  • Here's the definition of AV rated:

Letter ratings based upon an attorney's experience, nature of practice, and reputation among peers. The first letter indicates a lawyer's legal ability, based on standards in his or her area of practice. "A" stands for "very high to pre-eminent." The second letter is a general recommendation, based on professional conduct, ethics, reliability, and diligence. The "v" stands for "very high" for integrity "AV" rating is the highest achievable.

  • Most people dont hire an attorney when they sue, that's usually just small claims courts and hiring a lawyer for a divorce is very expensive. I'll give you an example: my own parents got divorced and it took them over 10 years to finally get it finalized because of the costs. How many people do you know can afford $200-$300 an hour to hire an attorney? That's the basis. It's pretty much like insurance for legal services. Same way like insurance is for health care. Do you kind of get it now?

  • what is an affordable cost per hour in your opinion to pay for an attorney for a divorce? How much will a PPL plan make the hourly fee cost?

  • Well the costs are up to the attorney you hire to do your divorce. The firm you choose might let you have a free consultation but expect to pay at least $200+ per hour to do your filing. With the PPL plan, you only pay a monthly fee of $35 or less. That's the benefit of the program, you dont have to pay an hourly rate.

  • I have been using a family attorney for sometime off and on. And if what your telling me is that the use of the family attorney is free under the plan, then I will sign up. Can you send me a faxed letter with this information before I sign up something that states this. I can give you the fax number

  • That's not exactly the case. You get assigned a provider law firm that PPL pays a retainer so you dont have to pay. Let me give you an example: I'm in CA so my provider law firm is Parker Stanbury. They are an "AV" rated law firm which is the highest rating you can have. You'll be assigned to a specific law firm in your state. What state are you in?

  • Are you guaranteed to have to have an AV rated law firm and attorney work your case are all the attorneys in the network AV rated? What is the difference between a non av and av rated? I am in Michigan. I just wanted to know that it was free for a family attorney under the plan. That is what you stated.

  • Since you are in MI, your law firm would be Powers, Chapman, DeAgostino, Meyers and Milia, PC. They are also an AV rated firm. I think all the law firms are AV rated. I dont have time to check all 50 states but in MI, that would be your law firm and yes, they are AV rated. I stated you dont have to pay an hourly rate because PPL pays each law firm a very high retainer so you dont have to pay one. For instance, in CA, Parker Stanbury is paid about $1.7 million a month to stay on retainer.

  • if 80% of people can not afford attorneys then how is it that the courts are so filled with people getting divorces and suing each other etc. Are these all rich and poor people only and no middle class americans?
