greig, Rochmaninaff, Tchaikovsky, and a bunch of '60's and back stuff as well, but mostly i listen to The Beatles. Rap, heavy metal, screamo, and whatever else crapp today's youth listens to, is just like what i said, it's crapp.

  • @CaptinMcAwsome Thank you, my friend, for appreciating and carrying on, the great music of an epic age. You can spread yourself out and do your own variations and renditions and leads amongst these inventors of blues/rock , but it always comes back to the blues. Ask Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Johnny Winter and, for more recent examples, John "Douchebag" Mayer, Kenny Wayne Shephard, or any other "new" guitarist. It isn't new. It's just a different take and feeling.

  • @CaptinMcAwsome Aren't you just so darn special, here have a cookie for being so damn unique.

  • @CaptinMcAwsome if you dont like heavy metal, i take it you dont like Helter Skelter then?

  • @filmaker93 tbh i wouldnt class helter skelter as heavy metal. its more hard rock than anything else

  • @CaptinMcAwsome yet you can't spell Grateful Dead right...

  • @CaptinMcAwsome you should really open your eyes to different forms of music, theirs a ton of good stuff around today

  • @CaptinMcAwsome Dude me too but check out Chopin too

  • @CaptinMcAwsome Cool Story, Bro.

  • @CaptinMcAwsome -- nice to see there's some hope for the younger folks. stick to your principles son, don't let ANYONE tell you what to do, or what to be, or what to listen to.

  • @CaptinMcAwsome if u have a probalrm with heavy metal ur a fuckin piece of shit. the beatles are my favorite band. along with the doors, jimi, buddy, cream, clapton, the who, stones, grateful dead etc., but cant say metallica, megadeth, judas priest, iron maiden, pantera, and motorhead suck. if u do, ur a fag.

and dont try to get attention by saying ur 15 and listen to all of that music. im 15 too,and probably know more about music than u asshole. so fuck off. douchecock.

  • @Bluey26255CP REALLY?

  • @Essbee2212 yup :)

  • Buddy Holly was alive when this was recorded.

  • That lead guitar is pretty decent and true to the Buddy Holly recording....

  • How did they teach themselves to play guitar in 1950's Liverpool? There was no internet back then, soooo did they read books or something?

  • @ratonmickey83 They actually couldnt read music, they just played what sounded right..

  • @BFBCFTW So how did they teach themselves to play that solo? I mean that's pretty damn impressive if you can't read music. And I heard they learned chords from other people.

  • Comment removed

  • @ratonmickey83 I learned to play drums in the '60's (without lessons), and guitar in the'70's (also without lessons), and both before the internet. It took a lot of listening, playing along with the records (yes, I mean vinyl records), and many, many hours of practice. It's called "playing by ear". I still play to this day (I'm 56), and don't know how to read music but, having become familiar with the guitar, can pretty much play along with a song after hearing it once.

  • Comment removed

  • @Dogheadj Wow. That's actually pretty impressive to learn by ear. I play guitar too. But I looked on the internet instead of playing by ear. Paul McCartney said it took them "Ages to learn the intro to that'll be the day. Until john finally found it." I think they had to use an F Capo or something. Maybe I should try to learn by ear sometime.

  • @ratonmickey83 Believe me, you get to know the guitar much more intimately when you play by ear rather than tabs/lessons. Playing by ear, trying to match the original guitarist note for note, with their peculiar vibrato/pinch harmonics, etc., give you much more feeling for the song (and guitar) than tabs do. Tabs lead you to a more mechanical, technical place, where you're no longer "feeling" the music, but merely playing it. I'm not disparaging it; tabs have their place. But my choice is by ear

  • @ratonmickey83 Now can you think of a simpler chord progression than "That'll Be The Day"? They had to f--k around a bit, find out what's what on the guitar, give it many listens, still can't find it, try again, and so on.

Would they have been The Beatles had they not had to go through this trial and error stage?

Listen to "The One After 909" in 1963, and the same song recorded in 1969. It's so evident to me, knowing that the Beatles didn't read music, that their method worked. Better.

  • @Dogheadj Well, I didn't think of the F Capo. John did. And by the way, I deleted that other comment because I forgot to add the F Capo thing. And I'm gonna try to find the 1963 "One After 909" and hear what it sounds like.

  • @ratonmickey83 I'm not criticizing, nor anything like it. I don't know what comment you're referring to, and really don't care. I deleted one as well because I misspelled a word. I even had to look up "misspelled" to make sure it was right. The main thing is, have fun, mate. Let's not get caught up in technicalities.

And please do look up some of the bands older stuff. Not only the Beatles, but the whole evolution of rock. Beatles were main part of it, but there were others.

  • @Dogheadj Thanks!

  • @Dogheadj Why say "f--k" instead of fuck when the guy who posted the video doesn't call himself "f--cktown" but calls himself "fucktown."

  • @ratonmickey83 Yeah, amazing isn't it. Learning to play guitar without the internet,, What has become of today's youth.

  • this aint the first song tho john acctually quoted that he done beep bop a lula live at woolten church fate where he first met paul but yeah this is the first one they recorded

  • @kenco124 its the first recording,smart one.

  • @kenco124 first recording dude

  • I'm fairly sure this wouldve been pre gorge even , back when they had stuart sutcliffe

  • @13Musicmachine Nope George joined the group a few months earlier actually.

  • They also recorded " In spite of all the danger" that same session. I think it was written by all three future Beatles. John , Paul and George.

  • Ha this isn't even there Song

  • @lifeonmars90 So? by the way, it's "their", not "there"...

  • @joriszsz So? I didn't say there was anything wrong with it cause I love buddy Holly . Oh am sorry I can't speak as good as you

  • @lifeonmars90 It's okay, I thought you were like "Ha! Couldn't they even have writen the first song they recorded"... And, I don't speak so good english either...

  • @joriszsz Ha nah I love the Beatles in fact just got a huge poster of them today ;) oh I thought you were making fun o me :P

  • This is a cover of Buddy Holly

  • genial

  • I can smell the talent !

  • Wow. These guys are pretty good. I'm sure they'll go far... ;)

  • @MileygirlJ12 Copy and paste has failed here.

  • @TheChocobread um... what?

  • @MileygirlJ12 sorry i replied to the wrong comment!but tim60s321 said that in the top comment...but i still replied to the wrong comment!!im so sorry =(

  • @TheChocobread oh, okay..

  • @MileygirlJ12 im extremely sorry =(

  • Is that Pob (second left)?

  • What would Simon Cowell have said about this?

  • @thaler67 Well, back then, when the Beatles were first starting, several critics have said that they were awful and would not get anywhere... boy, were they wrong! :)

I wonder what those critics are thinking now... lol

  • This is a great vid!

  • That is not the first Quarrymen song.

  • @ro3946 then what is?

  • @sgtpepper6379 In spite of all the danger.

  • @ro3946 In spite of all the danger was the first song which they wrote themselves that was recorded, but this is the first actual song they recorded.

  • @NEONqlasses Okey.. I was confused because in a Paul McCartney concert in Spain he play it, and said it was the first song they recorded ever.

  • @ro3946 Well I could be wrong. :')

  • @NEONqlasses (: I don't now.

  • can't you just picture the Quarrymen recording that'll be the day? it just gives me chills.

  • Anyone else jealous of the guy on the right?

  • Who are they using for a drummer?

  • Even back then as rudimentary as this recording is you can still hear how tight this band was

  • I have always been so impressed that the embryonic Beatles had the awesome taste to record a Buddy Holly tune, during his lifetime! This is the template of Brit pop, historic and cool. Buddy Holly, John Lennon, George Harrison: Three very cool cats. Cheers

  • Drummerkid is right in spite of all the danger is the first recording just watch this video of paul playing the song in spite of all the danger and right before he sings he says first recording... ill do more research on it but this may be the first recording (the one being played in the video)

  • They'll never catch on in a million years - the only future they have is working at Speke airport (later called John Lennon International whoever he was)!

  • the recording sounds realy good and ofcourse the song 2

  • It's HISTORY !!!!!

  • Good ol Buddy Holly.

  • if this really was recorded 12 july 1958, woudnt it be only 3 days before julia lennon's death?

  • and They were fucking great already!

  • @Drummerkid Yes, This is. In Spite Of All The Danger was recorded about 3 weeks after this one.... Don't correct if you need to be corrected

  • This isn't their first song recorded. It's actually "In Spite of all the Danger"

  • To ratonmicky, I've found that on the internet in a few places, u just have to look...

  • How do you know this is the first song the beatles ever recorded?

  • they sound like an un-cut rock ready to be shaped

  • THAT'S DENNIS ON THE RIGHT HOLDING A PINT, i KNOW, i HAVE THE ORIGINAL FOTO

  • @sizzlecc

you dont have the original picture, you cant even spell photo.

  • "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves & i hoped we passed the audition"

  • this was NOT the first song they recorded!!!!!!!!

Their first song recorded was called In Spite Of All The Danger

  • wasn't '' in spite of all the danger the first? ''

  • I love how the crackling of the old vinyl almost provides the percussion that wasn't actually there in the recording. I've always thought this was a pretty admirable first recording.

  • is john wearing blush? lol great video

  • im pretty sure they recorded "In Spite Of All The Danger" before this.

  • I wonder what's become of the guy standing at the right holding his Guinness. And what did he think of The Not Yet Beatles back then?

  • @RoadienicknamedRor

Looks like Al Franken from SNL.... (now Senator from Minnesota)

  • @RoadienicknamedRor Yeah, there was ten of them before 1. John Lennon 2. Paul McCartney 3. George Harrison 4. Eric Griffthns 5. Colin Hanton 6. Rod Davis 7. Pete Best 8. Stuart Sutcliffe 9. Len Gary 10. Pete Shotton Ringo wasn't there yet, he only joined when it was The Beatles
  • @RoadienicknamedRor That's An Interesting Thought, Little Did He Know He Was Witnessing A Global Sensation In The Making

  • @RoadienicknamedRor probly, 1 more beer and maybe you'll sound better.. * 10 years later he tells the story of when he met the Beatles before they were the Beatles.*

  • @RoadienicknamedRor He's obviously thinking "they can't play or sing, but the one on the right is cute!"
