OMG do I miss Rocky Point and that ride. So many great memories growing up. We talk about that place all the time. But does anyone know WHERE is the cork screw? I don't think they mentioned where they moved it in the video.
I can still feel that feeling in my stomach right before it goes upside down. Thank you for the ride down memory lane....Wish my kids could have experienced the Rocky Point that I got to experience....
I loved that Roller Coaster when I was a kid.. This is sad to watch ='[ I'll never forget driving into the parking lot with my parents and friends and hearing that noise when the cars pulled to the top... right before it starts.... It feels like this was ripped away from us...
great post i live 3000 miles away in las vegas nv,i spent lots of time at rocky point park i own the skydiver sign and car from the park (see my video on here too) keep memories of the park alive, sign and car can be seen in vegas so if you are comming to visit nevada come see the sign e mail ahead for appointment
@Radomid@Radomid Rocky Point closed down due to corruption and mismanagement of funds (typical or RI) however there is an excellent documentary called "You Must Be This Tall" produced by a native Rhode Islander that goes into detail of Rocky Point Park, I highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it.
o i miss this ride and all the others..wishing rocky point was still here with us in rhode island. i worked there and im so digusted they tore it down.. should have a smaller version of six flag's take land and rebuild a new park
OMG! I miss this freakin' Ride!!! It was the very first "Upside Down" Roller coaster I ever rode!!!!! It was 75 cents extra for each ride....but it was worth it!!!!! WE NEED THIS BACK!!!!!
god knows that ride didn't go for less then a million to 2 million at auction I bet the shipping cost was a bitch though I bet that probably cost another million so I'd guess in total the coaster cost to wild waves would have been 8 million also if ya wanted to include the construction too
Wow that takes me back. What happened to RI anyway? I feel guilty the kids today are missing the fun of Rocky Point. Maybe they will have great memories of Twin River instead.
Oh man......hard to watch that Vid if you grew up in RI....couldn't finish watching. Memories of when my Dad and Uncle were still alive would take us every summer.......Rocky Point you will be missed.
this was my brothers first ever coaster ride. we started going to rocky point when we were babies. i'm 38 now. brings back memories. glad to see she's still up and running! : )
I am now 40 and live in FL. I use to love that park when I was younger. I use to take dates there and my nephew all the time. Was a shame what the owner let happen to that state landmark. Does anyone actually know where the Corkscrew went?
I got to go on the very first run of that coaster (under construction) when I was working there during high school!! We even got old Conrad Ferla and Dave Cascioli on it. That brings back a lot of memories!
I can remember they used to actually make you pay extra to go on this. I'm glad it found a new home. I spent many summers at this place and even had my junior prom at the Palladium.

This rollercoaster is so little and slow wow this ride isnt scary one bit cant believe ppl waste thier time on this no offense but try other theme parks like busch gardens
that was the first rollar coaster i ever went on too.. i'm pretty sure i was like 3 when i went on it cause my dad made me but it was amazing. i have been obsessed with rollar coasters ever since.. where is it now i'd love to go ride it again!
wow, im glad to see its still up and running. this was my first roller coaster i've ever rode, i was dragged on it by my mom when i was 4. 75 cents to ride it lol. and i was sad to see it close when i was 15. great video man.....
Better to be in Seattle Washington than rusting on some scrap heap. I, for one, am happy that the Corkscrew is still being used and enjoyed. And for those of you who think it's "boring"- you are so wrong!
Oh, I remember the click, click, click sound as the cars went up that first hill...that was such an awesome ride for such a small amusement park- I'm so glad it got a good home where people can still enjoy it. Thanks for the memories! Great job!
Rocky Point, RI- the original and still the best - RI misses you!
Wow Its cool to know it wasn't sent to the scrap heap, I remember I went there a few times before it closed when I was a little kid and rode it I must have been just at the height requirement or something but man it brings back memories. Also I got to go when they opened it up again for a short time as a farewell thing and I remember how that other coaster was missing and other things had already been sold off or taken down. So where is located now?
wow, so that's the one from Rocky Point Park huh? My dad used to work there. Infact, he used to repair that ride! LOt's of memories. Thanks for putting that out there!!
*sigh* rocky point i never really got to go there couse i was like 3 when it closed down but i got to go only couse my sister had a job there and we would sometimes go while she worked! *sigh* memorys
rocky point was my first job ever. i remember when they first got this ride they made you pay an extra dollar to get on the corkscrew because it was so expensive. I am glad to see it is still running good. The platform where this ride stood still is standing at rocky point in ri and is in excellent shape. But i am sure it will be torn down soon.
