If it's fuel consumption you're worried about, the A8 isn't for you.
I test drove a 4.2L A8L today and I felt it hauled pretty well. I'm not so sure if I really like the long wheelbase though, it was a bit difficult to get around corners.
Well first of all, I'm not even saying that I am interested in buying one, it is a really amazing car which is reason enough for me to check it out. Furthermore, I wouldn't say that the A8 is not a car for the people that care about the fuel consumption as one of the 2011 A8 models will on average comsume about 0.6 Litres of diesel per 10 km. Not bad at all for a luxury car of that size, what the heck not bad at all for a car in general.
That is true, and it's great if you're in Europe. Sadly, I'm stuck in the US, and VWAG has dictated that US consumers wouldn't like anything smaller than a petrol V8 :/

Oh sorry sir, I didn't understand you were from the US. That sounds quite sad, not a smart decision by VWAG. But they don't offer an A8 with a manual gearbox anywhere right? Or do they? Is there not any possibility for you to import a V6 or V8 from Europe to the US?
You're correct, they don't offer a manual. It's just another item I have on my A8 wishlist.
And I'd bet I could, but I'm sure the costs associated with such a transaction would be astronomical, especially considering the possibility of fraud, etc., making it not worth the money or effort.
i like audi s cuz they have 4 wheel drive and really nice desine, this grill that goes all they way down youll see in all new upcoming audi s cuz thats their new desine, looks nice.
since Lincolns are becoming techy like BMW's, and Jaguars are looking like an ipod............this A8 has the best interior. if it rides smooooooth then i will get one.

strange i have a 2005 audi a8 3.0 TDi and i get at least 50 MPG when i go around 70 MPH on the highway.

i dont think the s8 is worth it the 350hp v8 is plenty to move the whole car that is made of aluminum with ease

Depends on what you want. If you want a lower fuel comsumption it's not better. But performance is better.

today I saw a 2008 Audi (biult in November) it was awesome but it costs bout 86.000 € and it is used
so i think if u wannt to buy a new one it goes nearly 100.000 € thats very expensive
