  • Hear what God of Israel YAHUSHUA-YAHUWAH (Son and Father are ONE) saying to our generation by His chosen prophets: Trumpetcallofgodonline. com ; Letter called "Purify Your Faith, and Come to the Father as It is Written": EXCERPT: "Only in the Bible and through these very Letters, of which I have given to My prophet of the end of this age, shall you find Him and know Him."

  • Try sitting on a Model A bumper like they're doing (it's about 1/2 inch wide). I bet they didn't stay there long after this picture was taken.

  • Wonderful singers, this sounds better then when I first heard it on the radio. Mother Maybelle, Sara and A.P..

  • nostalgic

  • Raw, compelling and so pure. They felt it and they sang it, and there it was. No fancy production, auto-tuning, overdubs, etc. They might as be in your living room or on your porch.

Notice not only the singing but Maybelle's unique guitar style...playing leads and turnarounds with the melody prominent on the bass strings while the treble strings keep the rhythm jangling. Much admired and much imitated by generations of guitarists.

  • The Chuck Wagon Gang did a wonderful job on this classic also.

  • I'm 15....And this is the only music I'll listen to more the rest of my days

  • you can see this church at roadsideamerica

  • im only 20 . I like this i hope we can hold on to this song and all old songs in my generation

  • It just doenst get much better than this!

  • This was a school song for me. I never knew it was a Carter Family classic. It's beautiful to hear this verson. So much prettier than I had thought as a child.

  • i really love these songs and who they are. such good christian singing

  • @dianekelley63 I'm a militant atheist and I love this song.

  • Enjoyed it, but I don't care too much for the female singer with the low, monotone voice. There's no feeling in her voice.

  • @SilverDoe6 Sara Carter's voice is unique and may take some getting used to but you'll find if you listen to many of their other songs that it adds a quality and a depth than no other singer has achieved. Hope you develop a liking for her. I find her incomparable. And, an item of interest: AP was a youngster when he heard what he called "the most beautiful voice in the world." It was a 14 year old Sara singing on her porch. He fell in love with her voice and loved her everafter.

  • @SilverDoe6 The lead singer is Sara Carter. Her voice may take some getting used to but it is unique and if you listen to more of the original Carter Family, you may find as I did that her voice adds a depth to the songs that no "prettier" voice could achieve. AP Carter as a young man was strolling along and heard what he thought was "the most beautiful voice in the world." He went around to find a 14 year Sara singing on her porch. He fell in love with her for life over her voice.

  • @edejan That's all very interesting, but I still don't care for her voice and I've heard some of their other material. I'm just not into that kind of singing.

  • Funn stuff today. :-)

  • Pure American music.

  • Wonderful video! Thanks so much for sharing this treasure! God bless you!

  • Now THAT'S COUNTRY at its' finest!!

  • Very nice song, brings pure joy! Thank you for posting!

  • I read a few comments that are very touching.

  • It is wonderful to share a southern heritage with such talent.

  • I heard this at Melody Fair in Buffalo back in the 70's. Mother Maybelle was awesome! Johnny Cash and June Carter and I don't remember who else. It was a memorable event!

  • beautiful

  • Is there a piano version with chords available? Aloha and God bless.

  • @kevsurfskauai -- this song can be found in a lot of old hymnals (that's where I got it when I sang it at my aunt's funeral). Try your local library.

  • Oh what memories!

  • @pamlady911 my grandma used to sing this all the time. my ma still does once in a while.

  • They bring out the best in country music.

  • great song sang by a great family, I remeber singing this in chapel when I was still in school brings back memories

  • Down Home.

  • Love the way AP sounds in the background "Oh Come Come Come Come" Never again will music like this be made. Thanks to God it was recorded. So much has been lost, Thumbs up to VinylCountryMusic, thanks man!

  • @cbrsamurai When AP's voice is heard on the old recordings, it's very effective. This is a great example. AP's contribution to the Carters is sometimes viewed as primarily an important background role, most notably in repertoire and arrangements.....and only incidentally in performance. But in fact I think his contribution in performance is considerable.

  • Love this song!

  • HONEST MUSIC

  • This triggers a sweet memory I have of being in East Tennessee up in the hills around Kingsport on those narrow, twisting dirt roads when I happened upon a little church. They were having "dinner on the ground" as I remember from growing up in south Alabama. I stopped to listen to the singing which was reminiscent of the Carter Family. They invited me and I ate with them and enjoyed their company that afternoon....and then that moment was over. Thanks for the post, Vinyl....

  • I love the wonderful simplicity of the song and the music of the Carter family.

Thanks for the great video. I know I will play it many times.

  • great video love it!

  • Remember hearing them in the 30's on our battery radio as we didn't have electric back then.

  • Early country was the very best music there was, todays music is about how loud you can play it and the majority of the instuments today are plugged in.(electric) Nasville's music today cannot compare to this . WAYNE

  • @46r11 Agree with you.

  • LOVE this! simple yet profound! thank you very much for posting!

  • There should be thre options Love It Like It Or Dislike IT oh forget it one button LoVE IT !!!

  • My grandmother had Alzheimers. She got to where she couldn't talk. But, we took her to church one Sunday night and she sat there and sang every word of all the old hymns that they sang. Amazing how the mind works.

  • My mom and dad use to sing this as I was growing up! It was great to hear it again!

  • this song was actually written by the guy who built a small church in Nashua, Iowa. ive actually been in the church when this song was played cause i live just thirty miles from there. the town it was originally built in was bradford ia.

its kind of cool to think this song is that famous and it was written about a church in a small town in iowa.

  • Absolutely Incredible!!! Why this is not on the top of the country charts I dont know. Even though its 80 years old it sounds better than anything on the billboard top 40 today.

  • @Caretaker24523:

    Thank God!!

Here in Jordan I see the same when I play Al-Quran.

Something reaches out beyond this worlds fog,to the next's.blessed light..

They are our Mothers and Fathers.

How dear to us they should be!!

    noor.

  • I've only heard a couple of songs where AP sings. Are there more of them?

  • mother maybelle was a master on the auto harp..a lost art.

  • My grandmother had Alzheimer's and towards the end she seemed to have "forgotten" how to speak and was almost completely unresponsive to all outside stimulus unless we put on The Carter Family and she would try to sing along with it.

  • obviously,I was talking about the car! You surely know about the gangsters from the 30's.Bonnie and Clyde? Anyway, this is a gospel song and why are you using crude language on this site? Do you think the Carter's would approve/ Use a little respect. Make your Ma proud! I;m sure she wouldn't approve. The Carter's are the best, Did I say otherwise? If you don't know who Bonnie and Clyde, are, google them or check u-tube. It's all about the car!

  • Hey,where's Bonnie and Clyde?

  • The Carter Family Recordings have the power to help you forget, atleast for a short while, your personal trials and worries, and the termoil this old world is going through now, I for one shur appreciate there contribution.

  • The car brings back memoryies of my 1934 Ford V8. I have been listening since as a small child. First on the crystal set, then radio, and records. Don't ever remember seeing them on TV. The family is some of the best folk singers that ever lived and I still enjoy their music as much to day as ever. Certainly aa 5 star rating.

  • In the old days, did they ever get to appear on the Grand Ole Opry?

  • Just as good today as 60 years ago when I first heard them on radio. Wonderful!!!!

  • Wow, cool, you remember the carter family's music when it was new, that's awesome :-)

  • to listen to the carter family family brings back many happy times lying under the willows by the river and hearing this music

  • Wonderful gospel song and music.Could

someone tell me what year this was recorded?

  • I work at an Alzheimer's facility and a lot of days are rough but put the Carter family on the radio and watch the looks of joy come to the faces of even the most confused resident. Sweet and serene to say the least.

  • ah, that's great :-)

  • Isn't it odd that many Alz. sufferers can't remember someone they met 10 minutes ago, but remember faces, names, lyrics and events from 60 years ago like it was yesterday? I'm glad you have found a great way to connect their minds with great memories. Music is a powerful memory tool because it touches so many areas of the brain - speech, tone, rhythm, even visual and olfactory if they enjoyed a live performance, as so much music was performed in the days before CDs and MP3s! God bless!

  • @Caretaker24523 plus............you can play the same song over and over and over and over and over

  • @Caretaker24523

    What a fine comment!

  • @Caretaker24523 We carroled recently in a nursng home, and the smiles on the residents as we pased move me to tears. Our first round, they were all lying and watching TV or sleeping, or what have you. the second round, mostwere sittig up and singing along, many moving to the hall to watch. Bless you in your work.

  • @Caretaker24523

God bless you for your work. I spent a lot of time in the nursing home (not with Alzheimer's folks, but still) it's so hard!! I wish more facilities would do something like that in the putting on of music, and maybe bringing in young pups, etc. They NEED something sweet and lovely and it does our hearts good to see them smile.

  • @Caretaker24523 My great grandma was 93 when she died in 09. She had alzheimers and i play music, this kind of music and she could resite every word of these old songs but when it come to anything else it was all gone exept me, i was the last person she knew. There's not a day goes by that i dont think of her, and may God rest her soul.

  • @Caretaker24523 PLease dont brag on enjoyment of these wonderful songs -- remember we had a man

with " old country tunes " and the assholes at YOU -TUBE finally found a way to get rid of him --all good

clean music --they said copy wright infringement -- B-S -- they could have found a way to save all the hundreds

of songs --he posted for us to enjoy -- that was all he did --nothing else and the fags at u-tube snatched

his site -- with to real reason -- !!!!!! Pissed in N>C>

  • @54blueflamesix Hey take a breath will you? Who are you talking about anyway?

  • The Carter Family was an American treasure.Thank you for this little bit of history!!

  • so, so, so beautiful. it makes me absolutely speechless whenever i stop and think about how old these Carter Family recordings are. i am so grateful that we have them.

  • Ohh, nothing like this old gospel music!

  • nice!!!!

  • I'm still youg but realy love these old songs.
