People forget that the same amount of U.S. troops died during the Korean war which lasted 3 years as the Vietnam war did during 10 years of combat.

@strongdiddy We should honour their service more - I can't be (pejoratively) political in the comments but the reasons are so obvious & still very relevant to the modern world today, the US & Western defence of Korea & by extension Japan & the West Coast of the US (what is now called the Great Pacific wall of Western defences in the Pacific) prevented what still exists in North Korea & China being the norm & possible a third world war.

my grandfather got a bronze star fighting the Chinese in the Korean war... crazy! It was when the Chinese counter attacked.

The world would have been a much safer place if we would have listened to MacArthur and Patton at the end of WW2/beginning of the Korean War. There would have been no cold war and China and Russia would never have become the threats they did or have yet to be. Oh well...
