You've just got to love Aussies. They are the most warm, friendly and unassuming people on earth. and what a modern and beautiful country they have made, out of a fairly desolate island. plus, they are the best in the world at cricket! my favourite sport. I'm from England btw.
Fatty had that catch before he dived. Made it look more spectacular than it was. I can't believe it's been 18 years since that match. A tribute to a former Australian captain who was a second-rate human being, but anyway. Captain Grumpy was a great cricketer though.
Adam Dales is the best catch I've ever seen. Paul Collingwood's is probably the closest rival.
Not to swim against the tide too much, but I've never seen the fuss over Dyson's catch. It was a good catch but I don't think it was that great (relative to some of the other amazing catches that have been taken at international level).
I'd have to s\y Fatty's is the most impressive, all the other guys will have spent countless hours doing fielding drills and so they should be expected to make the odd classic stick. Fatty was trained to catch a 30cm ball thrown from no more than about 20-25 metres. I hate the guy but what a ripper catch.
@Liverpool5563@sonofthedestroyer the rules where different then till now. like back then you could stand on the boundary and lean over it to take a catch as long as you had your feet grounded within the boundary then it was deemed a fair catch

For me, I would say Dyson's 1st, Fatty's 2nd, and Dale's 3rd. I always think the ones that are coming over your head as you run away from the ball are the hardest.
could not agree with you any more... an awesome cricket moment back at the time when australian players actually played domestic cricket, 9 covered it, and bill commentated it with the other boys.
adam dale's catch was dubbed by inside cricket as the catch of the century and fair enough. he rooted his shoulder doing it and was never the same bowler ever after.
that last catch was a beauty...they say it's a fluke but anytime a fielder runs back and extends his arms in such fine judgment and holds a catch it can never be a fluke.
A FLUKE WOULD BE IF I STAND AT STILL NEVER MOVE AND THE BALL LANDS IN MY POCKET
i'm not a professional rugby player but i can take a rugby catch. I'm sure he would have played some grade or schools cricket when he was a youngster in Australia.
pretty sure it was definately a fluke the dude who caught it was used to play rugby league for fuck sake there was no fine judgment at all it was pretty much just like a charity match
I was at both games, for the Adam Dale and the Fatty Vaughtin catches. The Adam Dale was better, even though Vaughtin isn't a cricketer, he still has good hand/eye co-orindation, so the tricky part is just getting your hand to the ball.
Yeah that Adam Dale catch is prob my favourite, his reaction and that of the commentator make it even better. Dyson's was the yardstick for years, but the rest are close.

0:36 is former England off-spinner John Emburey catching Ken MacLeay off Graham Dilley's bowling in the 1987 Challenge in Perth.
0:51 (as nikred said) is Ajay Jadeja catching Allan Border off Kapil Dev in the 1992 World Cup in Brisbane.
1:09 is Dipak Patel catching Craig McDermott off Ewen Chatfield in the 1987-88 World Series Cup in Perth.
This is one of the better classic catch compilations I've seen on YouTube. Well done.
