People have always been talking about how jazz ruined good music, how rock and roll destroyed our national innocence, how rap music killed Grandma, etc. Not saying you have to get down with SongSmith, but saying it's gonna "ruin the industry" is a bit much.

@ipalindromei asw an active audio engineer and a musician I can say that a program that you can hum into and a song magically is created will replace session musicians, in stead of hiring a choir i use melodine, i put 30 people out of business with a program. this will evolve into non midi tracks and you wont have take any actual talent, sing a song into that and then auto tune your voice and vwala you have a hit pop track for under a hundred bucks!

it's an integrity thing. you don't have to work at making music anymore if you just hum a jingle into a mic and there is a song as a result, then where is the passion, where is the dedication ! where is the years of practice and talent, where is the music? it's bad enough that people already thing poker face is a song we loose music this way. just like we loose the meaning of a conversation and interaction thru texting

I will reiterate that technology and culture changes, and there ain't no stopping it. You can influence it when you can (like, for example, by telling everyone that a new product is evil and the old way is better) but it's just way too huge and too fast to stop. I'm not saying SongSmith is good or bad, but what would you suggest? Banning it?
