beautiful i have so much respect for this school even though we are rivals we are all Texans i just got accepted to a&m and UT but i decided to go to U.T even though we are rivals I will always have respect for this amazing school HOOK EM HORNS *TEXAS
This video gave me a big lump in my throat. I married an Aggie, and he is an amazing man who has not only brought me to the Lord, but has shown me the integrity, pride, and fortitude of what it means to be a graduate of A&M. He is a great example of the character that is promoted and built by that fine school. Once a year we make a trek of 6 hours to go to a game, and I am always lifted up just seeing the cameraderie of the students. What a truly great school.
being in a fish in the Corps, a lot of these things mean a lot to our organization and it's good to see that the traditions are being carried on outside of our organization..it makes me proud..
I'm a Texas Tech fan through and through, but I have a great deal of respect for Texas A&M University. Many of my friends go there and they really stick together and look after each other. It's a shame we let a silly rivalry get in the way of acceptance and tolerance. God bless Texas Tech and God bless Texas A&M.
@Maskedrider1092 Dude I gotta say you are the most mature Red Raider I know. I'm and Aggie and I have friends that go to Tech. Glad to know someone that respects both sides. God Bless ya.
@furfeyl People are people bro and we all have sinners. Part of the reason why there are a lot of people who don't respect A&M is that there is a pocket of Aggie fans who truly do think they are better people than everyone else, Texas Tech people like myself included.
Btw, just to let you know, A&M has kidnapped and spray painted our horse, tainted our fountains at a MILITARY MEMORIAL, as well as the classic time when the corp memeber assaulted the cheerleader with a sabre.
@Maskedrider1092 There is a fine line betweeen pranks and being dumb. Every school has their fair share of idiots though. Reveille has been kidnapped before that's nothing more than a prank. Your fans tore down your goal posts and put them in a section with A&M fans. That's just dumb and could have killed someone. Also A&M doesn't tolerate that kind of behavior. The corp member who drew his sabre on the SMU cheerleader in the 80's was kicked out of school.
@Itsmeagain9145 I don't want to start a war or anything, but once again you are generalizing a school that has over 30,000 human beings just like you and me. If you want more, I can dish more. In the early early 1900's A&M corps members assaulted Longhorn fans in Houston after the Aggies lost to Texas. And speaking of deaths, A&M was involved in the only college brawl that resulted in the death of a student when they assaulted Baylor Bear fans during a Homecoming parade.
Next month I will attend my 50th Anniversary Aggie Muster at A&M, and one day my Aggie daughter (Class of 1999) and grandson (Class of 2015) will answer roll call for me as I answered roll call for my son (Class of 1991). Only an Aggie can ever understand the "spirit of Aggieland." Retired Air Force officer, Class of 1961
I'm from Oklahoma and I never knew about the corps of cadets at A&M. I took a tour and didn't want to leave. Now I'm having a really rough time choosing between the Aggies and West Point. Any insight?
This is coming from a West Point graduate who is the guy of SHSU ROTC. His name is LTC David Yebra. He said verbatim, "If you want to be an Academy graduate, you might as well go to Texas A&M. I wish I would have. There is much more tradition. West Pointers can only talk about their experiences with West Pointers. Aggies are family, something much more then us. They have tradition and have follow footsteps of their "family." I wish I would of been an Aggie so one day my name
@RedAssClassOf2015 I'm touched by your warm remarks sir, as I'm sure all Aggies are. As a proud former cadet, and even prouder Fightin Texas Aggie class of '08, lemme just say that despite our "Corps' rivalry with one another," it is the deeper recognition of each others devotion to Duty, God, and Country that we cherish most. Gig'em!
@BuckHunter1579 Surely any student of any school, would say that their school is the best, and so words do not do our Aggie's passionate loyalty justice. I wouldn't, want somebody to be cajoled into attending our school, only to find himself in an environment, he can't fall in love with. Not everyone gets it, we have values, and traditions which we enjoy following in the hopes that they instill such values into our own souls. My best advice, visit both schools, and decide for yourself.
@asfgoui1 I don't think it was written FOR the school. Granger Smith is an Aggie and he wrote this song as a tribute. Although it has since been associated with Texas A&M, I don't think A&M has officially endorsed the song. I could be wrong...
@stephenmj@asfgoui1 folks, I'm not the author of this song, but I can ASSURE you with confidence, that Granger Smith wrote this song as a tribute to some of his fondest memories, which almost all Aggies experience while attending here. Verse by verse he's singing about special traditions, events, and feelings that are unique to Texas A&M University. Though I don't think he cared whether or not he had A&M's endorsement.
@Blademaster865 I agree. Texas A&M has not officially endorsed it but it has the Spirit of A&M. I had got in touch with Granger when I created this video for OGS at Texas A&M. I wanted to get his permission to use this song. He was quite helpful in letting me use this song.
@Blademaster865 Yes this was submitted for the competition in 2007 for the Office of Graduate Studies. I guess they wanted Grad students to break free of their research for a while and do something creative :-) Lol. I left A&M in 2008 and I don't know if they still have this going on. There used to be a set of webpages dedicated to this on the OGS website, but it's not there anymore. I don't think they have played this version on the jumbotron.
I come from a family of Aggie grads and, and I want nothing els than to go to Texas A&M. I'm a junior in HS. I just always think my grades aren't good enough. The tradition at A&M is amazing, and the campus is beautiful. Whoop! Future Aggie Class of 2016!!
@SuperUnitedNations My school doesn't rank and I didn't check to see how they ranked me, so I'm not sure. My SAT was high enough for auto though, but my gpa is kinda low, like 3.8ish weighted. I saw somewhere that they will notify everyone by January 15th, but I'm not sure if thats for auto or review. Goodluck! Keep me posted :)
@Niconi22 hi my names john and im from the uk, im in year 12 which is the equivalent of grade 11 i think. how is the college rated in the country, is it up there with the best? ever since a friend of mine showed me this place i have wanted to go. i dont know how my british grades compare with ur american SAT's and stuff but i hope to take that test soon to see if i have the kind of scores required to get in. if i get a high score will they offer me a scholarship? i want to do civil engineering:)
@akickintheteeth0 Hey John, yeah it is definately up there with the best! Especially for engineering :D I'm not sure how hard it is to get a scholarship, but I'd think if your grades and test scores and whatnot were high then you could get one without much trouble. Goodluck!
@akickintheteeth0 Hey, iam also seriously considering Texas A&M for engineering. I've reseached the university many times and have some facts for you. Avbout 40 % of the school is enrolled in engineering and the University as a whole was ranked #2 in the united states for job preparedness by employers. From the same publication A&M was ranked 14th in engineering and 5th in finance. A&M's Petroleum engineering program was ranked #1 in the US. I hope you get in and become a Texas Aggie !!! Gig'em
@101Sarkozy wow thats a whole bunch of engineers. I guess that the success in engineering means that it would be super hard to get any sort of scholarship. i used the fee calculator on the site but im not sure if its accurate, it said i would be paying like 19,000 dollars a year which isnt exactly cheap. its sucks to be a foreign student
This is so gay that my testicles are literally bleeding... I swear to God my pants are soaking through with blood right now into my computer chair.. >_<
@HomieG75 You are obviously not an Aggie. It is an Aggie tradition that if you walk under the Century tree with somebody else, you and that other person will be together for ever. However, if you walk under the tree alone, you will be doomed to live alone the rest of your life. Aggies take this tradition seriously.
Go Longhorns..man to make a comment about the bonfire is messed up. That shouldnt happen to any of us..we are all Texas schools after all. The memorial is one of the coolest things I've ever seen
@minty691 Yes, I do. Twelve people died. Unfortunately, YOU weren't the 13th. Even the tards wouldn't be so scummy as to make a comment like yours. Which means that you're actually worse than a tard. You're a tard wannabe.
Of all the great poems and songs that have been written about Texas A&M and the Aggie Spirit, this ranks right up there with the best of them. I also love how the video ends with the inscription from the arches on the Quad saying "Return with Honor!"
Brought a tear to my eye. I am an incoming freshman. Just wish my parents would of had the chance to experience A&M. I went to Night with the Corp. It brought a new sense of just how much spirit the campus has and how much I want to be part of it.
Not only in the great state of Texas is the degree recognized, it's recognized around this great nation of ours, especially in Engineering. Proud member of the Aggie class of '05! Gig ' em, WHOOP!
This a great video and it really seems to capture the spirit of Texas A&M University. My son is a freshman this year in the College of Engineering and I couldn't be prouder of him or his choice of college. One thing I wish though, that Texas A&M supporters would stop with all the "TU" nonsense. One of the things I noticed when I've visited the campus are all the deragatory bumper stickers having to do with UT Austin. I'm a proud graduate of UT Austin, but I also have great respect for TAMU.
(Cont.) ....and makes me feel almost homesick. I can't wait to hopefully go back soon! But, without a doubt, someday I will be yelling for the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2016 ^_^
By the way, I don't care what school you go to or cheer for, you haven't felt comradery until you sing the War Hymn at Kyle Field. There is truly nothing like it.
Thank you for posting this! An amazing video to a truly amazing song.
I don't have generations upon generations of Aggies in my family and I wasn't raised in or anywhere near College Station. However, recently when I went there as a fan and possible prospective student, I didn't feel like an outsider (although that's just what I was). I felt like THAT was my home and A&M was my big, loud family. So now, even though I had this song on my iPod before, it has so much more meaning and makes me f
This video and song is amazing!I am a HUGE Aggies fan! I'm only a sophmore in high school and can't wait to go to A&M. I was born in College Station and lived there until I was 6. All of my dad's family lives in Brazos Valley. Everytime I go to visit, I always go to the campus and go to the Bonfire Memorial. The campus is beautiful. I love that everyone says "Howdy" to everyone. We may not be good at football but we are good at tradition, spirit, and family. GIG'EM AGGIES!
@insaneboy683 Up until then, A&M had a tradition for the annual game against t.u. The game was always Thanksgivings day and they would build a big bonfire and burn it the night before the game. The legend was that if the bonfire burned past midnight, A&M would win the game on the next day. After awhile, Bonfire easily reached 100ft.
Anyway, at 2:43a.m. on November 18, 1999, just a few days before completion, the nearly-built stack collapsed. The incident injured 27 students, and killed 12.
@LilVamp25 Oohhhhhhhhhh I see now. Okay, thank you :) I just moved to texas like 9 months ago, so I don't know much about UT or A&M besides the well known athletics...
I'm from Nevada, where, well basically UNLV sucked in every sport...
@insaneboy683 Welcome to Texas. :). If you are interested here is a good vid about Bonfire. To give you an idea of what happened. /watch?v=1g48S1KvzkE
@insaneboy683 So was I. 12 people died that night, and I knew one of them. I visit the memorial every year and I want to visit it that night this year
i lost my father who was an Aggie 5 years ago, and now planning my wedding it get hard at times, but on huge two days, registering for my bridal registry and my first meeting with a planner i drove behind someone ( two different people)
with Aggie bumper stickers. I had never seen it before
i have no problem admitting that even though im a sophmore at UT-austin, i love the A&M spirit. you guys have a strong united front and im proud to be a longhorn, and id be proud to be an aggie as well. i love the tradition you guys have and we'll see you later this year for one hell of a game!
i get chills everytime i hear this song ♥ graduating this december Whoop!

I'm a Texas Tech fan through and through, but I have a great deal of respect for Texas A&M University. Many of my friends go there and they really stick together and look after each other. It's a shame we let a silly rivalry get in the way of acceptance and tolerance. God bless Texas Tech and God bless Texas A&M.

furfeyl 2 weeks ago
@furfeyl People are people bro and we all have sinners. Part of the reason why there are a lot of people who don't respect A&M is that there is a pocket of Aggie fans who truly do think they are better people than everyone else, Texas Tech people like myself included.
Btw, just to let you know, A&M has kidnapped and spray painted our horse, tainted our fountains at a MILITARY MEMORIAL, as well as the classic time when the corp memeber assaulted the cheerleader with a sabre.
Maskedrider1092 1 week ago
@Maskedrider1092 There is a fine line betweeen pranks and being dumb. Every school has their fair share of idiots though. Reveille has been kidnapped before that's nothing more than a prank. Your fans tore down your goal posts and put them in a section with A&M fans. That's just dumb and could have killed someone. Also A&M doesn't tolerate that kind of behavior. The corp member who drew his sabre on the SMU cheerleader in the 80's was kicked out of school.
Itsmeagain9145 1 week ago
@Itsmeagain9145 I don't want to start a war or anything, but once again you are generalizing a school that has over 30,000 human beings just like you and me. If you want more, I can dish more. In the early early 1900's A&M corps members assaulted Longhorn fans in Houston after the Aggies lost to Texas. And speaking of deaths, A&M was involved in the only college brawl that resulted in the death of a student when they assaulted Baylor Bear fans during a Homecoming parade.

@furfeyl Technically hose weren't our busses they were charter busses. Even if it was just stinkbait and shoe polish it was still vandalism.

I'm from Oklahoma and I never knew about the corps of cadets at A&M. I took a tour and didn't want to leave. Now I'm having a really rough time choosing between the Aggies and West Point. Any insight?
BuckHunter1579 10 months ago
@BuckHunter1579

RedAssClassOf2015 10 months ago

I'm sorry I'm not from A&M, wondering if this song though was actually made for the school? I like it :)
asfgoui1 11 months ago 5
@asfgoui1 I don't think it was written FOR the school. Granger Smith is an Aggie and he wrote this song as a tribute. Although it has since been associated with Texas A&M, I don't think A&M has officially endorsed the song. I could be wrong...
stephenmj 11 months ago 2
@stephenmj @asfgoui1 folks, I'm not the author of this song, but I can ASSURE you with confidence, that Granger Smith wrote this song as a tribute to some of his fondest memories, which almost all Aggies experience while attending here. Verse by verse he's singing about special traditions, events, and feelings that are unique to Texas A&M University. Though I don't think he cared whether or not he had A&M's endorsement.
Blademaster865 10 months ago 4
@Blademaster865 I agree. Texas A&M has not officially endorsed it but it has the Spirit of A&M. I had got in touch with Granger when I created this video for OGS at Texas A&M. I wanted to get his permission to use this song. He was quite helpful in letting me use this song.
stephenmj 10 months ago
@stephenmj Right on, didn't you enter this video into a contest of some sort, and didn't they play this video on the jumbotron at Kyle Field?
Blademaster865 10 months ago
@Blademaster865 Yes this was submitted for the competition in 2007 for the Office of Graduate Studies. I guess they wanted Grad students to break free of their research for a while and do something creative :-) Lol. I left A&M in 2008 and I don't know if they still have this going on. There used to be a set of webpages dedicated to this on the OGS website, but it's not there anymore. I don't think they have played this version on the jumbotron.

I'm a proud graduate of UT Austin, but I also have great respect for TAMU.

insaneboy683 1 year ago
@insaneboy683 Up until then, A&M had a tradition for the annual game against t.u. The game was always Thanksgivings day and they would build a big bonfire and burn it the night before the game. The legend was that if the bonfire burned past midnight, A&M would win the game on the next day. After awhile, Bonfire easily reached 100ft.
Anyway, at 2:43a.m. on November 18, 1999, just a few days before completion, the nearly-built stack collapsed. The incident injured 27 students, and killed 12.
