  • Put some nice pedals In and it's awesome!

  • amen to that dragonboy.

  • When using the hands of a clock reference to communicate knob position how is it possible to dial in "1:30 ish" with just one volume knob? on a clock it requires two hands to point to 1:30. am i missing something here?

  • @IHaveSynthed 1:30 would be between 1 and 2 on a clock...

  • @2010LesPaulStudio Ahhh ok got it thx :)

  • @IHaveSynthed yeah I tihnk you're missing it. I'll tell you how to find it. Get an old analog clock and sit down with it. set it to 1:00 and watch it over the course of an hour, every minute marking, with a sharpie, its position of the hour hand.

  • The beginning of this clip is sheer comedy.

  • PKHHHH PKHH PKHHHH

  • love this amp, its so cute and bluesy. will get one after buying an engl gigmaster

  • Press 6 and 8 a lot of times xD

  • What's your strap?

  • 0:23 Awesome xD

  • This is great!

I love how you're Short-scale but have a Strat as the logo, unless that is you're referring to the shorter Strats lol

  • nice editing, funny review man

  • 0:22 rockstar fail ;) good review though

  • Would this be loud enough to have band pract with?

  • @rssnowblind0 it depends on how loud your drummer is

  • @rssnowblind0 Dude, get a vox vt100. Spend the extra money, you'll love the amp.

  • Very, very nice demo....

  • 3:40 ... "feels so good". sounds creepy.. lol

  • This guy has a vagina

  • @InterspeciesErotica7

two vaginas actually, your mom's and your dad's.

  • Hey one question, since this guitar don't have an equalizer, if i buy this amp, do i need to buy an eq. pedal?

  • @RigorMortis203 not really, i use mine without Eq just fine.

you mean to say your guitar has no tone control?

'cause that's seriously all you need.

    volume and tone

    no pedals

    no fuss.

    ok maybe a wah...

  • please play something other than knocking on heavens door

  • @tommynightmaresmith "All I can do is write about it" by lynyrd skynyrd....while they are similar chord progressions, there is a noticable difference and this is clearly the beginning of the skynyrd song

  • fuck faty!!!

  • great...funny man.)

  • the term "GCD"has never been more evident than in this video

  • can you turn this up loud and remain a clean setting? i just want to have it clean so i dont get extra distortion when i use a pedal for dist.

  • For one, you need to speak up. My computer doesnt go loud enough to be able to hear to. secondly, play something other than chords so that people who properly riff can hear what its like for that sort of thing. Thirdly, stop fannying around waving your head about as if your jimmy page would you.

  • its a great little amp!

  • 3:54 is the same intro almost all amp and guitar reviews start with, along with a person who is high and cant play

  • he said made in mexico but its clearly a squier

  • Andy Milonakis?

  • haha yahhhhh

  • Comment removed

  • Hey im thinkin of purchasing this head with the matching epi junior cab... does this amp have enough volume and can it handle say metal zone pedal ? please reply :)

  • yes but u should go for a epiphone valve senior head way much better

  • it can handle any pedal. Metal zone pedal sucks though.

  • yes it can

  • I think this amp is decently loud. I play it through a single 12" celestion and have to play it about 8oclock or less in my apartment when plugged direct in.

  • i didnt know this thing had any crunch to it at all. wow im bout to buy it anyways

  • I didn't know Andy Milonakis played guitar.

  • this thing is only 5 watts right?

so is it a big deal using an instrument cable in stead of a speaker cable to connect the head to the cab?

  • you should never use a instrumen cable to connect a head to a speaker!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • a speaker cable dude

  • @dragonboy2992 What should you use? I am new to the whole amp head thing... sorry.

  • @dragonboy2992 he didnt even show u behind the amp so how would u knw what hes using behind it

  • @dragonboy2992 Warum?

  • @dragonboy2992 why, and what should you use?

  • @ZakkHendrix666

    @daman8852

    @MONTA01

    A speaker cable.

Instrument cables are shielded, meaning that the conductor runs through the middle of the cable, and the ground is a mesh that wraps around the insulated conductor.

Speaker cables aren't shielded, which means basically two wires run the length of the cable. Speaker cables usually use a thicker gauge of wire than instrument cables. Using an Instrument Cable as a speaker cable can fry the Cabinet of a Stack.

  • @dragonboy2992 don,t You mean guitar to amplifier?

  • @dragonboy2992 why bro I dont know which cable i am using.

  • Comment removed

  • @PFLOYDB Instrument cables are shielded, so there's a conductor running through the middle, and the ground is mesh around the conductor. Speaker cables aren't shielded, so there's 2 wires running the length of the cable. Speaker cables are thicker wire. Using an instrument cable is gonna fry your cab

  • @dragonboy2992 it's just a cable. stfu. what else would he use 0.o?

  • thx

  • I have one thing to say. go to a music store and try one for yourself! I just picked one up today and was surprised at how good it sounds through a couple vintage 30's. I play through a Marshall DSL 401 or a Mesa Stiletto Deuce. I must say for what they are, the valve jr really does sound nice in person.

  • All experienced guitarists - Would this be any good for playing in a medium sized hall (at my school) with a Marshall 4x12 1960A speaker cabinet?

  • Probably be just fine, but because it distorts as you turn it up, you might wanna be careful if you intend to use it clean.

  • Depends on how you use it. because it has not master volume it gets very dirty at high volumes. and you can't get it to break up at low volumes. If you are going o mic the cab and run pedals for overdrive it will do fine or you could run it loud and use your volume knob to get cleans but I don't like doing that because it's not really easy to change your volume on the fly.

  • wow it does sounds really bad, must be a problem with the mic or something cause i got one of them and it doesn't sound that bad when the volume is raised.

  • it sounds great!

  • holy shit its andy milanokis. he should speak louder too

  • Its kinda limted i mean 1 volume control sure it sounds good but to get an overdriven sound you have to crank it up and you cant do that in a small bedroom for practice.

  • Pedals, man.

  • i was going to buy this amp, but this video is so bad i am going to have to forget about it

  • Yeah me to - now i will buy a Laney or something.

  • I would like to wonder how you voice is disappeared. You make pleasant faces to. Is that inspiration of Valve Jr.? I like you rock. Keep on jam, bro.

  • I've got a 90W 4x10 powered cab... Been using a 1w preamp head for bass through it. Was wondering if I could use this epi valve jr.head as a sort of preamp into the cab for guitar?

  • thumbs down on this shitty vid...

  • would this be a good amp for a live show?

im thinking about buying it. also, why does it get more distorted when you turn it up?

  • Tube amps tends to have that kind of nice overdriven sound when you turn the volume up.

  • it would be a good amp for a small/medium size venue but only if your playing 100% distorted because low wattage tube amps tend to break up at relatively low levels. it gets more distorted due to tube saturation.. its basically REAL overdrive or distortion or w/e u want to call it

  • Because that's how tube amps work. That's where overdrive pedals came from, to replicate the sound of a cranked tube amp.

And if you mic it, it would work live.

  • what your really going to want to use this amp for is recording. but it could work for live shows.

  • I wish I could here the words coming out of your mouth it might explaine why your playing sounds the way it does.

  • The mutes on the intro are a bit delayed but all good :)

  • Good demo mate.

  • I'm really consitering buying this Amp. but I got a couple of questions. #1: If I wanted to get a sound like Jimmy Page, would I have to turn the volume all the way up?

#2. Is this a good Amp to have if you are living in a small place? (like an apartment)

If someone could help me out, I would really appreciate it.

  • definetly is if you have small place.

before you can get a good sound out of a tube amp you have to turn it up a lot to get the tubes hot. because it's so small you can get a good sound out of it at relativley low volumes that you couldn't do with say a marshall 4x12 stack because it would be so LOUD.

  • Thanks a lot. ^_^

  • You should also be aware that the amp will probably produce fairly thin tones (or boxy tones) due to the size of the cabinet (assuming u buy the one with built in cabinet). If you pick up this head and drive it into at least one 12 inch speaker I think you could get some pretty nice sound. Maybe replace the tubes to get a smoother distortion that's less farty on the high volumes.

  • Hey man, that's really weird, I was looking at buying this amp to sound like Jimmy Page too, strange...

  • Is it possible to use it without a cabinet?

  • Lmfao....no

  • yea, but you need to buy the epiphone valve junior combo, you can also plug in two external cabs that is if you want but it has an integrated speaker already in it

  • Did you use any pedals in this demo?

  • would the valve junior stack with a decent distortion pedal do metallica?

i need to know .if it does i will buy it in half a year.

  • nooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • na i think it will bought the tube king from ibanez that's a great pedal i think it will

  • well, with a pedal it might.

but the thing is only like 5 watts. and..the more volume it has, the more distorted the tone gets and a distortion pedal on top of a distorted channel doesn't sound that good..but..you're going for metallica tone..so it might work

  • yes it will do i might try it in the store with my own distortion pedal its a sort of tube preamps orseomething like that maybe you know the tube king tk999ht from ibanez?

    but thanks for the reaction

  • yea, its a good pedal.

but...the whole reason for getting a halfstack is for the volume..

    my heads 160 watts..this ones 5...

    might want to consider that.

Crate has a 33watt all tube for 20$ more.

  • I think i buy this one and later a krank rev jr head or a orange tiny terror.

the krank has 20 watt and the orange 15 switchable to 7

those heas will do on the epi stack and the head i can use for practice and 20 watt tube or 15 is enough for me i do not really gig yet

  • word

  • how do yea mean word?

i do the epi stack first because i don't have money for the krank half stack or an orange stack so i buy the epiphone stack

and use the cab whit one of these heads if i get the money for it.

and than i can use the epi head for blues or practice.

  • ok dude.

i got it..no money..i was there once...i'm still there..but i saved my money until i could by a regular halfstack. i don't gig either, but i use mine for band practice, and its a good tihng to have just incase an out of nowhere gig pops up.

why buy the halfstack if you dont gig and you're planning on buying a better, more exspensive amp? just save your money until you have enough to buy what you really want.

  • yes i know but,

im going to emigrate so i need a new amp and the epiphone is quite good. has some reasonable speakers in it tube's and great sound for blues and classic rock and i use my tube king for distortion thats a total rig for like 350 dollar i dont know the price in dollar but it's affordable and good.

any my problem is i can not cough up 500 dollar for just a head

so i think in my situation it will be a good buy than

  • ok.

obviously your right and i'm wrong

i dont know fucking anything about music or musical gear.

  • keep in mind crate makes horrible amps

  • i agree that most crate amps are bad. but the v33 is all tube and has a pretty usable "tube tone".

  • ok i will test but i like the warm sound of the epi but thanks for the tip.

  • i was stupid five watt may be a lil low i will buy the marshall valvestate 50 watt orso.

it has a tube preamp and i solid state powered and than i throw my ibanez tube king in front thats an other tube preamp so than there are two tubes involved and i will have a good sound for some bucks more but than i dont need to buy an head later if im about to gig.

thanks for the help that you made me realise that i was wrong.

  • i was reading a topic about the avt for a lil more i can buy an used jcm-800 jcm-900 combo with some real tubes.

Because the people were saying if you buy this is good in the beginning but a year later you would sell and buy an amp with some balls

so i think i could just buy a good used jcm 800

  • The jcm has to much balls i think 50-100 wat tubes in an apartment?

i dont think thats a real good idea so i will do the valvestate 50 watt or 100 watt

but i will check it out.

my guitar teacher has a valvestate ill ask if i could use it once

  • in response to your last 3 comments.

marshalls are good, my favorite. i have a solid state i fantasize about having a tube marshall one day.

that might be a little much for an apartment. i wouldn't get anything under 50 watts. i have a 30 watt vox and its not really loud to jam with; band wise.

but yea. marshalls are good. jcm or valvestate.

  • and how bout 15 wat tubes in a laney ?

  • the only 15 watt laney i've ever played through. i didn't like. the clean was good, but when you hooked up a distortion pedal through it. it was wayyyyyy too trebly, no matter the settings on the pedal. i tried several pedals on it, all produced the same trebly bullshit

  • dude, just a warning, Valvestate are shit quality. I had one and it pooched on me in a couple of months. and BTW, 50 watts is way to loud for most real life applications with guitar. stick with 30 watts and below. if you want marshall, check out a Ceriatone JTM clone. other good amps under 50 watts are Egnater Rebel 20s, Vox AC15s or Fender Deluxe reverbs.

  • i will buy a peavey valveking 112 or i might buy the tiny terror head with 2x12 celestoin cab but when i wanted a valvestate i didn't realise the tubes very well.

but still thanks for the warning

  • sadly most of us cant afford those :(

  • Elvis lives!

  • This kid cracks me up so much, I favorited this video.

  • awesome

  • is this good with active pickups

  • no.

no clean tone would be good with active pickups.

unless your planning on playing it full blast 24/7

  • i use high output pickup like the seymour duncan dimebucker and that distorts also

  • that is not an active pickup though.

it means like an emg that uses batteries

  • i know but it has a high gain sort of tone in it same as active's

  • what if you want it loud but you dont want gain

  • Turn down the guitar volume.

  • Then you spend more money on a bigger amp, unfortunately.

  • i solverd my problem anyway

my guitar teachers son moved out and hes sellin a 60w amp and 4x12 cab all for 200$

  • them heads r crap

    no tone control not distortion

    wts goin on man

  • Checkout the Blackheart Little Giant

  • That's a good one, too. Nice tone. I think this amp's more versatile, though, w/ the right EQ & effects plugged in. Has more punch.

  • I can say the same!

I plan on buying the Valve Junior Head/Stack soon

  • you're pretty fat and you make some gay faces while playing beginner stuff out of tune. great demo otherwise.

  • Does it matter?

  • He didn't say he was demoing himself lol.

  • man, is your guitar in tune?

  • Cool man, thanks for the demo.

  • I don't think that Squier is made in Mexico.

  • jtonessimo,

You may be the biggest douche bag I have ever seen. Shows you have no idea about guitar amps. Retard.

  • what pickups r u using??

  • If you know how to use dynamics, the tone and volume knobs on you're guitar and know a variety of picking techniques then the amp is as versatile as you are creative.

  • he's playing the same thing so you can compare the tonal quality you fag. if he plays mcfly on a low setting and dragonforce on the high setting it with hardly be fair.

(he might not be doing that deliberately but it works that way.)

  • gpunkboy must make a ton of money being a pro musician! wow, you sound mature and probably talented as well. playing the same song over for tone comparison jerk!!

  • gpunkboy you're a fucking retard! Get a life!

  • i like to math debate

  • lol

  • you rule!xD

  • im gonna buy it ;D

  • I use a BOSS 10-band eq pedal to brighten up the tone a bit. Otherwise it's a bit dark and won't cut with a band jamming.

I also like the sound of the cabinet which I bought later (they weren't out yet when I bought the head)

FIVE WATTS OF BLOW YOUR HAIR BACK TUBE POWER!

  • ShortScaleGearDemos are the worst reviewers ever In my opinion, of course.

  • die.

  • I will. In about 70 years.

  • agreed rofl

  • that was cool and funny

  • kool... i just got mine! i pick my guitar up from the luthier tomorrow. a Black Beauty epi w/ gibson 490s!!!!!!

  • that was great, the edits killed! nice work, tune the Sqiure/MIM Teledog next time tho

  • THANK YOU for posting a demo of this amp WITHOUT ten thousand pedals in front of it.

  • is this your first amp?

  • No, but it is my first Epiphone Valve Jr.

  • Haha, true story dude!

My goal is to show what the actual product really sounds like.

    Thanks for checking it out!

  • How would you compare this amp with other small valve amps. I have been told that this amp sounds as good as some that cost 5 times as much. Why are epiphone selling them at such a ridiculous price when they should cost more?. These amps and cabs have birch ply boxes - the same as Blackstar and other high end - amps - at this price you would expect particle board or cardboard even.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Interesting amp but I never understood one volume distortion.

  • The louder it is, the more distorted it gets. This is because when the tubes are being pushed hard they distort.

  • you look like you were asleep when playing

  • SOOTHING RIFFZ.

  • hey joe,good video!!

  • your vid rocks! haha you're funny

  • Why'd you put a Squier neck on that bad boy?

  • it's AWESOME.

i bought it from an internet friend and it's really good.

  • As much as i hate seeing your face and the way you move while you play, that much i like the demonstration vid.Except all the garbage demos of that amp this one rocks, especially at the end.

Thanks you convinced me to buy it.

  • Sweet.

The song/riff thing is part of a Mazzy Star song, so I purposely "gay'd it up" a little bit for comedic effect.

Glad the video helped you make a purchasing decision! That's what it's about dawg!

  • that's damn loud my friend :D

  • My Friend, you recomend, buy this item?

    Thanks :)

  • so, will this head only put out 5w of power?

  • wait....u have a strat headstock on a tele?

  • he may have replaced the neck...the Tele Deluxe has something similar. I hate that "deformed foot" headstock of the Tele anyway, I think it's an improvement!

  • yeah tele headstocks look like empty socks.

  • i like the tele's head...
