  • On the issue of this major rip-off, I don't see any concensus likely to arrive. People that like the candy ass pop music will simply defend him. And the radical geeks cracking up original music on obscure PC's and trackers will continue to be offended anytime they get ripped off.

Its crazy also how it is two racial & social worlds coliding in an explosion: Cool Black Hipsters VS Cerebral White Geeks.

  • I think he did not make it hotter, I like it raw and original, and almost all and popular music signers simply sing in such an annoying voice.

I know this is my subjective taste, but tune on to the radio and listen to all these annoying screaming girls with auto-tuned voices.

damn we are a long way from hearing Armatrading or something like that.

They should shut the singers up and go instrumentals. the signers have message-less lyrics anyways (shake you ass, get me good, WTF!!!!!)

  • I think I'm going to do a "Timbaland" on some old hip-hop beats of the 1970's...

  • Was that dope you werr smoking? haha, you're so mellow in this video I love it! You''re just telling it like it is, relaxed. "But, you know, whatever," great way to end it.

  • Yeah - its a difference betwwen sampling and total rip off :)

    Gadboa

  • Dr Dre did the same thing for many of the songs on the Chronic in 92 did anyone care ?

  • @BLAZINBEATS123 ... the difference there is that Dre credited the music he sampled and paid royalties on them. Timbalard did not. He has done this on more than one occasion.

  • @funkamentalist That's because Dre actually respects other musicians and Timbaland is just a money grubbing asshole.

  • it seems to me that only other DJ's and producers get a kick out of hearing a sample or a score re-worked into a rap song or a R&B track. Timberland is so talented this guy sounds so gullible, even though I know a sample from the original i'm still trying to finger out what he be grabbing for some this sickiest tracks I ever heard. I know he don't even sweat it do you even listen to him man.

  • @Divinecyphr Lol yeah man i listen to him. Everything by Tim you heard I probably own. I know a lil bit about production myself, and I agree he is very talented.

  • he's not soooo much of a great producer if he can't come up with his own shit........regardless of whether he made it hotter or not. And it dissapoints me too as a fan.

  • he just used the main melody and he changed the melody its not completly the same

  • all u have is an mpc now think about dat and think about wat ur sayin about "stealin" music and not adding anything to a sample

  • the last part was prophetic I know exactaly what you mean

  • this was pointless can i have my 1 minute and 27 seconds back please?

  • Comment removed

  • @Mwitamath Name the game!

  • Snooooooooop Dooooogggggggg

  • I agree kid.. I was laughing, cause, i already knew it, just was waiting for someone else to expose him, I make beats also, but what pisses me off is that he made millions but beat jacking...

  • Agree with almost everything you said. Not sure if he made it better because an older generation wouldn't think so. All he did was modernize the sound.

  • He didnt credit the original artist, end of story. Take any hip hop cd, dance music cd or pop record with a sample and it credits the original author. He didn't credit because it was an unknown song, that 99.9 percent of the population had never heard

  • timberlands a hoe, he a dope no more, everything we heard dat got him hot was sumbody elses music

  • Thanks for being sane, dude.

  • You're right. If he gave the credit to the originals he would've been getting just as much money and props. Timbaland let his ego get the best of him and tried to snake 100% credit for other heads' hard work.

  • you can tell you're a BUD-HEAD!!

"you know what im sayin" lol

  • Wow buddy you put a lot of effort into that gay ass comment did'nt you? You're a giant douche bag and your girlfriend is cheating on you.

  • You know what im sayin?

  • i totally agree with what ur saying.

its shocking how pretty much 90% of hip hop music is sampled too :/

  • I remember when I heared Big Pimpin' like 9 years ago, I immediatly recognized "Khosara".

  • this is real shitt. i've been a musician all my life and i know how i feel about the music i make, and for someone to go around and grab whatever he wants out of anyones bag is fuckin wackk, and to claim he's the mind behind that piece of genius is wackk. hes not a musician, hes a noise maker

  • I couldn't agree enough. It disappoints me as a Timbo fan and pisses me off as a musician. If you're gonna sample give credit or cash. Timbo's living the American dream at someone else's expense. Good video man. Peace.

  • totally agree ... man timbo should give the credit! he did make the songs hotter so he still is a genius, but damn outright just taking people shit not cool.

  • making the songs takes a genius

    putting drums on top doesnt

and making it sound fresher is done by fine tuning the sounds during the mixing and mastering processes which timbaland doesnt do (he leaves that to other people check his cd). so he didnt really do anything but put his drums on. he should get his ass sued for stealing someones work. imagine if it was yours? as a producer too i know id be pissed

  • man you took the words right out of my mouth watching this!!! man i was watching this video where he was making beats for jay z and i kinda stumbled on this whole buzz where timbaland took that dude from finlands music lol damn then i watched what he had to say about it and man he was such a dick and then i watched your video and i was like damn this dude is saying how everybody would have felt!

  • Thanks for tha feedback man. Peace!

  • wow exact same path except i also checked out the arabic music that he supposedly stole...and the iranian folksong...and that shit is exactly the same...what a shame

  • @catandmas thats the thing too eh. when confronted about it, he could AT LEAST TRY to be humble in his answers. I don't know what I am more shocked over....the fact that he jacked the beat or the fact that when confronted he was all like "You're a nobody and I am the king...how are u gonna call out the king?" Like who the fuck does he think he is....money and fame is fleeting Timbaland....keep this shit up and u will see ur downfall soon. Such a damn shame...and I am/was a huge fan of his.

  • I respect the shit out of this video!

  • Thank you, I appreciate it.

  • very true what this guy said

  • wow Kanye does it dumas. Name a producer that doesnt samples We all knew he sampled beats. Dr Dre sampled whole songs and didnt add shit to. TImbaland adds extra instruments and drums to and give a feel that u can rap to.

  • the real thing is just that timberland had be screw like a citrus for what i can himself create and know to take the money he take the work of the other musicians and put just is name on it.

it's just a question of money not of talent. the client he produces pay for his job and i just sell them something that is not his property .

    recel is also prohibited.

  • You are a perfect example of the media culture that cannot think for themselves and just go with whatever your bias or lazy mind wants to hear without actually looking into it and doing the research! It was NOT from a video game it was produced for the European Alternative Computer Demoscene for which incorporates graphics, music, art and animation on systems that require an extreme amount of talent to produce on due to the limited resources imposed which is the whole point of it. Arrogant prick

  • And he didn't just take samples!.. Don't you get it yet!?!?!.. fucking hell what the hell has happened to all you people!!?!??.. THINK!!.. HE USED THE WHOLE SONG!!!.. GET IT!!???????????.. DO YOOOOOU GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... When you sample, you use the sample to CREATE your own melody/tune but you DO NOT take an ENTIRE SONG and pass it off as your own without ASKING FIRST!!!!.

  • Even then, you'd still credit the song and give them royalities.

  • Aye mannnn, Puff Puff pass!!

  • Great video. Major respect to you for saying what I think a lot of Timbaland fans know is true, but are just not admitting to themselves...

  • 'Preciate that man..

  • Timbaland Is A Good Producer But Not The Best! A Message To You Timbaland! - Dont Shout About Youre The Best And Greatest, Because Youre Not! I Know The Best Producer Ever! And Youll See Him Soon!

  • What Timbaland did was not good, like you said, he, AT LEAST, should give Janne Suni (original composer) a little credit, or just write his name on the CD as the original composer! I heard from someone that Nelly asked for permission, but since this guy had NellyFurtado in his Username, I don´t think that I can trust his words! It´s really a shame that a producer like him can do something like that, it´s just not right!

  • Oh, I forgot, good Vid! :)

  • Thank you.

  • First of all I want to say I respect you for making this video mate.

Secondly, to all the people who don't seem to understand:

Timbaland STOLE a chunk of music, added a very basic drum loop over the top and called it his "original" ringtone.

So if I take someone else's composition and slap a processed drum beat over the top, I too can sell it as an ORIGINAL ringtone?

Better yet, why don't we all take a chorus of a beatles' song, fatten up the beat and sell it as an original ringtone?

  • Thanx....

  • look m8 u r not seriouse timbo is king at beats so what if e sampled

  • Timbaland didn't SAMPLE. He stole entire lines from an exsisting song. How would you feel if he did it to you, no credit, no money for all your hard work?

  • What are you one of Timbalands little hoes or somethin? He should put you on the stroll and make some extra beer money bitch!! Eat a cock wit herpes on top jackass asshole...and god bless!

  • Oh, wow. Your computer has spellcheck right? Fucking use it you retarded ape.

  • Timbaland groupies..worse than animefangirls.

  • LOL... There is so much truth in your comment that its frightening!

  • thanks

  • what tim did was wrong!

    not cool

  • "Complete shark JAW part 3 biting" WoW I was laughing for a while about that.Thats real true man real true.

  • The original musician has probably not received a penny for that song aside from winning a contest back in 2000.

Big name producers should be helping the little guys get out, not just rip off their shit and carry on with life. This kind of behaviour makes me feel ZERO sympathy for musicians who get their work pirated all over the internet.

  • Its likely that tempest never recieved any money after winning that contest either. Many tracking 'compos' are for bragging rights, not money

  • Thanx for the input ya'll. Input.....Input!!!!

Lol! Anybody know where that's from?

  • Nice comment! I agree with you man, he should have handled it a little better, given a nod to the dudes that did the original track...

  • and paid hiim royalties!

  • Glad to see a Timbaland fan who is being honest.

  • i totally agree!!!

  • Hey don't smoke. I know it's a stressful situation but you need to do that. lol. Timbaland sucks. If you like Timbaland then you like all the artists that he steals from.

  • to all you suckas go listen to P.E. - Caught, Can I get A Witness,...."stole" or "copyright" my ass,.."SET HIP HOP FREE" - a rebel with a raised fist....

  • I know about P.E. man. I met Pro. Griff personally here in the A. Chilled wit him at his crib, looked at the P.E. plaques on his wall, talked about the state of hip-hop AND got drums and sounds from him wit the logo on the disk. I could probably sell them shits on EBay but I use them muthafuckas.

  • Yeah,..Chuck and Flav with one the best producers ever Bombsquad. you be able to use them he aint going to sue because of copyright issues hahaha..

  • Yeah no doubt! I loved their sound. I Would never try to recreate it though. I just like thick drums and hard snares lol!

  • Caught, now in court 'cause I stole a beat This is a sampling sport But I'm giving it a new name What you hear is mine P.E. you know the time Now, what in the heaven does a jury know about hell If I took it, but but they just look at me Like, Hey I'm on a mission I'm talkin' 'bout conditions Ain't right sittin' like dynamite Gonna blow you up and it just might Blow up the bench and Judge, the courtroom plus I gotta mention This court is dismissed when I grab the mike yo flav?
  • Well said

  • Oh my god! How are you on every one of these videos?!?! Get a life!

  • youre an idiot! and a racist apparently. Timbalame STOLE a piece of music made for and loved by a whole movement of computerartists. Timberlands talent, as with most other hiphop artists is limited to theft and a punkass attitude.

  • Did he sampled from a KEYGEN song ? Why would he need a KEYGEN ? Does this mean he is using illegal software ?

Or is this a joke of yours ?

  • What did you smoke, DZMPLZ?

  • It doesn't matter what you call it. Sampling without paying for the sample is illegal and stealing. It has nothing to do with how much better it sounds as his version, what matters is that he stole the melody that creates the whole song.

  • All Hip Hop IS, Is Sampling ? LMAO, give credits to a song that was downloaded on Kazaa under a Commodore download link ? The kid's name wasn't even on the file. So "sampling" a video game, isnt against the law, becuase that particular interpolation of the game, wasnt copyrighted. If it were, then the finnish kid WOULDNT get a check anyway, hence both being from an original game to begin with. Shoot i sampled that game, does Timbo owe me money too ? Nah commodore should be the one complaining

  • Man.....I am not on some fuck Timbaland shit but yo! I just feel that his genius is different than I thought. I aint mad at him, I mean he still gave us plenty of hot shit wit the early Missy and all that but yo besides his drums he DOES just copy and paste for the most part and takes FULL credit! Well until he started messin wit Danja who's dope too. Now I dont know who be doin the tracks Danja or Tim lol!

  • u sound like a good kid but people been doing this since the sixties..its like paying homage to the other artist...

4 example bob dylan wrote "all along the watchtower" and jimi hendrix completly took the lyrics and added their own sound.

  • thst great 4 music.....before u make judgements look up other artist thats done the same thing..and dont listen to youtube kids they dont know what theyre talking about..

  • I hear you man, but dont you have to acknowledge the artist to be paying homage to them? And I'm not judging Tim because I know industry rule #4080 so I'm sure he aint the only one. Plus I've made it clear that am a fan regardless,I'm just.....I dont know slightly dissapointed but I mean I still look forward to hearin what new stuff he might be workin on ya know?

  • He didn't just steal some song from some video game, the original track "Acidjazzed Evening" was an original composition created entirely by Finnish musician "Tempest", and has never been in any video game. Timbaland took this song and turned it into a ringtone as well as the song "Do It", completely stealing the entire written score and chord structure. This action was illegal, Timbaland has acknowledged it, and he is currently working with Tempest to work on a legal agreement to compensate him

  • at the end Timbaland makes the money

  • you're 100 percent right ..fact he stole the song .and didn't gave any credit ..Now he's gonnan fight out in court ...gues who'll win ? Right those with the cash

  • You make a valuable point

  • Thanx....

  • Yo DirtyMoney23, these people act like they shoulda got paid or sumthin, right.

  • Ok, how do you know he didnt give any credit to anybody, were you there when the contract was written up, probably not

  • true brother! difference between sampling and stealing! Wonder how many others hes rippd!

  • Also funny how all you Mickey Mouse sounding people talk about "he don't even do his shit anymore, he got people" you're damn right he got people.. he just needs to give the main idea and direct a project.. thats the level his in now.. so yall stop crying about a sampled song that was made public.

  • ok to all of you dropping your 2 cents on the table i got a few words for you all.. TELL KANYE TO RETURN HIS GRAMMYS. Like wtf? you're all now going to complaint about Hiphop being sampled?.. whether is singleshot or a 4 measure melody it is still a sample.like come on.. HipHop is based on sampling since it started. it doesn't matter if is single hit or loops is still a sample. Maybe if timbo would had streched it and pitched yall wouldn't be saying shit now.

  • good point wonder if anyone got sum dirt on any other producers

  • Nice response dude. Got some good points.

  • Thanks homie.

  • Interesting point......You may live.

  • video game tunes have composers too, they didn't just come out of thin air. Dumbass.

  • it wasn't from a video game dipshit. there is a culture in europe called the demoscene where musicians write ORIGINAL music using old computers or old tracker software..

  • You take a brain from video game,... Use google: "Tempest/damage" commodore scene c64. Fill your empty spaces uder skull with knowledge about topic.

  • Dirt of ya shoulder was an original by jayz

  • I really like that you like him and still can accept that he did something wrong, alot of people haven't been able to do that... they still defend him and say he was actually right!

  • Fa sho Jessie Jess!

  • its a shame pointblank... not the sampling part but how cats dont give credits 2 the original producer of the song... and timbo is rich from this... its the american way

  • timbascam ,, a credit to the original writer at least, there is no need to pretend he has created it, or is he frightened that people will discover he doesnt even produce half his material, it is done by his employee engineers and programmers, he just shows up for the cameras.

  • timbaland very stupid person

    And foolish

Listen to his old songs and his new songs

    Find rapid development

    How so?

    by Theft !

    timbaland big loosssser

  • Maybe you should check the video of the Arabic music Timbaland stole as well. Maybe your opinion would change.

I mean I USED to think that Timbaland was the best guy in the biz, but I was wrong. He is nothing but a shark.

  • Yeah man I have since seen all those too. I dont even know what to say. Let me say AGAIN that I am not on a anti Timbaland campaign but...Ill just say that I'm not as blown away by him like I used to be. Like I figured out his formula and I'm not sure I wanted to. Still cant say I'm not a fan though. That's hard.

  • Well Tim was NEVER that creative all he did was steal a song sample and put an electronic drum beat on top of it.

But I know there is some people I cant stop liking even though they are fraudulent and theifs

  • You know, man, you know what I'm sayin? You know, you say you know a lot, you know? You know?

  • .......Nah man do you know what im sayin? You know....well fuck it nevermind. Lickballs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • To CaptinPlanit...are you questioning my knowledge on this music shit??? HA!!!!! DONT MAKE ME FUCKING LAUGH MORTAL!!!!! Not only do I own everything you mentioned, but I can also clearly recall all those artists listing most if not all sample credits on their liner notes. Me personally that's one of the first things I check for when I get new shit. Who's on the beats....

  • Yes please enlighten me kraldaly! Like. I. Said. I think what he did with it is great. I love it. I OWN it. BUT!! He should have gave some credit to the little guy because he didnt just chop up and work the sample, he cut and pasted the whole melody!! If it was vice versa the 8-bit guy woulda been sued like a mothafucka!

  • you have no idea how it works do you. maybe i should school you up

  • Do you listen to Wu-Tang? Do you listen to Tribe Called Quest? Do you listen to old Boot Camp Click shit? How about some of Dilla's shit?

Did you cry when they failed to mention their sampled sources because they managed to avoid clearance issues? Did you complain because some of their biggest hits are just drums on top of catchy loops?

Quit moaning. That song works wonders in the club. Why? Because as you said, Timbaland made it hotter. So be thankful for that.

  • but you do know they clear their sample?

obviously not if your making so much comments. ALSO the fact that so much of tim's tune is ripped off, the melody (notation) + sampling (grg's version of it). get informed.

  • Plenty of people avoided sample clearance, even if they used straight loops. DJ Shadow only cleared 6 samples for Entroducing. Wu-Tang cleared less than half their samples between 93 and 97. A lot of classic songs are based on straight loops, like "Daytona 500", "Mass Appeal", "Can't Lose", etc.

If it weren't for YouTube, people would not make nearly as big of a deal about this. Instead, we get treated to scathing video blog responses.

  • CaptinPlanit,it would be big news regardless,.Kernkraft did the same years back with lazy jones except that was in a game, they were forced to pay up.Not clearing samples is playing with fire.prime example is blueboy -remember me.A lot of clearence is done behind the scene also, but it's known Janne Sunni never gave permission/was asked. Tim isn't short of money, common sense would be to pay BEFORE release, but it just shows he is greedy and likes telling "stories"

  • Marketing an artists work, and signing your name to it, are two different things, and in either case, the rightful artist needs to be compensated (Paid real money). Respect yourself, by respecting others!

    Lyon Danebridge - on YouTube

  • If, as some of the comments suggest, that,Timbaland is a great artist, or in the least,an artist, then why not write and create your own art? Why borrow (steal)another artists work?

It is blatant and obvious what has been done here by Timbaland, and this is not the first time- JUST STOP IT! Put that energy into creating your own ART!

    Lyon Danebridge - on YouTube

  • Think of the amount of work that the Finnish composer put into composing that song.

Now think of the amount of work that Timbaland put into pasting a beat over the top of it.

And NOW think of who got the most money from it? I have zero respect for Timbaland.

  • true, but this video would last 30 seconds without all the "uhm, you know, know what i mean? what ever" crap.

    Saludos

  • Whatever dickmouth! Know what I mean?

  • nope uhm, i don't know what you mean, know what i mean? you know.. actually.. uhm.. you know.

uhm, best, you know, regards, know what i mean?

  • lol! Same to you.....uhm,know what I mean?

  • yeah, uhm, i'm like, sure, now i know what you mean, uhm, yeah like, uhm, know what i mean?

bye, yeah, uhm like, that you know?

  • yeh, eehm, idiots, or w/e the fuck i mean...

  • you're all right! timbaland is still top but he stole the tune. that wasn't cool

  • i know what you talkin about. but, tim produced the song and then the song came to the top! i always hear the do it songs and it really is hot song. but, stealing is wrong. but, without acidjazzed evening, nelly's song would never been produced

  • it came to the top because timbaland was already known. Acidjazzed was good before Timbaland fucked with it.

  • More information:

    timbalandtempest.ytmnd(dot)com

  • He didn't get the copyright. He never even contacted the person who made it. He stole it, note for note, instrument for instrument. He's a thief. Nothing but a petty thief.

  • Is dat weed?

  • I think he got just a little too arrogant and simply thought that no one would even challenge him, but karma is a bitch!

  • shark jaw biting..like it.hehe , he made the song doper..its not a lot of talent to add a kick/snare and convert it to midi also. It's was calculated, and because SO MUCH of Janne's tune is DO IT, he should get a BIG chunk, fairs fair.

  • Do you even know what you're talkin about?

  • he never did FACT, listen to his interview on "idiot in the morning" errr sorry correction, "elliot in the morning" ;-) he incriminates himself even moreso, but then to add more lies to the subject and knowingly mislead fans who put him where he was, is even worse. it's not from a game either, he made matters FAR worse for himself instead of fessing up.

  • Me personally, I think Timbaland has got to be up there with the best of them, if not the best. I mean he use's live instrumentation on his records and has installed a new sound in hip-hop introducing ethnic/ foreign sounds. Plus, he doesn't like to stay in his comfort zone, as Shock Value has shown. The range and variety of music is great. Fall out boy, Elton John, Dr.Dre & Missy etc

  • Yeah, I been listenin to Shock Value a lot lately, and I do love the fact that he chose to not follow the current trend of wackness that is most of hip-hop right now. Good music. I like Fall out boy too. Dance Dance!!LOL!! Love that song!

  • got nothing to do with it, he jacked a tune.. then didn't pay the guy.. not just jacked.. pretty much ripped off the whole song.. someone should tell his a** about "beat club" or should that be "bite club". hypocrital theif that he is.

  • How the hell you know he didn't pay the guy? how do you know he didn't pay royalties? Are you his accountant? Stop whining and do something prodcutive. go do a pushup or something

  • I know for a fact it wasn't paid for . TIM admitted it himself on a radio interview and was rude/abusive and lied (great interview tim, your lawyers must be very happy with u.lol) . So perhaps do some research instead of insulting me ;-)

  • The industrial underground scene is where this started in the early 90's, and if you want to see someone for whom used all the shit you mention as far ethnic/foreign influences, look no further than Iceland's Bjork. When it comes to many of the sounds Timbaland uses, he also takes a lot from the underground 80's and 90's computer/synth scene of that time such as the influence of the 1982 computer system the Commodore 64. Timbaland is a class A thief and i have Zero respect for the man.

  • Oh yeah i got a question. You look like you know a lot about producer's and junk (with your name being 'beatkidmindstate'). I wanna know what the hype is around J Dilla. I've heard his stuff and everyone say's he was the greatest but i don't get it, like every track is sample based. Can you or anyone else help me understand why he's hyped up so much.

  • Ok. Good question.....I'll be real and admit that I dont like EVERYTHING that Dilla has done BUT!!!! People like myself love Dilla I think because he played a large part in A LOT of albums that we consider classic. I dont know man.....No one else has that "sound" He was obsessed with music. To the point where I think it played a role in his declining health. Sorry man I cant really explain. But he is NOT overrated. He is one of the best that ever did it. EVER!

  • Oh and he did play actual instruments too.

  • Yeah, man i agree with you totally me myself am a BIG Timbaland fan. But, i've not lost respect for the guy because he's a living legend. But, like you said from now on if it's a hot track i'm always gonna be wondering was all this done by Timbo.

  • Wow!! :) This is the first time I think a fan of Timbaland is agreeing that a bit of wrong doing was done. Great for you!!!

If Timbaland had done this to lets say the Rolling Stones or any other very well known band he wouldn't have gotten away with it. But because this was done by someone who is not a mega star and lives across the ocean, he thought it makes it ok.

  • Thanks for your insight and opinion. Much appreciated.

  • Not a problem.

One good thing out of this, people will be a bit more aware about copyright issues and giving credit where credit is due. :)

  • helloooo this is hip-hop. People do this all the time.

Dr.dre (eminem) just listnen to the song : Labi Siffre - I got the (Blues). Or better yet : David Mccallum - The Edge (you all know this song).

  • I agree. But again I didnt have a concern with him sampling I just thought he should have gave credit to who he borrowed from. If that musician was someone big here that we know, Tim would have to pay up something, I put money on it. But he is still a musical genius and I am still a fan regardless.

  • could u be more explicit? which song of dre and eminem or dre feat eminem..i dont undersand you..it's made after labi siffre - i got the? or teh second song you called.try to be more clear when you write sumthin :)

  • Best are Dre, Storch, Timbaland, Pharrell

  • Don't forget about Dilla and Preemo now

  • agreed.
