In the olden days they had peddlars selling bottles of snake oil, or elixer, which contained, who knows what? It was claimed it would cure all of your ailments, even take stains out of your clothes. I know this because i've seen it on TV.

Kind of makes one wonder, has anything changed in the past 150 years?
