If the developers already had art for the Pokemon and know what they should look like (Which they did) than they should be able to draw the sprites just as good. Take Pokemon Yellow, it came out after a year than Red, Blue and Green version. Those sprites are lightyears better than Red, Blue, and Green versions. I believe they were just lazy.

It's not like they just pictured the PKMN in their head and tried to draw it.

@GamingAwesome1 You're correct, of course, but I have a further point to make. In the anime and the Pokemon Adventures manga, Professor Oak seems to have almost every Pokemon in his Lab. He lets them out in the morning, feeds them lunch in the afternoon, and puts them to sleep at night. So it's entirely possible that he'd have such Pokemon.

Not a dumb question at all! The answer is yes.

The fan-theory of Professor Oak originally being the Champion that you'd have to fight at the end of the game is the one I like best and is probably correct seeing how his Pokemon loadout is so similar to that of the Champion.

For one reason or the other, fighting Professor Oak was canned from the original game and left in the code as an abandoned remnant of what could've been.

@loster53 go to Viridian City and walk into the cuttable tree for 40 steps. To do this correctly,you need Charizard,Pidgey and Jynx (In that order of your party). You'll eventually warp to a glitchy Celadon Gym. Go into the right portal and you will be warped in front of a trainer with a level 63 Muk (if you did this correctly). let your Pokemon get knocked out,and you will appear in The Hall of Fame. Talk to the Lance and he'll say some glitchy stuff. Then Charizard will become a Cheeseburger.
