  • Dude you're annoying when moving the camera back and forth all the time.

  • im so gonna try this!!!!! i already got the drivers/ there on piratebay lol

  • My issue is that the only printer I have access to that can do this is extremely far away from me. Like, an hour drive. That would make the trial and error thing pretty difficult. Is there any way else I could ensure I'm getting everything right?

  • @xalener One way to do this is to create one sheet with 5, or even 10 different patterns on it. You can do some math to get in the ball park, and then make a few different sheets with a range of patterns. That way you can test like 30 patterns at one. You will still need trial and error, but it will be faster.

  • if you move your head with the game images in this video it makes it 3d g i wonder how complicated it could really be to get 3d hold on let me make some red and blue lines on some transparent sheets set them against my screen and connect them to my vibrator

  • Yaa i'm having trouble playing my games on my actual 3DTV without being blown away. Can anyone help? LOL!!!!!!

  • Great job explaining the process and technology!

  • Can a program be made to make the monitor automatically switch to parallax?

  • @luisbalderas I am using the IZ3D driver for this. It will let you play just about any PC game in 3D with this mod. I can also watch 3D videos with the Stereoscopic Player. The mode is called "vertical interleaved".

  • NICE !!! Make viedo and show how to make thes filter.

  • hey what version of photoshop did you use? bcuz i have the newest

  • @7704warlock I was using CS3, but really any version should work.

  • @cybereality alrite man tnx i just need help creating the barrier

  • @cybereality alrite man tnx i just need help creating the barrier

  • 5:43 to skip to how to do it, and doesn't even tell you how. Just click the link, save yourself the time.

  • 5:43 skip to how to make it.

  • Can you make a video showing exactly how to create the barrier. I tried following your m.t.b.s direction but it seems i missing something which i have no clue of what it could be.

I used gimp and photo shop lite and read over the instruction about ten times or more and still can not create the barrier. P.S , I have never used any image manipulation program out side of paint.

I have been reading that fourm off and on for about 3 months now and i thought i was ready to finally give it a try.

  • @SplinterCraig Sorry you had trouble with this. I realize the instructions were a little difficult. I am going to try to come up with an easier solution, with more detailed instructions in the video. Not sure when I will have that finished, but I will be sure to send you a message when I do.

  • Where i can buy this? And then when i have the parallax and i put in the screen what program allow me to see right and left 3d film in this way? I mean the 3d film has two seperate image left and right how can i combine them?

  • @androydITA Right now it is not for sale. I may sell them in the future. To watch videos with this you would use the Stereoscopic Player. I tested that and it worked using the vertical interleaved mode.

  • Comment removed

  • @cybereality Thanks man can you send an email at androyd@live.it when you sell this? Thanks for all ;)

  • Are you a kindergarten teacher?

  • @lazzer408 No, but I should be since I'm schooling your ass.

  • i have 17" and 19", will it work??

  • @Tovicladiesmen777 Yes, it can work on those sizes. I did it with a 22" monitor.

  • when i first looked at the title i was like "title fail!" but then i saw the description and video and i was like "nevermind, EPIC WIN!!!"

  • wow,you really did it, great job!!!

  • I have an idea to perfect it:

Instead of having a Verticle Pattern, you could try a Checkerboard Pattern, thus making the image a bit more even in terms of resolution.

  • I wish the instructions weren't so complicated.

I also wish I knew the exact size of my screen. I have two screens, one has has an Aspect Ratio of 16:10 and a resolution of 1680 x 1050, and the other has an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a resolution of 1366 x 768

  • @Amaroqdricaldari My 1366 x 768 Laptop is an Inspiron 1545, and my 1680 x 1050 Monitor (that I am using for my desktop) is a Dell E228WFP

  • So.....I'm a huge fan of 3D. But...not with glasses. I can't wait till technology gives us one daya TV display with the same quality of a glasses3D display but without the glasses. I tried the Nintendo 3DS yesterday and the EVO 3D and while not perfect, the 3D looks soooo great and fun without glasses!

  • @9ALLEN9 Well this DIY project does not look as good as the Nintendo 3DS, even though it uses the same principle. I agree that the 3D on those glasses-free displays does look really nice and has a different quality since you don't wear glasses. But right now those only really work for a single viewer, it would not be practical to make an HDTV like that, or a movie theater, for example. However, I am sure that day will come sometime in the future.

  • I really need help to complete the photoshop part, I don't know how to create the pattern, can you help me out?

  • @coccoborg If you ask in the MTBS forums, I can help you easier. See the link to the thread in the YouTube description for this video.

  • Found you! I read your post on the Nviidia Forums

Don't forget to film this in 3D

  • @Amaroqdricaldari I did film in 3D. I have photos and videos. Check the links in the description.

  • @cybereality I meant for this video. You have two videos with the same title that are in 3D, but they are just demonstration videos and a slide show, not the instruction video. I was hoping that you could film this video itself in 3D.

  • @Amaroqdricaldari I am going to do a new version of this video, with an updated method that is much easier. So I guess I will film that one in 3D. The idea was that people without 3D monitors or glasses could more easily watch a 2D video. However it makes sense just to do it in 3D.

  • @cybereality Afterall, for 3D YouTube Videos, you have the option to turn off the 3D. That way, even though I lack 3D Glasses, I always prefer to watch the 3D Version of a video when there is one available. Usually because 3D Videos have higher resolutions.

  • Can someone tell me where i can print off a sheet for the barrier. ive got the transparent film, so can someone send me or tell me where to get a printing sheet of the parralax barrier.

  • @TheFinco1001 You will need to have either an inkjet or laser printer that can do 1200dpi or above. Most print shops seem to only support 600dpi, which is probably not enough for this project. Ideally you would have the printer to do it yourself. However, its possible you may be able to find a local printer than could do it for you, but you would have to print a number of testing patterns before you found the right one.

  • i was talking with my freindand he said the 3d Goes inward with the the glassesless 3D effect is this true?

  • @yes1sir1no1sir Any type of 3D, whether it has glasses or not, can go both inside and outside of the screen. However there is a limited amount of distance that an object can come out of the screen and still be able to focus on it. For a 22" screen that is about 6 inches max. However it can go into the screen further than that.

  • I have a 3DS and it is really good 3D trust me!!

  • I am SO gonna do it. This is awesome!

  • so thats how 3d works. hmm, thanks!!! so does that mean that one eyed people cant watch 3d? or is there a type of 3d that works for eyed people?

  • @AustinSaysRAWR one eyed*

  • @AustinSaysRAWR That is correct. People with only one eye cannot perceive 3D in the way fully sighted people can. They may still have a sense of depth, due to other sorts of depth cues, but they cannot experience stereo 3D in the traditional sense (ie for 3D games or movies). Even people with 2 eyes may have certain conditions (like amblyopia) which makes them unable to see in 3D. Some reports say that anywhere between 2% and 5% of the world may not be able to view in 3D.

  • @cybereality thanks dude!

  • LOL the mtbs 3d logo is a SINGLE eye!!! lol

  • This "sitting still" is the most dangerous thing for any human. It's blocking the normal life of your muscles (in eyes too) and leads to many illnesses. It's not like - you try and you'll immediately get these bad things but it's dangerous b'coz you'll not notice a start of this.

Of course you'll spent a lot more than 5$ to "fix" a part of this later.

Believe me that the effects of "another reality" are achieveable more with controlling of the screen content movement then with just stereo pairs

  • Guys'n'Girls - the reality is...

    1. it's not 3D actually (ok it's not harming anyone)

    2. I'm almost sure that you'll get more exciting experience while using middle-cost head-trackers (I mean that simple thing with a marker on your head and not that hi-end and expensive trackers) WITHOUT stereo-image.

    3. MOST IMPORTANT - you'll get a real ASS PAIN (it's not LOL), PAIN IN YOUR BACK and PAIN IN EYES (with further real harming to your precious vision).

Now I'll explain (if it's not clear to you)

  • @MoolahNasreddin Go try out the Nintendo 3DS when it comes out next week and come back and tell me if you still feel the same about this.

  • @cybereality

I'll buy it for it's screen and for the faster CPU... when it will be in my region (and R4 for this of course).

I'm not blaming you but I'm talking about serious things. The static stress for muscles is not a joke.

  • @MoolahNasreddin

    1) For all your eyes and brain are concerned, it IS 3D.

    2) Personally, I feel sick if I play a monoscopic game with a head tracker, while I feel absolutely immersed in the game if I play it in stereoscopy, even with no head trackers whatsoever

    3) No matter how hard you look at something, it cannot give you literal pain in your ass and back. With the 3DS, sometimes I feel like I have to make a conscious effort to focus real objects after playing, but no pain in my eyes.

  • hi again mate, ive got a question. im about to buy a printer. its a "CANON PIXMA IP3600 INKJET PHOTO PRINTER" now its a photo printer but with 9600x2400 res so its 2400dpi, even though its a photoprinter and it can still print a4 size, would it be suitable to print out transparent films? thanks.

  • @xivlia No, that printer will probably not work. It only has a 600dpi black print resolution, which is lower than what we need. That crazy 9600 x 2400 value is for the color (since they count each color component of CMYK as one dot). It is ideal if you can find a printer that can do 1200dpi or above for black printing. Of course a wide-format printer is better, but with standard paper sizes you will just need to attach several sheets together, which I have done and its OK.

  • Clever. Similar to what some others have done with high resolution phone displays which I can attest to really does work. But like any cheap hack clearly this is not going to be as good as the real thing. An LCD parallax barrier which switches back and forth eliminates the appearance of lines and results in an overall brighter image. An LCD is also adjustable where as this is not. Obviously major limitations with this "getto 3D" approach but still quite fun to play around with.

  • @coasterpro Yeah, I admit this is something of a hack. Certainly it does not match real 3D monitors, or even consumer level auto-stereo displays like on the Nintendo 3DS. But it is better than other cheap solutions, like red/cyan anaglyph, plus you don't have to wear glasses. If I could build an active parallax barrier (using a monochrome LCD panel, for example) then I would have a lot more to work with. With a static print-out there are limitations. It still looks OK, though.

  • Can I buy it somewhere? I don't have appropriate printer:(

  • @EwelinkaMedolinska I am considering selling pre-made kits, but there are a few things that I need to figure out before this can happen. I will let you know if they become available.

  • Cybereality, i need some help, i bought some asetate sheets and i printed a parallax barrier on it, but the ink will not dry, everytime i touch the sheet the lines get smudged all over the damn sheets is there some special printer needed for this or what? thanks.

  • @xivlia I haven't worked with Acetate sheets. They seem similar but I don't think they are exactly the same as "transparency film", which is what I use. You need to make sure you buy either "Inkjet Transparency Film" or "Laser Transparency Film" which are specially made to be printed with desktop printers (obviously buy the kind for your type of printer). Sparco is a good brand.

  • @cybereality hmm okay, i just bought some cheap crap from ebay haha just to try it out, but the ink never dried. so il buy some of that sparco stuff :) thanks.

  • if you watch in 3d glasses-free after 30mins and you will start headache .

  • @ExtinctOfKageShi Well if you are not experienced using 3D then you may get a headache, sure. But if you have been using it for a while then its not a problem. I have had 3 hour (or longer) gaming session in 3D with no ill-effects at all. Whether you have to wear 3D glasses or glasses-free does not make a difference.

  • I was reading about how to make the barrier, and it occurs to me that if someone made a test sheet with a bunch of different dpi measurements, all you would have to do is print one of those and hold it up to your monitor against an image of alternating lines. Then, you wouldn't need all of that trial and error. If I had the equipment to print them, I would make the test pattern images myself (one for screen, one for transparency). Print at 100% and be done with it.

  • @reallybigname Yes, this is part of what I did in my experimentation. I would print sheets with 2" high rows of the pattern, so I could get 5 different patterns on one sheet (which saves ink and paper). And I had to print probably like 40 or 50 test sheets before finding the right one. Some of these were full page, but a lot of them had multiple patterns. So its still over 100 different attempts. And thats just for my monitor, every monitor is different. I doubt one sheet could cover everything.

  • What about the ghosting /w your homemade barrier ? Thanks for your post by the way :)

  • @thereisnomouse There is some ghosting, but its not so bad. I would say its around 15-20% in the worst case, and in the best case its not noticeable at all. So there is still probably more ghosting than with a commercial solution, but its certainly playable the way it is. If you watch some of the 3D footage I posted you will get a better feel for the ghosting levels (see the video info).

  • @cybereality Fast reply wow thanks ! In deed, to get 15-20% of ghosting with à 5$ glasses-free solution is amazing. I've seen your stereo footage and I'll definitely try this.

  • clever man

  • liked.

  • wow, nice!

  • Congratulations! Your hard work looks like it payed off! :D

  • this is not red/cyan.

    glasses not needed

  • lol cheap red and cyan type of 3d, you know the 3ds already has problems with hurting peoples vision making them blind? Gotta love fake 3d

  • @Xainlrd

    Where did you hear that?

Nintendo stated that the 3D display of the 3DS MIGHT be harmful to children under 7.

I'm pretty sure they never used the word "blind", I'd like to be proven wrong though.

  • @SteffSoft 3D in GENERAL can harm people eyesight, but it can't make anyone blind. 3D is good in ways too because there is the rare chance that it can heal your eyesight.

  • this is never high quality 3D and nothing with 3D Vision result.....

  • This is really clever.

    Well done Cybereality !

  • This works better than expected !

    Gratz Cybereality!

  • Brilliant mate well done. Great to see your theory come to fruition truly DIY style so effectively.
