Capital Centre 1974. You had to have seen him live to understand. Truly larger than life. And the talent onstage with him! TLC, The Stamps, The Memphis Horns. That was just his everyday touring band! Once you saw Elvis--there was no point going to anyone else's concerts. Just knocked the place out.
I was blessed to have seen him live in March of 74. I was 14 at the time, and all I can say is that once you have seen him [ he was my first concert ], there was no point seeing anyone else . They were just a disappointment ! He was so much larger than life.Words cannot describe what it was like to be in the same ' room ' as the King. It was almost a ' divine ' experience ! He was that electrifying !!
God bless you Elvis. I was 7 years old when he was taken. I still remember that day, my Mum introduced me to the King! I am lucky to have visited Graceland and Its a memory I will never forget. Love You Elvis!!
@mixus1000 the king will always live long after were all goin dead and the next generation will be saying he is the best put the junk of today a side and elivs alway rise to the top as the real king of rock with a voice a king
I was 7 when he died and now 34 years later he's still the KING of rock n roll he was so unique in his ways and his voice stood out from many others. In my mind he was the best entertainer/vocal artist in history. To compare others to him is wrong, why well all artists have their own unique thing, M jackson and his dancing and oddness in latter years aint going to compare at all with elvis, why well theya re 2 totally different people in style vocal talent and lovability. Elvis is The main man.
Elvis in case you listen: there are some people who say that michael jackson is a king, forgive them, they are just young. You know, you´re the ONLY KING EVER!!!
@jimhicks36 honstly im a big elvis fan and hes dead if he wanted a privit life he would not started what he did and if i was him id no stop doing that when im making thousands
I watched this tonight again on TV & suddenly burst out sobbing, from nowhere. It was pretty hilarious--a genuine body-shaking sob. I do not, uh, make a habit of doing that, lol. My husband was rightfully laughing & had a "wtf" look on his face. He asked me why. You know, it was simple: I was so overcome by his voice. I'm not a believer (not an atheist, but simply don't know), but his gospel voice could almost make me believe.
@ofthecosmos Just seen you post hun, I do that too, my friend and I sit and watch Elvis dvd`s and cry so unashamedly, we also watch documentary dvd`s listening to people saying how wonderful Elvis was and how he helped them in their hour of need paying bills etc., he was a beautiful person with a wonderful face, voice and a huge kind and gentle heart. I know for sure he is up there with God looking down on us. Loved him for years and will for eternity.
ELVIS IS THE BEST THEN AND EVER>THE REST HAVE ALL BEEN DAZZLED AND ENCOURAGED BY ELVIS AND HIS GREAT SOUL AND TALENT,BUT BELEIVE NO BODY WILL EVER BE ELVIS OR BEAT OR REPLACE HIM.HE WAS TOP OF THE LIST FOR BEING A GREAT PERSON A GREAT SOUL AND A GREAT TALENT,AND HIS TALENT STILL FILLS THE WORLD AND PEOPLES SOULS WITH HIS MAGIC AND WILL FOREVER MORE X
Thank you for posting. What a great plethora of pictures of Elvis. Even though I was only 4 when he died, I have the greatest respect for him and can't wait to get to Graceland again. This, in my opinion, was one of his best songs, he poured his heart out on.
Sadly Elvis overused his voice (doing 837 Vegas shows in just a few years) and he also abused it by putting "too much" into certain songs (ie if i can dream and countless others). Decline of his vocal ability/quality was apparent by the early 70s. With serious illnesses that weakened him/his constitution in the last couple of years came further decline in his vocal abilities. His much better version of this song is two years prior (ELIVS - Bridge Over Troubled Water (NEW mix! Great sound!). :D
Even with a vocal decline in the last 5 years of his life he was as beloved as ever...his fans would continue to support him and adore him right up until the end grateful for the amazing gift be brought to us. Little Richard said it well: "Elvis was God-given. There's no explanation. A messiah comes around every few thousand years, and Elvis was it this time." It would explain why 33 years after his death he is selling out concerts all over the world! and his home is 2nd most visited home in US!
@FirstElvis I agree without a doubt. Elvis is the greatest singer period of all time. No man on the face of this planet can compare to him. His voice was unique in everyway. No one could come close to walking in his shoes, not now, not ever.
"It is a sad but happy time celebrating the birth and life of Elvis.. What an honor it is to have had him in our lifes and for him to share his life with us, and then for him to leave us with such beautiful memories of music and laughter.. He well be forever in the hearts of the countless that love and admire him.. He was a blessing God gave the world to enjoy. Rest in Peace, My Friend" less
@aaronracine Elvis Presley and Kurt Cobain there will never be anyone who can get get near them. To look at them you have to wear sunglasses or you will go blind.
@aaronracine Michael Jackson is a shit musician but an excellent dancer. There s no reason to admire his music that much, if it s not an commercial pressure.

I was born in 65 and like you my family played elvis and I became familiar with many song. Especially the 1970's Elvis, which era I like the most. I was just born at the right time to catch his carreer, considering that others have missed it. It's a shame that those people didn't capture it. I'm glad I did.

Elvisfan11561 - Elvis is still with us, alive and well. We would never
expose his location, for any amount of money. We find comfort in
knowing that Elvis is enjoying his grandchildren. He doesn't want for
money. The proof is there. Pray and keep an open mind.
As folks age, we tune into our life's purpose [ what you chose for this

I have this bootleg (The Greensboro Concert), one of the better concerts (1972), sad, that he went downhill after this.
Ironically, the official release of Elvis in Concert (1977) is AWFUL!
Just think how good his concerts (and life) would have been if he had stopped listening to that ass, Private Tom Parker!
