  • mine warpped you think reflowing like this might help it

  • Great vid man I am going to get all the supplies and follow your tutorials thanks again I hope to get my game back my PS3 ate it >:O0 :{ :} :{ >: )

  • where did you get the all thread? cant find it anywhere

  • @zcm87 I got mine at Lowes.

  • freaking genius

  • Like the Xbox got RROD and PS3 got YLOD, Wii got WITOD...Wiimote In Tv Of Death

  • great vid! can you give me the dimensions of ps3 motherboard "fat"

  • @elcheapouno Thanks.

I don't know them off the top of my head, but the next time I take my PS3 apart I'll be sure to get the dimensions for you.

Do you want the dimensions of the board itself or the screw holes, or both?

  • @djwhetzel both would be great, thanx! =)

  • This works really good, I made one my self too.

  • nice method dude, what kind the plate did you use

  • Good video man! I may have to do this the next time I get the YLOD on my PS3. Thanks for sharing!

  • In your other video you showed pre heating both sides. Using this jig would you still try to heat from the bottom as well as the top before concentrating the heat? Thanks

  • @mrttou Nope.

If you use a jig like this, there is no reason to pre-heat both sides of the board.

  • @djwhetzel I see. I thought that heating both sides had another purpose. Thanks

  • i'd love to know what size / gauge allthread you used for this. i need to make one of these myself for xbox and ps3 but i plan on making two for each so i can mount the board upside down on the second jig to flow ram chips etc but only place here in the uk i can find allthread is online but thats no good for determining size. any help would be a blessing

  • @taffowst I'm sorry. I should have put that in the description.

I actually used two different sizes of all thread. I used 1/8" for the smaller holes around the outside of the board and I used 5/32" for the larger sized holes around the processors.

1/8" would probably work for everything though. Just make sure you use washers.

The sizes I used were the same for the PS3 and the 360.

    Thanks for watching.

  • @djwhetzel Fantastic! thank you very much i can get right on this now ^_^ many thanks

  • @djwhetzel hey there, well still having troule finind the right bolts to make this jig myself, proper winding me up too. ah well, still a very good build from you and i'm still looking forward to making it. i'm actually trying to come up with a way of making one where the ps3 can be rebuilt ONTO the jig so the board cannot flex at all even during use but it would need some case mods and cable mods too, what you think?

  • DO I NEED A PREHEATER IF I USE THIS?

  • Great Job! I was wondering when somebody was going to make a jig for the board.

I made one similar months ago, and its hasn't fail yet.

    Thanks

  • Great vid bud..someone took your Idea and is selling these on Ebay for about £50 GBP..lol you should have patented it..:P

  • I was going to buy the 15 3mm bolts, and 30 washers and 45 3mm nuts but the total was $23 :(

The damn 7grams of arctic silver thermal compound was only $7 LOL

ill just hope for the best :)

  • Great Idea!! Thank you for you video. I'll be trying this.

  • Ylod !!! YGOD??

  • lmao its 0's N crosses

  • that kool ... i got 3 ps3's that have ylod. ima try this when i start working on them

  • Seems simple enough, Really nice idea, though, it looks like a lot of effort for one fix (I'm only gonna get my game out of it and use my dlc for a bit until i can afford a new slim and then sell it as a DIY refurb).

I have a question, wouldnt the spring loaded mounts for the heat sink combat any warping? doing it once shouldnt warp it so much that it'd become a problem, if you have to do a reflow again, i could see this working but would i be able to get away without using for a first time?

  • sweet man

  • ur very smart :]

  • Just got the ylod on my ps3. This is a great idea. I have plenty of brass standoffs for pc motherboards. I will try and fashion up something similar, hopefully using the standoffs will be easier as they will all be the same height and it's easier to hold the mobo down with screws. Top vid djwhetzel!!!

  • are you selling?

  • Wanna fix my xbox lol?

  • OMG YOUR SO CLEVER

  • you clever bastard! lol

  • very nice. wish i could barrow that.

  • Good idea.

  • thanks man, nice work, keep it up.

  • you are are a legend :)

  • just use a pre heater griddle underneath bro walmart presto griddlethen drill the holes better no warping

  • although when doing the reflow process it does bend/melt slightly and it changes out of place so i might try this>> thanks

  • my ps3 has had the yellow lihgt around 5 times, and because of you iv fixed it everytime thanks mate really appreciate your help keep up the videos love you :P cya

  • good stuff.

i don't know why but your voice is nostalgic.

  • i don't understand what you are going on about lol

how does prevent ps3 yellow light of death lol ??

  • @so154jg This doesn't actually prevent the YLOD, it's to help you repair it.

If you click on the video response it will make more sense.

  • @so154jg

i see lol you are a good man lol

a question how can you you prevent the ps3 yellow light of death lol ???

    p.s i live in england

  • @so154jg you can prevent the YLOD by putting your PS3 in the freezer while you play or by only using it at an hour at a time in a well ventilated area, your pick, otherwise its just by chance and something you gotta live with.

  • @so154jg wow ur a dumbass
