What a nuisance this guy was. I remember that my cousin was stuck on this boss and therefore didn't play the game any longer. I borrowed his PS back then, found a training spot close by and leveled up till about lvl 33. Finally beated this guy with luck. I remember my cousins reaction when i told him i beated the game a few weeks later.. =]

I was around level 40 for this fight... and I was able to kill this thing in two moves... cloud's meteorain and then gauntlet with yuffie.. i had them both charged before going into the battle by pure luck, i think cloud may have gotten off a counterattack first (which did around 800 dmg) and also slowed this guy, but in the end it didn't really matter

the strategy is all wrong here. ditch your element materia and all your summons cept bahamut. You need big guard, slow and good healing magic ( i had cure 3)

use the weapons with the highest attack ratings, such as the nail bat and work glove.

also, Vincent's galian beast flare attack is useless.

i had Cloud, Tifa and Aerith/ Aeris.

So, use Aeris as a healer/caster of Big guard and have the others attack. Climhazzard is very useful here as is deathblow!

This guy does not do anywhere near as much damage to you as he does to me! Aerith gets attacked by him for around 800 damage,Cloud for 700.

You are very underleveled. You can have level 60 by walking around Mideel area for an hour. Train, buddy.

u cant get to mideel until later in the game can u ? im pretty sure it isnt until u aquire the highwind. and i always used the wutai continent. pretty decent exp and everything drops xpotions :)

You can't get to the Town Mideel, but Mideel Area is accecible. It is the southernmost area, reachable with the Tiny Bronco. The enemies there are the Spirals, the headhunters and a worthless Grifon. You'll receive an avarage of 2k exp for every battle that isn't against the griffon. Train in the grassy area so you can fight four headhunters for more than 2k experience points.

I found this boss easy, used haste, and attacked with physical attacks consistently before building up the limit gauge to use climhazzard,(about 7000HP damage) and he gave out after a few minutes.

Are you doing a low level challenge? your party members seem a bit weak, i was past those levels at ''Mt. Nibel'' and i was just speed-plowing through haha

@MikeVbud I'm using Cloud, Aeris, and Cid and just leveling up in the area where you fight Red Dragon because I don't have the Stop ability yet. Probably once everyone gets close to 2000 HP, I'll probably be ready to fight it. Thank God I have at least a soft or two because I don't have the heal materia.

elemental materia is useless! Time( with slow) restoration, enemy skill, deathblow, HP PLUS( 2x per character) and Bahamut is all you need.

big guard is essential, as is cloud wielding the nail bat for big damage. Tifa is also a good choice because of the the high damage limits, but dont take vincent, unless you have at least death gigas. but its advisable to have 3 chars you can control directly so healing is easier(if Aeris sucks)

climhazzard is a must, but meteorain is advisable!

Use big guard and combine with slow effects of any sort, even if it's time + added effect in the weapon. Otherwise, you'll be spending far far more time reacting and not actually attacking him, especially since he's so resistant to magic.

Luckily I saved in the temple before on another file, because I have a lvl 25 Cloud, 24 Aeris and 22 Tifa, I don't have big guard (everybody dies with one blow, unless I'm really lucky) or cure of any sorts and I'm battling this guy, so I guess I'm screwed and I'll have to load the other save and go up some levels.

I guess it was already a miracle that I passed the dragon.

Three things to help out.

1)Magic doesn't do &%!# to it, so use attack or summon bahamut and odin to deal damage.

2)Aeris is the healer, no exceptions. Let her use Big Guard, White Wind, Healing Wind, and all that jazz.

3)Never let anyone get below 600hp.

I don't have any limits besides HEaling Wind for Aeris, so I'm stuck trying to use thst combined with sure and cure2. Magic was one of my stronger strategies so I have to change my entire system. Keeping everyone over 600 gets difficult when you have one magic healer and your getting one hit

the thing is materia is useless againt him... all u need is enemy skill , hp plus( which each char shud hav at least 2 of) bahamut, Restore and TIME materia! (mayb odin)

use SLOW on him and buff with big guard(repeat), equip cloud with nail bat so his attack is awesome! trust me materia sucks...you need to also have at least climhazzard, but meteorain is preferable. also, tifa is good to take for her limit- DONT TAKE VINCENT

Ive just done this battle, Cloud - lvl 34 Vincent - lvl 33 Aeris - lvl 29. all i did was equipped cloud and vincent with fury rings and kept aeris as the tank ( healer ) i summon'd bahamut once i ended up using a megalixir T.T and 2 hi-potions. all i kept doing was getting aeris to use healing wind and i let cloud and vincent do the bashing and i think the battle lasted about 2 - 3 minutes after trying it 10 times a different way T.T but nice vid u make it look so tough yet easy :)

you seem to have a surprising lack of materia at this stage - i tended to have all members with at least 2 of the elemental materia at level 2 or 3, seem to rememer having more enemy skill techniques too.

You should of set your party to the rear, had Barret in the party (with a long range weapon), equip cloud with long range, and used "Big Guard", this way the battle is PISS, you could defeat him without any materia except the if you wanted, just leaving long range, big guard is just a priority tbh. Got him this time. I reset Vincents limit break so he didnt start off trying to turn into a beast, made sure he had cure-all and haste-all on him and the chocobo summon as a backup. Aeris had Bahumut and Odin, and Cloud had deathblow attached to the luck plus materia. Kept using DB and hitting for 800+ while Aeris summoned and vincent hasted and healed (since she was weak from not being used) and just let her stay there since she dies anyway. Worked out great.

dude, u kept usin lunatic high wth Red XIII, should have used Sled Fang, could have killed it quicker, and should use Seal Evil as well.

Physical attacks are so much stronger than elemental.

I am up to there on my game, with the same characters as you, Red XIII had Blood Fang Limit Break and Cloud has Blade Beam and Climhazzard.

This should have been a piece of cake for you

you fought this boss in a very weird way, physical attacks are a lot more effective than magics and summons (except Bahamut). And you're very lucky, this boss is usually a lot quicker and stronger than that.

Really you just need to be prepared by the time you get to the Temple. As long as you have a bunch of Right Arms stolen from Bombs and Big Guard, you should have the fight won pretty quickly.
