Several of my birds do it. I have males and females. Come to think of it, only the males

do this. But none of my birds seem interested in actually mating (which is fine by me).

I don't think birds can be gay, but you never know. Whatever works. :)

One of my other birds, Tori, is in love with my hand. I have 5 males and 3 females.

Sounds like either a nasal or respiratory infection. She needs antibiotics. You should be able to get the medicine from a vet. It's usually drops that you add to her water, or you may need to feed it directly into her crop with a bird feeding syringe.

As long as you are holding him gently, he shouldn't be hurting. But he pretty much won't like it. I don't know that "shame" enters into it. But they are pretty smart birds.

Hi again...your budgie is old enough to lay egss, but if she is going "solo", she may never lay them. It's hard to say for certain. I have one female, she is 2 years old, and hasn't laid any eggs.

You don't, if its going to happen then its going to happen. If you have a pair, make sure that you have a male and a female. Also age is a factor. Putting in a nesting box mite put the female in the mood to nest which may lead to mating. Thats about all you can do for them. If they are not interested then they are not interested and there is not much you can do about it.
