Well I have nothing against French or so something but this Ney.."BRAVEST OF THE BRAVE & DUMBEST OF THE DUMB"...did you see what he did in the battle of waterloo? He moved all the cavalry into the British squares and that was the dumbest thing Ive ever seen...well if just once..but he repeated the attack..Im sorry but I think he was a way too brave...
@Snake15935755 Considering that calvary attacked ended in a draw, it doesn't seem all that stupid. Seemed far more effective then Napoleon's infantry attacks at Waterloo.
@ltflak Well I didnt say that Napoleon did well with that inf....but that was waste of cavalry.....Napoleon couldnt know that there were so many British foot....
Nider British and Prussian were any good...Also Napoleon said that man who has made Uprise in my country during his wars was greater military leader than him
@protfl don't know who you think know only for Alexander, Napoleon Kutuzov and Ney...Don't remembre any of them had mustache, Kutuzov had problem with one eye...Anyway Piere Bezuhow and Bolkonski were good caracters...for nowel.I look this war from two angles of Tolstoi and Hugo...For Russians French were ocupators and enemy, for French Russian were savages...French came first to Russia so they started, but Russians after Russian campain ocupated France so they are the same.War is about money.
I know both russian and french uniformes from russian campain in 19th century. Where are Pavlov grenadier, where are french grenadier, where are cuirassiers, where are dragoons, where are hussars, kozacs, where are uhlans?
And that fat's guy people destroyed once a big country, with one another nation with we were in federation. Why, so now money thirsty politician could bring all confronted nations in history together...My second great grandfather fought for country that was rulde by some idiot and a kid, and he died for nothing, leaving his two sons to live poor life...
@Bombizzen every war is because some people ( a few of them) have plans for getting more money, more land, more properties. My great grandfather fouth for my country inWW2. And he died as old man, nobody from goverment came to honor him, because their polictis confront with politic that he fought for. They now spit on peole who died, like my second gret grandfather who was killed during attack on our country in 1941. They fought for nothing just some fat guy could became life time dictator.
@typical russian tactic...sending thousands of untrained men to war watching them beeing slaughtered and perhaps overwhelme the enemy because of the numbers^^
That was tatic of all wars until WW2, of all countries. I know you germans don't like russians but french and englishman also sended many untrained people into war.
Also americans have negative propaganda against russians. The gretates russian battle was Poltava battle, there they were briliant...
Yeah, just look at the American Civil War for example. That was pretty much also "sending thousands of untrained men to war watching them beeing slaughtered and perhaps overwhelme the enemy because of the numbers".
typical russian tactic...sending thousands of untrained men to war watching them beeing slaughtered and perhaps overwhelme the enemy because of the numbers^^
@Einherjar1986 Considering that they annihilated 87% of Ney's corp, they had a reason to be confident. Problem with the Russians in the 1812 campaign is that they underestimated the French time and time again. Even though the French were in miserable conditions, they often faced brash, ill-advised attacks that were easily repeled. If the Russians were a bit more clever, or even cautious, Napoleon would have never escaped Russia.
Just to add in a fact, Marsal Ney was executed by a French firing squad not long after Waterloo. His last words were (as far as we know) "I have fought a hundred battles for France and not one against her."
You got the russian officers dialogue from admiral didn't you?! But where did you get the french dialogue from????? P.S.(Admiral is one of the better movies i've seen.)
@SmokeytheBear66 Look it up on Novamov, Videoweed, Megavideo(i don't recomend because there's a thing in place where after watching you have to wait for an hour.) and other websites

@ltflak Farewell of Slavianka gained popularity first in Russia during I World war, then it became unofficial anthem for Admiral Kolchak's white army during Russian civil war. Song was banned because it became one of the icons for anti-revolutionary in Soviet Union. It was then recorded during Great patriotic war with new lyrics.
Now this is the sort of battle sequence they should have put in the recent Napoleon min series....Well done,From one Bonapartist to another- Well done
