  • You will either be a rich TV personality one day or just a struggling poor joe, working at the local garage. I dont know if you realize it (and since no one else here has said it) but you have alot of character, you should capitalize on that.... somehow, get a job at a local radio station or TV studio, or write up some comedy material and go to some Open Mic nights. BTW, what do you need TABS for? Just play the damn bass, you already love it. Practice some scales. I play everything by ear.

  • same what i did with knife, chesle, hammer and that same squeezing thing what you call it :P Then i used the sandpaper. youre totally right, its very wrong to do this but mostly because of the sandpaper. You see you make the neck go lower and then theyre not at same level as the pickups as it shouldve been or something. Other thing is that it might be bit lower from other end and bit higher or otherways fucked up in the other way so it is kinda bad. i had this but it was fucked up bass already.

  • Thanks for the video. If I may correct you on something. The paint scraper tool is acutally a spade drill bit (or auger type) drill bit.

  • @ve3vpc huh...well I learned something today lol

  • that is so funny, i have that bas ad its a lefty, i just did that. holy shit

  • i have the shittest of basses that came free with a second hand amplifier.... crafter by cruiser or some shit.... so yeah.... im ripping out the frets ..... and i dont have the correct tools ... hehe.... gives me something to do eh!! ;)

if i fuck it up..... it wont be the end of the world

  • If you need to fill in the holes use wood filler

  • "but im pretty shure there are correct tools out there" epic!! lol thanks dude, i really was going to remove the frets myself with that sort of tools, thanks for th warning!

  • yeah dude if your all for doing it,Great! just uh yeah the "professional tool set" is key lol

  • @zakryan79 fuck dude do you know what tool you need man i really want to defret my bass man but what tools do you need

  • @brandokilla1 a screw driver, and a hammer.

  • sounds like bam margera

  • you know it

  • If you use a soldering iron on the frets (DONT LET IT TOUCH THE WOOD ON THE FRETBOARD) the glue loosens up an you can remove the fretwire a lot easier. Took me 45 minutes to remove 22frets on a strat neck, which I filled with stripes of maple and sanded the whole sucker!!!! Looks and plays awesomely!!!!!

  • Now you did it on a strat...now that is fucking interesting and I'd love to hear that shit play.

  • I'll post a vid when I have some time. "Watch this space"!

  • I can dig it

  • Nice. I always think lefty players r f***ing awesome. I'm not a lefty, but I'm jealous of them

  • hehe thanks man.

  • play me something sucker!

  • ha 69

  • how did u special order it cuz im left handed too and there are some righty models that look nice and i wanna get a lefty version

  • I just ordered mine off of online left handed. just like that.

  • do they come offered as lefty or do u have to ask?

  • offered

  • LOL 69!... thats also an answer in the impossible quiz

  • Get a cheap solering iron next time, heat up the fret and then tap it out from one end. Much easier.

  • Should of pulled a Jaco, butter knife dawg gets er done right quick :p

  • y would u even want to remove the frets in the first place?

  • To get that "upright bass" sound more or less...its not a common thing when it comes to bass playing

  • A fretless bass plays a lot smoother. The lines flow a lot better, plus if you mess up its less noticable.

  • The sound of a fretless bass is beautiful.Go to Eric Czar 7 string fretless bass and you'll see!

  • I've think ive seen that guy and his style is indeed amazing.

  • im just wondering...did you just take out the frets and not fill the holes in with anything ? lol

  • oh i did,but um at the time this was made no...which sucked I didn't have any money for pudding and wood finish and kind of fucked up my E string in the process.but now they're filled up lol.

  • lol hah, well i de-freted my acoustic bass a while ago and i took them out with a pair of scizors and filled up the wholes all within an hour or so carelessly causing many chips and such. i kept the roundwounds on, my fretboard looks like i dipped it in mud and my dog chewed on it atm =p

  • oooo that don't sound too good but....can you still play it and shit?

  • well i can but i barely play it anyways unless im outside with friends when we cant afford mcdonalds or something because its a piece of shit anyways, it has no cutaway, it has fret buzz.... (im not kidding)and its just crap in general =p

  • oh...im sorry to hear that man. got any other bass guitars that work er somethin? lol

  • ye i got 2 ibanezes, one is old that i dont play anymore an the other is a 6 string btb which is my main one, bass is a great instrumment =]

  • oh nice....A six string...oh you lucky bastard xD.

  • lol hehe, but to be honest i barely use the high C string, i use it mostly for soloing but if i had a band i would use it in song writing but i dont have a band so o well =p

  • Oh...well thats still pretty cool that you have one, i want one so bad

  • well i suggest you just get one lol, one thing though, saving up for one will take you forever, but what ever you do STAY AWAY from the rouge 6 string that thing is pure trash and will break imediatly, go for an ESP, they are very nice and go for about 400 (which isn't that much concidering its a 6 string) well hope i helped !

  • oh yeah I've been looking at ESP's actually one of them was around 420 def something I'd have to work up to get though and i will keep that in mind =] thanks.

  • yea i played the 420 one at my local store, its very nice, but the thing is its no paint, just wood (which is mine as well) but for some people thats a hassle and for me it was but i got used to it and now i love it, so i guess its all preference

  • I just did mine and heated the frets with a clothes iron and pryed them out with a knife. worked pretty well.

  • well allready i must say, that sounds alot better than what I did. hehe

  • yeah it worked pretty well. I filled the frets with wood filler and now i'm justputting quite a few layers of olyurethane varnish on so roundwounds dont eat up my neck haha

  • u make me look like an amazing bassist

for that i thank you so much!

  • hey w/e boosts your cofidence man lol. see I like this comment, constructive critizism.

  • haha not wat id call constructive but yeh

just keep workin at ya bassin dude....and for the love of god dont kill anymore basses xD

in the future just buy a vintage fretless theyre like £179 which is a price in ur country tht i cba to work out

  • will do dude. Oh trust me I didn't kill,i just got lucky cuz it still works like a charm you know but yeaht I won't do it no more trust me lol. ....nah fretless bass guitars in america are wayyy more expensive than were you live...like the cheapest one I saw went for a $1000 and over. so thats why i did it to my bass.

  • im pretty sure u can get em for cheaper

i was tryin to order one from arizona for $470

but i cudnt coz they dont ship to england...so i got a checkered ibanez instead

  • nice. yeah for me its hard to find fretless bass guitars anywhere, even internet. and 470 is still pretty pricy but I'd pay that price than a grand anyday lol.

  • yeah man exactly, just best to look around for fretless basses before deciding,

if you do internet shopping, i can try find u a fretless for cheap, ill link you up

  • thanks but I never shop online for things.

  • Next time you make a video turn off the Pantera, don't try to speak French, and don't call it a guitar. That's pretty annoying.

  • Don't feel too bad, I kinda screwed my New York Pro P-Bass up. I used a very tiny flathead screwdriver to de-fret mine. Then I sanded it a little, then used a wood finish lacqure. I think picked the wrong one, or didn't do it right. I didn't cover the holes, so... I used lacqure to fill the holes in. The lacqure kinda didn't even out at the bottum and it's not to smart to play very high notes.

That aside, I got myself an Aria Pro II fretless, a year later, & I need to get the neck re-glossed.

  • nice...but once again...I have to say Im mad lucky my bass isn't fucked up xD.

  • nice man... is it really more for lefties? cuz I'm a lefty at bass also

  • hmmm well I don't think so...Im the first lefty I know that has a fretless bass xD. But like I said...I wouldn't try what I did on your bass .

  • Hey man, nice video, and good warning! Also, thank you for mentioning me :)

  • noooo problem man =]

  • iv had my guitar for more then 2 years and can't play a tune

i dig what your doing keep up the good work

  • thanks zach, Im glad you like my bass playing lol.
