  • How happy he looks like. :)

  • If there's a better way to start the day, (without involving She Who Must Be Obeyed) ... I haven't found it!

  • If the pipes had made it into American Folk Music this would be it! Well done!

  • I keep coming back and back.... I don't think I'll ever play at this level but I sure hope I can enjoy it as much as these two do....what a joy.

  • you be smiling if you could like this

  • Saw Fred Morrison live last year the man's a genius, Bruce Molsky's playing and Fred's really compliment each other on this track.

  • I think to say that he's really enjoying himself would be an understatement; great video.

  • Great ! What is the name of the tune ?

The Kansas City Hornpipe / Jarlath's Tune ? as mentionned above ?

  • that will be me someday

  • I love this hornpipe. I played it on tin whistle, but it doesnt have the same catchy tone for this tune

  • Now THAT is real music!

  • 5*****

  • spellbinding

that was some fancy playing on the 'pipes, but man i sure enjoyed that good old clawhammer banjo

  • That's what music should feel like, the look on that man's face :)

  • not only is it great music, i just love seeing the look on that man's face when he's playing, its like a kid in a candy shop

  • Fred Morrisan plays the Uilleann pipes too? damn it i hate such talented people. and its not like you can transfer the bagpipes over. they are quite different like.

  • Totally Brilliant. ACE ++++++++

  • A great fusion of Scottish and American talent!

  • Their are so many GREAT pipers...really!

BUT Fred is my personal favorite! i dont know what makes me more happy... the notes he is playing or seeing him play them? :)

  • I agree with you, Fred Morrison alway looks like he's having a blast when he's playing. Most pipers look so serious, playing music should be fun and Fred sure looks like he's having fun. I can't help but smile when I watch him play.

  • I'm always smiling when I play the whistle or the bodhrán. I totally understand that playing Irish music should be fun and I also smiled when looking at Fred enjoying this tune. Great music :)

  • So true!

  • Fred is THE GREATEST. Go Fred.

  • thank you! this man is not only a master,he plays with a childlike JOY! a blessing to us all this fellow...

  • Absolutely love it!!! Listen to it often after a pint or two!!

  • the 1st tune is well gd fred is a legend wish a could find the music for the tune

wat kind of pipes r they????

  • Uilleann pipes.

  • Good song, corny video

  • jog on then!

  • do you think they're acting?

  • Why corny? Should they be wearing bling, gold teeth and be all thugged out?

  • Who the hell cares when the music is this good. He looks like a great guy to me.

  • The guy on the right is awesome. He is really Cool.

  • exactly!

  • sweet!!!

  • Awesome!!! Class!

  • so how much dose the fingering change from ssp to UP and are they difficult to set up and reed

  • The fingering is totally different for UP as they also have something like 16 different notes and 2 octaves. They use a single bladed reed to.

  • They UP have double bladed reed

  • My mistake, cheers for the correction.

  • Ahhh... I love pipes and I love banjos. Fantastic collaboration here.

    Slainté

  • I love Fred's style, it is so unique sounding on the pipes.

  • I agree. No matter if he plays scottish smallpipes, border pipes or UP - you always recognize him by his style of playing :)

  • Outstanding!

  • this is good stuff man. Nice, different.

  • thanks anyway! i play the smallpipes! even though thos werent smallpipes they are kinda the same!

  • Sorry... but, I'M NOT BORED TO SEE THIS VIDEO!!! Hey Tom, thank you so much to post!!!

  • I'm not bored to see this video! He is so happy!!!

  • Fred Morrison a mi parecer es el mejor del mundo! Toca con una alegria, se ve q disfruta tocar Uilleann Pipe, y no hay nadie como el, y si me equivoco kiero que me lo prueben!!!

    5/5

  • 2:34... the eyes of a man about to pipe you into oblivion.

  • ahhhhhhhhhaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh LOL....

Reading your comment made me laugh...then when I saw his eyes, you were right!!! Nothing but piping determination in those eyes!

  • Absolutely. He will take no prisoners! Brilliant.

  • A++

I love music like this. Frailing banjo and fiddle is a classic combination; frailer and elbow pipes works just as well. Kudos.

  • One word to describe that - AWESOME!!!

  • Fred is indeed incredibly talented! Wow! Great video!

  • Excellent!

  • Nicest pipe work I've heard in a long time. Outstanding! The banjo is a perfect match.

  • legend

  • fred morrison pwns

  • looks like a difficult instrument to play. sounds great though!

  • Love the first tune especially, the sound Fred gets out of those pipes is so beautiful, I love it!

  • some good old time Uilean Pipes! This is truly beautiful!

  • Thats my cousin fred he's a musical genius

  • Sweet Celtic insanity...rising, like mad and against the ancient forces......pull over, dumb citizen, they have made a song out of your stupid name.

  • you can here the influences of this beautiful music that later translated into blue grass in the america

  • It's great that Fred is doing some American stuff now. Heard these tunes at the Martyn Bennett tribute night and was blown away. The best piper in the world.

    Roll on the new album!

  • I have really enjoyed these Trans tracks -I just love the relaxed playing style and the musicality.A new CD with some of this material would be an instant hit

  • This is so funny to watch! Bless Fred piping like a trooper and trying to get a smile out of Bruce on the banjo! How many winks and smiles can one man fit into 3 1/2 minutes!?

  • the best the best THE BEST

  • Really love Fred's playing and interesting of Uilleann pipes now!

  • Very classy from the master piper - original, versatile and creative in all his work. His solo slow air on the whistle with sax was the highlight of instrumental playing at Celtic Connections(kemper gig).Brilliant composer and one of the worlds best instumentalists

  • What an unusual duo! Light as a feather. Like to hear more o' that.

Was he chording on the pipes in the B section?

Sounded like the accordion was in.

  • Yes he would have been playing chords in second section - check "Uilleann pipes" in Wikipedia for further explanation.

Fred Morrison is the "Jimi Hendrix" of the pipes - a true virtuoso performer!

  • He's right good, yes, but I lean more towards The Keenan as Hendrix.

  • DARN FINE!!!! ... where's that pub!

  • Absolutely brilliant,and different.

  • Great video!

  • CLASS! I can watch this several times and still love it. Thanks for posting it!

  • Fred sure enjoys playing these pipes - Bruce did well to keep a straight face!

I'd love to see Ronan Browne and Fred Morrison playing together - that would make anybody smile!
