  • @Shawty453 Thank you!

  • There aren't many songs that gives me chills and makes me cry, but this song certainly does!

    GOD BLESS JOE HISAISHI-SAN

  • I'm learning this piece right now, I really like your interpretation! The way you play the arpeggiated chords is wonderful, and you have great control over your dynamics. I hope to one day play to your ability :)

  • @geraldkho Thank you - and I wish you every success in your study of the piece!

  • @PSearPianist May I have the sheet music for this piece, I am a huge fan of Joe Hisaishi, I've heard a lot of different versions of this song, but this one is by far best

  • @SouskeSagara1 Thanks for your messages. I don't have the sheet music - I borrowed it from a library and returned the score. If you search for the title on the MusicRoom site you should find it - I think it is in a book of Essential Film Themes.

  • Es genial esta partitura! ¿Donde la podría encontrar?

  • Wow .. that's beautiful! Almost made me cry.

  • @LilDonniefyi I'm glad you liked it!

  • @PeppermintRose1 Thanks - that's a really great comment. Alas I don't have the sheets - I played from a book I borrowed from a library. If you search for the title in Musicroom, you should find the book - one of MusicSales ' Essential Film Themes ' series.

  • @iamanaccident Thank you!

  • Wow, you have just made my day a lot brighter, thank you for playing this piece. I would also like to congratulate you not just on technique, but also, I have noticed that your music really comes from the heart, I could really feel a lot of emotion coming from it.

Thank you so much for making me feel this way.

I look forward to hearing from you soon :)

  • @Robertaguiot Thanks very much. Music that does not come from the heart (and there is a lot of it around) is not worth hearing!

  • I really enjoyed listening to this! It was beautiful :) I want to be as good as you!!

  • @HateRainLoveSun Thank you! Work hard at the piano and you can be better than me!

  • favorited !!! thank you !!!!!!!!!

  • @sodaxcandy08 ~That's great to hear!

  • Love Joe Hisaishi !

    超愛久石 譲

    沒有他

    這個世界上可能會少了什麼

    是我內心的感動吧

  • @BRUCE1997829 Thank you!

  • You are really good at sight reading because during playing you are staring at the score and reading it as you playing it, good work!

  • @Mr0Piano0 Thanks. Of course I do learn the pieces I play - even though I don't actually memorize them!

  • @PSearPianist Again you have my respect sir.

  • BRAVO!!

  • @tehanliang Thank you!

  • This is so beautiful I actually like it better than the OST :]

*sigh* Now i have to add another song to my to-learn list~ Thank you so much for making my day better. ^^

  • @kimixmiyako Thank you. It is great that I made your day better, and hope you do learn the piece one day.

  • you play magnificently. thank you!

  • @mrtomcreo That's really kind!

  • sometimes i wonder why isn't reprise as famous as one summer's day and always with me? Reprise is my favorite song from Spirited Away, it always has ever since the first time i saw it. Thank you for playing this song, you much talent and you play beautifully.

  • @ApRiL3706 Thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have to admit that I do not know 'One Summer's Day'!

  • @PSearPianist This is absolutely Beautiful! It just makes me teary eyed when I listen to this song, and even more when I hear you play! This was playing in my mind during graduation, and all the tears just started rolling down. Its simply a beautiful piece, and you made it even better!

  • @didu52 Thank you - that's a really nice comment. And my congratulations on your graduation!

  • I'm playing this on piano and I'm on the third page.

But on the third page theres a part with four sharps.

How do I remember to play all four sharps as the song goes on?

    P.S.

I really liked your version! You played perfectly! :)

  • @heartxoxoheartxoxo Thank you. I hope you are enjoying learning the piece. It is easy to miss changes of key when reading through music. Hopefully you will realise as you play that it sounds wrong without the four sharps and that will remind you!

  • @PSearPianist Thanks for the advise! :)

  • I really want to learn, but i cant read notes, can u make a tutorial, tht would be a dream come true !! cuz this movie is really touching T^T i reli want to learn :(

  • @Elyshazz Thanks very much. Alas I do not have the equipment or knowhow to do a tutorial, but there are a lot of people who specialise in that, and maybe you will find one already here on YouTube.

  • So beautiful. I truly cried, and always will when I hear this song. Thank you.

  • @PunkHippie1971 Thank you. All I will say is - don't listen to it too often!

  • Comment removed

  • @mathgeekgigle well, as they say, 'follow your dreams' and go for it!

  • im just imagining the scene where haku remembers his real name and chihiro and him are gliding across the sky

thanks for posting, haha i think i may just rewatch the movie tonight :)

  • @serenahx If you do, I hope you enjoy it!

  • Beautiful playing of a beautiful song. This piece was used in a scene which never fails to bring tears to my eyes with it's tenderness, simplicity and innocence. May I ask where you got your sheet music? I'd love to play this as well. Thank you so much for posting :)

  • @lhfsing I played from a book I borrowed from a library called 'Film Music for Solo Piano' published by Chester Music. You can find it on the Musicroom website, and you can also download a version of this piece alone as a digital download from there

  • I can't play piano but that's one of my dreams, and when I see you play Hisaishi's pieces with so much talent, I want an only thing : move my hands to fulfill this dream ! Thank you a lot for this wonderful interpretation !

  • @Alexlenewmenestrel Thanks for your kind comment. Do learn the piano if you have the opportunity - you will get a lot of pleasure from it!

  • @PSearPianist I hope so :)

  • u are very inspiring with ur work; i try to do a jazz interpretation and would like to share it with u :) greets

  • @JazzChrissPL Thank you. Let me know when you have uploaded it and I will take a look!

  • O__O

wow, you're really really amazing at playing the piano..

will you be my new ojji-san??? *_*

  • @crazyXninjaXfishy I doubt if I am old enough!

  • you're amazing! You played over 1000 pieces. While I hardly learned 20 in 3 years O_O.....

  • @L4RSLink Well, I guess one gets into a routine of learning pieces quickly. Not all the pieces I play are very difficult though!

  • this old man is awesome! U go old man!!!! So beautiful

  • @AmidProcrastination Woah - I'm not that old!

  • @PSearPianist You don't look a day over 60 :) Keep up the beautiful piano playing. Do you have anymore Miazaki pieces? Actually, I'll just go look now... :)

  • I wish I could have the piano sheets!!!!~I cant play by ears~T_T~ love this song so so so much!!!!~

  • @wgaeolus It is in a book called 'Essential Film Themes 2' - search for it and you will find it.

  • I really enjoyed the video, but is there any way you could improve the audio a little? I feel the uploaded audio does you no justice to how you probably actually played.

  • @pakiah Thank you. The audio probably does leave something to be desired, and I have changed my editing process recently. Nevertheless, I like to stick with the camera mikes to achieve spontaneity.

  • Great masterpiece sir, well done... it let me relax and took me to another world... i rarely listen to piano or classical music but the way you play, heck i'd put you top ten. i have to mention though you look like the old man in spirited away who works at the boilers :)

  • @AH7012 Thanks very much - alas I cannot disguise that I have played piano for more than 45 years. If I could take 20 years off my age, I would!

  • Ouuaaah °o° C'est vraiment jolie :D Joe Hisaishi est vraiment émouvant..

  • @Renkolight Merci beaucoup!

  • #OMG film super watсh online or clownload роор.su

  • Beautiful song and excellent playing. Thank you so much for posting.

  • @hsiao5964 Thanks for your kind comment!

  • you do a good job playing this song

  • @cammygirl38367 I'm pleased that you lliked it!

  • This was posted on my birthday! <3

  • @xiaonoobiexd I hope you had a great day!

  • i was wondering which Joe Hisaishi piece I should learn next... =) this definitely helped me decide.

  • @lilopantheist I'm glad to have been of help to you!

  • This song always brings me good memories back in the days. The way you play it simply brings me into another world. You have a "God given talent". I am blessed acknowledge such skills as yours.

  • @SaMsoNYaJ That's a really kind comment, and much appreciated.

  • I could feel the love (and general... feelings?) from the original movie, and it's clear that you are an amazing player :)

  • @bleach1804 Thank you very much! I'm ashamed to say that I have not seen the movie, but I certainly listened to the soundtrack before making this video.

  • @PSearPianist If you haven't seen the movie, I definitely recommend it :) The soundtrack is a gigantic reason of why the movie was so successful, in my opinion.

  • Really gorgeous. Thanks for sharing :)

  • @bachjess Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • i smell a pro

  • @alexy527 Well, I do make a meagre living from accompanying for exams, rehearsals etc. - but not from playing solos on YouTube!

  • @codwarrior69 Thank you!

  • @PSearPianist ur playng is soo fluent and full of feeling ,were you a teacher

  • @merkage21 Thanks for your very kind comment. I have never taught piano, but I have been playing for over 45 years.

  • Bravo! You've re-inspired me to learn this song - I stopped halfway to learn another song. I absolutely love your rendition. :D It definitely captures the emotions from the original orchestra version.

  • @PattehPatrick Thank you for that, and good luck with your own study of the piece!

  • *sob sob* so beautiful~

You did an awesome job!! Wish I had skills like that...

    ~dreamy sigh~

    Definitely a fav

  • @DragonWolfShadow That's a really nice comment. Thanks very much - and I am sure that somewhere you have the skills to play this!

  • i have never listened an original Reprise after Joe Hisaishi's own one, Jaws dropped.

  • @FalconsViewpoint sentimental chord quite resembles the original one!

  • @FalconsViewpoint Thanks for your comment - it hope it means that you found my interpretation OK!

  • @PSearPianist Let me explain it further Mr Sear :) Your interpretation is like, to metaphor, a tofu based veggie cake I had today which tasted exactly like cheese cake but was put natural ingredients by skillful chef - a jaw-dropper. To summarize, I guess original Reprise didnt used single piano, so I cannot believe that you made this work with single piano, Thus its amazing like vegetarian food, feels natural, tastes just like original one!

  • @FalconsViewpoint Thank you for that interesting explanation. Actually I played from a published piano arrangement, but added to the middle section having listened to the soundtrack CD so that I could get as close as possible to the orchestral sound. This is the sort of thing I have to do often in my work as an accompanist for opera rehearsals, where I have to recreate for the singers the impression of full orchestra!

  • This was absolutely amazing, and it's one of my favorite pieces! 5 stars =)

  • Thank you!

  • Amazing. Just amazing. 5 stars and favorited. Great job.

  • Thank you!

  • awesome!

  • Thank you Mr Bean. If you are an alchemist, maybe you can let me know how I can turn base metals into gold - or maybe ordinary piano videos into multi-million view hits!

  • It sounds so beautiful as the original :)

  • Thank you for that!

  • My gosh, that was gorgeous. I love Hisaishi's work, and Miyazaki is amazing. Keep it up!

  • Thank you for that!

  • That was beautiful. You are really good. How long did it take you to learn the whole peice?

  • I can't remember. Probably about 2 days between first playing it through and recording it (and in that time I also listened to the soundtrack recording so I could hear what it sounded like with orchestra).

  • amazing! just wondering. how did you find the music sheet of it? I love Spirited Away's soundtrack ! you did a brilliant job by the way !

  • It is in the Musicsales' 'Essential Film Themes 2" book. Glad you liked it!

  • i've watched this movie, too! Very well done! My sister can play this piece, but it wasnt as long as this one!

  • Thank you. My performance used the published piano version of the piece (although I filled in a few extra notes here and there!).

  • Awesome!!!!!!

You let your fingers do their magic!

  • Thank you. I try to do that - though sometimes the fingers have to be carefully reined in!

  • Very nice. It's a magical song. :)

  • Thank you - I'm glad you like it!

  • Hmm, this IS a very good piece from Hisaishi. I have the score for One Summer's Day if you would like it. Also a quick question: Did you ever take formal lessons for the piano?

  • Thank you! I did indeed take formal lessons and lots of exams (the last completed only five years ago). I don't think I would have been able to play lots of classical music without formal tuition.

  • this is one of my favorite Joe Hisaishi pieces!

thank you for the beautiful performance!!

  • Thank you very much. I must try to play some more pieces by him - if I can get hold of the scores.

  • Thank you for this.

  • It's a pleasure!

  • Beautiful very beautiful ^^ remind me of spirited away ... thank you for this beautiful piece ^^

  • Thank you!

  • You can click on 5-stars and it will change your rating.

  • Don't worry about that! I'm glad you enjoyed the vid!

  • wow..very touching...

  • Thank you!

  • really beautiful..like the movie and the others..

    thanks for uploading :)

  • Thank you for that!

  • This song makes me both happy and sad when listening to it. It is so pretty.

    You played it wonderfully :)

  • Thanks for your most kind comment!

  • Beautiful played. Spirited away is my favourite movie ever.

  • Thanks for your kind comment - which, from a fan of the movie, is much appreciated.

  • BRAVO!!

  • Thank you!

  • Absolutely wonderful. I really would like to hear from you some other hisaishi's piano pieces. ^^

  • Thank you! This is the only piece for which I have had the sheet music available. Maybe I will buy a book of his pieces some day.

  • Beautifully played. I actually just started to work on this song. :)

  • Thank you!. Good luck with your own study. I would recommend you to fill in the central waltz section a bit to give an impression of running quavers like in the soundtrack recording, because if you play it as it appears in the printed piano score it is a bit bare.

  • Thanks, and i will. =D

  • Oooooooh.... I love Joe Hisaishi!!!!!

  • Alas this is the only score by him that I have ever seen!

  • Dang how many languages do you know? and whats the one below??

  • I only speak English, but I make careful use of online translation facilities (always using the 'back translation' option) to reply to commentators in their own language!

  • Супер. Хорошо сыграно и мелодия приятная. 5*

  • Спасибо за ваш очень любезный комментарий!

  • Beautiful :)

  • Thank you!

  • please if you can

    learn summer

is a song of joe hisaishi

    is amazing

and i would like to hear it from you

  • Hisaishi's music is not that well-known in the UK and this is the only piece I have found in a book. I will look out for 'Summer' though!

  • I agree with Daniel1tkd0, Summer is such a fun song, and i would like to hear it from you too. :)

  • Thanks!

  • And by the way, I want to tell you that I'm studying a Clementi's work, The 2nd piece of his book "Gradus Ad Parnassum".. But I find no video post of it in Youtube.. So I don't have an acceptable interpretation to hear and to have a little reference, except of my teacher's one.. But it's not enough for me.. So, it would be very nice from your part if you published that piece.. If you can, of course.. I'm not obligating you.. I just propose this ... What do you think?

  • I will have a look Could you send me a message with the tempo marking and key of the piece just so that I can be sure that my copy of the Gradus is in the same order.

  • Hello, Sir! It's been a long time without me commenting in your channel!.. I don't have so much time.. But well, I enjoyed very much this piece, definetily precious.. Once again, thanks for posting!

    Regards from Argentina..

  • Thank you very much - and greetings again from the UK, where at last Summer is nearly here!

  • I'm so glad I subscribed to this channel! Joe Hisaishi is one of my favourite movie composers and 'Spirited Away' is my favourite animated film! You have a 'Green Mile' video as well that's just as good. Where are you getting these fantastic scores?

  • Thank you! I have mainly used the 'Essential Film Themes' books - a numbered series, which I get from my local library. Where I can I check them out with the OST recordings - not always possible.

  • Beautiful. Just this one word...

  • Thank you!

  • WOW!!the piece brings back lots of memories..may i suggest "one summer day"?..that one's really good,too..if you have time, that is..considering all the classical pieces you record everyday!..lol..God Bless..:D

  • This is the only Hisaishi piece I have ever seen in print - his music is not so easily found here in the UK!
