  • It´s Scotlands shame!!!!!!

    Why??

  • Ummm...wonder how the fellows feel about "Pink Floyd's song Echoes"

  • support scottish anti sectarian legislation and make a step towards peace

  • FUCK CELTIC, Abusing our brave armed forces at games!

  • Comment removed

  • If only the rest of the world knew about the real Scotland. Hats off to Mogwai for making an amazing song out of a sinister subject matter!

  • who's Yoda?

  • FUCK FOOTBALL. how old are you, fucking twelve?

  • fails to deliver this track promises much

  • @MrLaurie66 the way you arranged that makes you kinda sound like Yoda

  • best British band ever

  • @TheChowie Scottish toots...x :P

  • @TheChowie The're Scottish not English they aren't from Great Britain they are from Scotland in the UK

  • @rancorx Great Britain is England, Scotland and Wales. The UK is them 3 plus Northern Ireland

  • @TheChowie they still aren't British even if you were correct :p

  • Sectarianism is the said shame of Scotland.

  • this sounds like nothing iv'e heared before (just kidding ofc)

  • Isis + Sigur Rós

  • @erg0apollo Sounds like Jesus, mate. You'd make a good Christian.

  • Nice music to enjoy to...

  • I really could see this playing on my funeral

  • Anyone else think the drums in this song are reminiscent of Orange marching bands? If I'm right then..... very clever, Mogwai.

  • i love it,like latraccia

  • it is so obscure. I have a mind fuck now

  • This tripe coming from a band who support a team who covered up child sex abuse .No wonder they have never made it big. Eh stuart!

  • @WEEJIMMYBOY aye and if ma auntie had baws she'd be ma uncle. get back to ure crack pipe and bottle of buckie ya wee ned. and for the people that dont speak scots i feel this chap made a tenious link between mogwai and paedophillia ;@

  • i forgive you

  • i do forgive you

  • shame on scotland.

  • Whats all this about rangers and celtic? Get a grip. You are all embarrassing.

  • @Lesley246 The title Scotland's Shame refers to sectarianism in Scotland - primarily focusing on Rangers FC's own anti-Catholic and anti-Irish traditions.

  • @ScottMcDonald27 Hm, I didn't know that. There was a good article in the observer about Neil Lennon not long ago that was all about exactly that. Surprised to have learnt something from a youtube comment, thank you :)

  • The track's about bigotry, and sectarianism in Scotland as a whole. It's some of the most emotive music you'll ever hear.

  • @sparky0370 how is it you know what the songs about?

  • @MrSoldierboi420 T.M. Devine has a book of the same name, published in 2000. The subheading reads: 'Bigotry and Sectarianism in Modern Scotland'. I'm no Scot, but if this is a major problem in Scotland then I guess it would be safe to say that this *might* be what the song is about... at least partly.

  • @Sjovn ahh i see thanks for the info ill look that book up sounds interesting :)

  • @MrSoldierboi420 It's just a feeling. There are sadly some very bigoted people in Scotland, who still think what religion you are, or what team you support really matters. People who attribute the song to Rangers, are in my opinion missing the whole point, and I'm a Celtic supporter. Sorry for the late reply, and if I came across like a know it all, it's just my take on it. What a tune though.

  • FUCK THE NAZI RANGERS

  • @o0scotland0o People like you are part of what this song means as "scotland's shame".

  • @thparticus dont think so. only the creators can say that.

  • It's exactly abt Rangers fans!!! hail to ye Mogwai!

  • This is... Walking numbly through naturally barren lands. Being sensitized to a cool breeze while sleep deprived. A fire of cynically driven ambition within. Betrayal and revolution. A war of idealism pitted against cold reality

  • @raaaaaarr

What are you trying to say about Scotland?

  • @raaaaaarr pretentious much?

  • @raaaaaarr are you a poet, and if so, can i use these words and print them on a t-shirt ?

  • @frizzybob i'm no poet, but sure you can

  • What the fuck is shoegazing genres and how does one music genre fuck up another?

  • god i hate this song... its so boring... i love post rock but are a lot of bands without passion

  • @plakk It's called build up. You must have the attention span of a goldfish.

    Awesome song.

  • @AnonymLonen sorry man, this song is boring to me. no offense

  • @plakk That's fine. I just don't understand your need to put down bands/songs other ppl like. I'm not fond of kesha but that doesn't mean I go out of my way to inform those who are of my disinterest. It would be rather... dickish, & a bit narcissistic if I did...

Anyhow, I wish you luck on finding more easily digestable & instantly gratifying music. And of course, I assume you'll afford me the respect of enjoying this beautiful work of art in peace. Thanks :)

  • @AnonymLonen why so offensive? i just have a different ideal in music. listen to this youtube.com/watch?v=R2toK3cIbYE

  • @plakk

    This is not your Facebook.

  • @elsewhereify why not

  • Mogwai have publically stated the titles of their songs have nothing to do with the content.

Therefore I would ask all the old firm "fans" on here to just listen to the music and enjoy it. Otherwise fuck off and spout your sectarian bile elsewhere

  • If you want to see Scotland's Shame then you will watch this:

    /watch?v=rLo8prSKe0U&feature=feedu

Fucking scumbags, the fucking lot of them.

  • MON SCOTLAND

  • Rangers fans truly are the shame of Scotland but celtic fans are just as bad both clubs are being used as a front for the release of political frustrations reading comments on here that much is true as there are very few comments related to the actual game of football but they are related to what each club supposedly stands for these issues need to be addressed by society and not locked away where they will only build up resentment.

  • This gives me shivers and it's 42 degrees celsius (107F) here

  • I imagine myself directing a movie all the time, and I would use this song to show a persons feet/legs walking for 8 whole minutes through thick and thin, through mud, dirt, water, snow, sleet, fog, through people, over branches, over dead animals, over dead people killed in a war, over money, over politicians, over corruption, over poverty, through famish, through war, through love and hate, through life. Getting to stairs, walking up. All the way up until the top. And finally sits on a throne.

  • @erg0apollo Don't give away your ideas. Some dink might see this and steal it.

  • @erg0apollo wow, i think you should try!

  • @erg0apollo That was beautiful man

  • @joegj666 thanks for reading it dude :))

  • @erg0apollo ur a beauty!!

  • @erg0apollo I got a good vision of that, it would go to this song very well. Should attempt a low budget version :)

  • @erg0apollo I support this.

  • @erg0apollo throne? what does the throne symbolize and the rest of the things he's "stepping over". I'm intrigued to hear more.

  • @fulltimeweirdos the things he "steps over" are phases of humanity and what the human race goes through and the throne symbolizes the final step and fall for man kind. :)

  • @erg0apollo awesome

  • @erg0apollo you really should do that! such a good idea

  • @erg0apollo just listen to the song, fag

  • @TheBritishArmyClan best reaction so far :-)

  • @70xr7Cougar lol might be harsh but i hate when i listen to a song thats not "mainstream" on youtube and some kid gets overly sensitive about it

  • @TheBritishArmyClan Right on,just enjoy!

  • @TheBritishArmyClan im not overly sensitive about it. i love mogwai and it inspires me. is it a crime to be a bit imaginative from music? i didn't mean to come off as annoying or typical.

  • @erg0apollo Man, this is my thinking entirely! I envision a perfect soundtrack in an ideal movie. This would be one of those tunes. Great post, mate - good to know I'm not alone.

  • @erg0apollo i wouldn't watch that

  • @TheNickFlowers cuz ur a faggot

  • @erg0apollo ahahah :L Im sorry but that whole little story thing you made up was too gay. If it was a movie it would be such a cringe moment.

  • @erg0apollo you should get a video recorder and make that! it would be so cool as a video for this song! and it would add so much meaning to the song..though the song already has quite a lot of meaning anyway.. :)

  • @erg0apollo Soo gay

  • @TheNickFlowers fuck you homie :P leave me and my imagination alone. i didn't mean to get 84 likes on that comment of mine.

  • Rangers are an embarrassment.

  • I want to be an astronaut, thats the feeling i get when i listen to music like that - just floating through the space with my shuttle to the edge of the universe

  • amazing

  • this is a piece of beauty few will ever manage to match. mogwai are a force to be reckoned with. indeed.

  • have you been to CRACKWOOD????

  • hm, not bad!

  • Scotland's pride.

  • Effing love Mogwai!!!!!

This song really reminds me of echoes by Pink Floyd, better though.

  • @mesmiths I am likin this band, but they're still learning to channel their inner Floyds.

  • Sad to see that everybody is still blaming each other for things that happened in the past, that in all likely they had nothing to do with. You go back far enough in history and nearly, if not all countries have blood on their hands. Maybe it's time to let it go.

  • das ist einfach großartig!

  • nice music

  • Scotland's shame!? more like Scotland's pride and joy - Mogwai <3

  • Can't believe I just paused The Smiths to listen to this

  • Can't believe I just paused The Smiths to listen to this pish.

  • @sarcassdick THIS is pish, yet you like The Smiths? Clearly no point in listening to your opinion then.

  • the sad true is that almost every country has such "fans".

  • This song remember me the incredible Zombie from The Cranberries.

  • this is maby about rangers AND celtic fans both r as bad as each other

  • @raith1986 no its not its about rangers fans.. just accept it

  • @humanshieldchorus yes it is

  • @raith1986 Given Mogwais very public support of Celtic I seriously doubt that.

  • Your wrong this is a song about rangers, this is a term about rangers fans and ranger club. but i will accept that celtic fans at times can be like rangers fans. but probaly with more just cause

  • I thought Mogwai couldn't do better than Happy Songs for Happy People. Then they came up with Mr. Beast. And then I thought they can't do better than Mr. Beast. Then they came up with the greatest of them all, Hawk is Howling, an album without a single piece of lyric!

  • don't you all realise this song is about amy macdonald?

  • @uilleamb i thought that too! damn!

  • What an incredible song.

  • good ol' mogwai - oh how i loved thee and still highly appreciate you.

  • Scotland's 'shame' is actually Ireland's shame. Because what is truly shameful about them is that they live in Scotland (some are born in Scotland) yet they are supporters of terrorist bombers who are responsible for killing children on the streets of England. Rangers fans have nothing to be ashamed of. It is celtic fans who run around Scotland waving the flag of another country. A country who supported Hitler during the war and supported paedophile preists up to this day. Go back to Ireland.

  • @cleverfeller GTF... Absolute bollocks. We wave the flag of our ancestors who were forced to Scotland by British Imperialism, remember Scotland also has suffered at the hands of the English... Highland Clearances. The 'RA always gave sufficient warning before bombs, and you cannot definitively classify them as terrorists, personally I'd count them as freedom fighters. I'm sure you support the Brit Army, which, to me, is a terrorist organisation. Also Eire didn't support Hitler.

  • eire was strictly neutral during WW2, however did allow britain some port access & IFS support. ireland had just fought a bitter war of independence after centuries of invasion, oppression, disenfranchisement, property theft, slavery, passive genocide & the final blow - partition. de velera had been sentenced to death a few years previous by the british govt! thus, he stuck tediously to neutrality, but there was no active support for the nazis in govt. sorry to piss on your anti-irish tirade.

  • @monogirl3 It's funny how the British throw accusations about Irish collaboration with Germany but go all quiet when their own people were handing Jews over to the nazis in the Channel Islands. Or their beloved royal family's initial support of Hitler.

  • @CheRevolution76 Fuck you!!! I hate how you people judge the actions of one person from a nation and then claim the WHOLE nation is like that. I am Scottish, i HATE hitler and what he stood for, i HATE the royal family. BUT don't you dare tar us all with the same brush.

  • @Truetomyself100 And where did I say that? Am I not saying them same thing about mass generalisations? As a fellow Scot we are governed now by people that 95% of us did not want. After the Fuck you bit I'm not really sure I get your rant?!?

  • @CheRevolution76 You all direct these comments like WE the people are responsible, well we are NOT. It's theclowns they elect to the house of commons. Don't bitch about the people for it blame the cunts who rule us. I find it offensive to say that I was responsible, whern infact I or most people here, had nothing to do with it!!! We are run by a careless government who makes these decisions themselves without bothering to ask us!

  • @CheRevolution76 Oh look another teen anarchist that puts Che Guevara's name as his youtube title and thinks hes an enlightened character. Wasnt Che Guevara a hardcore racist against blacks? Yuppp. Choose your idols more carefully. Now go waste your time by putting on your Che tshirt and screaming revolution some more.

  • @cleverfeller bitter rangers fan....

let go of the hate. your great granda is dead for fuck sake

  • This song is amzing

  • Listening to this with some accompaniment by a thunderstorm. It is ... simply amazing.

  • shut up about Nirvana, it's true that grunge fuck up shoegazing genres like post-rock but hey, just be glad we have mogwai and explosions in the sky and 65daysofstatic and Godspeed Yo...

  • @BelgianBass and many many many many more!

  • @BelgianBass although did you hear 65dos new album??

  • @BelgianBass Could you please elaborate more about how grunge screwed everything up for shoegazing, genres like post-rock ? See it also Screwed up things for other very creative alternative Post Punk Groups just to be more exact :) !

I just wanted to get your take on the Issue.... Thanks ! Peace

  • @BelgianBass shut the fuck up about nirvana! post rock and grunge are completly different but i like them both, obviously some people don't have eclectic taste.

  • @666jimmysmusicgirl i agree man. im sure mogwai are probaly nirvana fans as well

  • @davegrohl2k98 i think foo fighters are getting better with age even though dave must have been distraught when kurt died. i think they probebly are fans of nirvana lol thanks for agreeing :)

  • @BelgianBass Hmmm I don't know about you dissin' grunge. I love post-rock and grunge. They're both real neat. I listen to grunge when I want to express my emotions in a more lively way and I'll hear post-rock when when I just want to relax. Personally I need both.

  • @VicksyCat good for you ( no pun intended )

  • @VicksyCat I understand u completely,im baked,but I understand :)

  • @BelgianBass Would you like some cheese with that whine?

  • @tis2nwod roquefort plz

  • nirvana fucked up all the progres bands like metallica did for music in the late 80s, thats true......now mogwai have some good moments ,sparks now and then but you guys need to listen to alot more music these days, best band in 20 years ?, not even close

  • @felord Mogwai are definitely an extremly good band, care to share some of the ''best'' band in 20 years?

  • shit this schounds so 1970

  • Other than Radiohead, this is the best band in the past 20 years.

  • @MrWobbleHead No. No its not, nor is Radiohead...

  • @Napalmbl00t

    Gasp!! what a hater! :P

  • Nirvana?

  • Nirvana? who is that? ooooo, thats right, the band that ripped of Screaming Trees and such and sucked dick to make it famous. right

  • i like Mogwai, thats why i came here to listen to them but saying they are one of the best bands in the last 20 years is a bit absurd. Radiohead makes more sense but they still didn't have the impact that Nirvana did. Nirvana ended hair bands , you should have a little more respect for music other than the kind you like.

  • i feel your vibe man, but clearly as you can see, i hate mainstream music. its garbage and I blame nirvana

  • the mainstream music influenced by Nirvana was actually good music. Pearl Jam, Soundgarden etc. I agree the mainstream music now is mostly garbage.

  • @MrWobbleHead jep, that's them

  • @MrWobbleHead best? woah, you forgetting about godspeed

  • and MONO...

  • gotta love this kind of comments on a song like this =)

  • What's not sectarian about it? Not getting involved in an argument with you, though. You grotesquely, disgusting cretin. Bye bye

  • @Jibby1987

You have no argument that's why... love how i chackmated you with one comment!!... go listen to wet wet wet or something leave mogwai alone... not for your brand of human... i.e racist huns!!!... and a grotesque one at that

  • @fuckthehuns1 your very statment of "racist huns" in it's self is retarded as it is racist lol. Your name is racist unless you want to have sex with a family called the huns.

When there is a persecution due to race or descendency or religon it is racist/sect etc. If you cant get that go somewhere full of black ppl like africa and call them the "N" word and see what happens. or go to saudi and make fun of mohamhed. GAWD!!!!

  • @SuperGamerhell

A "Hun" is a nickname for a racist rangers fan... do you know what the word "sectarian" actually means? its about 2 different denominations of a religion who discriminate, and the last time i checked "Hun" wasnt a religion! so you're scraping the barrel and clutching at straws trying attach the word "hun" to racism and or sectarianism!.... so on your logic calling a Scotsman a "Jock" is racism?... stop insulting your own intelligence much less mines aswell

  • @Jibby1987 Tell em buddy!

  • this key unlocks my door

  • what key is this song in?

  • G Major,

The solo in the backround is is played on the g and b string on the 11th 13th and 15th fret...

  • 13 15 and 17 my mistake

  • perfect simple genius sounds

  • I come on here and it makes me cry. We can be all the same, we can all be friends, living and thriving. Building and rebuilding. Forgetting together. And yet we feel like we have to fight.

All we need now is no language, just sound.
