I have numerous Hohner Marine Band harps I bought back in the mid-60's. The covers are marred with rust and the wooden combs distorted with warping. They became unplayable within months of purchase but I don't have the heart to throw them out - it's that Dylan nostalgia thing; I played most of his early songs on them. Now I have Suzuki, Hammond, Hohner Special 20's and Lee Oskars, but for me the best value harps by some margin are the Lee Oskars. I would never buy a wooden-combed harp.
So what are you trying to do? Sounds like your just trying to sell the harp. You offer very little in the way of anything constructive. I mean who the hell wants that stupid dumb looking bag? I mean are you serious???????
Hey man, i've been a big fan off bob dylan for a while now and have decided i wanna buy (and learn haha) a harmonica, what key harp do i want if i want to play dylan stuff and also rock/blues (muddy waters, aerosmith)? thanks in advance
hi just wondering, how do you order the signature series, becuase when i click 'how to buy' it only shows me the hand signed $25 000 and $5000 ones..... :S
the lesson here folks is this: This item should be considered purely for well to do bob dylan or harmonica collectors.. OR the most eccentric of Bob Dylan fans. Why? well, this signature series is released to pay tribute to the relationship between Bob Dylan and those cheapo marine band harmonica's that he always plays. That's right, Bobby himself just played on the regular one you play on. So, a Hohner Marine Band Harp at your local store is probably good enough.. unless you a collect :)

I've just recently become obsessed with Bob Dylan, and I'm really looking for a good harp for cheap. I was looking into an Old Standby from Hohner, but I'm really not sure if that's too cheap...any suggestions?
Nice video...i like harmonica's sound and i was thinking of buying one and learn some stuff,do you think that a hohner silver star is good for a begginer like me or i should buy something else?
Maybe pick a harp to suit your budget right now, then get out there and do some busking - and then you'll have the money for an expensive harp. Don't forget you are paying for the name on the box and the box itself here - if you don't need a flashy box you should try a Marine Band deluxe or the standard Marine Band, they are great harps and might suit you better. Good luck! Ben
I have the same harp, but i never play it much, don't wanna break it., so i bought a regular marine band deluxe, which is about the same. It's a sweet piece of harp, though
Good advie, I won't eat it.

Is the signature his actual autograph? Or is it just like an auto-pen writing of his signature?
maggottron333 10 months ago
@maggottron333 I forget now, I haven't seen one for a year or so but it will surely be stamped onto the mold of the coverplate. Ben

Oh , too bad.. I don't like the cover plate's shape of the big river harmonica. But still is a nice collectable and certainly, a great harp.

(They also come in a set of seven harmonicas in different keys for 25,000 USD.)
